I just found this out for myself this week. Using a tick chart for better entries than time chart and keep out of bad trades. Thanks for the confirmation bias! 🤣
I like them both. I use time-based charts for longer type trades/positional stuff (Monthly, Weekly, Daily). I use tick charts along with a lower time frame minute chart for intraday setups. I like to use different tick charts depending on time of day. The cash open I will go from a 133 tick to a 333 tick chart while looking at hourly &15 min charts for pivots, rotation areas of interest. The tick charts distill that info. for good entries, exits.
Excellent presentation on Tick Carts! This is the best video I watched comparing time and tick. I know a lot of people use them on Futures but do you think they work just as well on Forex? Thank you.
I've only ever traded tick charts (futures). To be honest I'd find time-based charts too slow for me. I can set my tick charts to suit the speed I like to trade (usually gives me about 5 or 6 candles per minute in RTH normal activity, and when they're thumping along too fast (I've seen 5 or 6 candles per second!) I know it's time for me to keep away). And re-tests and divergences are important to me so these are good reasons too.
PS I pay less than $5 a month for my live data feed (CME top of market bundle)... I don't need market depth data. Using Sierra Chart (now a paid platform) but just as easily used with MT4/5 or Trading View and other platforms with no monthly cost.
I cant belibe the huge diferent there is with ticks charts... i do scalping because its what i started studying and practising and i never knew this (i alwats heard talking about ticks but never the important diference). I trade in binance, small money, making many trades so i can learn and find my own strategy among the large there are. Here in argentina many persons are using libertex or huobi. Operating mainly cryptos. I started with index with ninja trader but later some persons i know where trading crypto so i got into it to. But now i saw a guy from Barcelona that only trades Stocks from EEUU because he sais its less manipulated and the growth could be from 50% to 300% per day.. soy i will investigate about it. If you know something about it i will apreciate the info. :)
@@hanibech there is no one answer that applies universally. It depends on the preferences of the trader. Some like the "less noise" visual style of a renko chart. Some like ticks/trades to see price represented that way. It's all a matter of choice, risk tolerance and your own preferences for executing entries. Best way to know what works for yourself: test.
You are the BEST among the youtube trading education... i am your big fan and i always share and recommend to my friends or whoever looking for studying trading... Thanks for all your kind lecturing All the best
I've wanted to switch to tick charts though, who would you suggest to use? I live in Canada, so I'm not sure if that matters. I believe it would be supplemental to my Tradingview pro membership.
Hey Thx for the great content im used to do my analysis on tradingview but since ive heard about the adventages of toick charts im looking for a new Chartinsoftware / Broker to use does anyone have some suggestions ? What broker did you use in your video ? Thx for helping
@6.19, you demonstrate the retest of breakout level. Here the Tick chart seems to be noisier. (having more noise). Isn't that a contradiction to the earlier comparison of Tick charts being less noisy and keeping the focus??
Time charts work better for me. I may be wrong here but since 99% of the traders use Time chart The market reacts better with TA on a time chart. I do still see use for the tick chart for visualizing but not actual trading
As a new trader I find this very interesting but at the same time this is way too complex for me to grasp! I wish there was something simple and easy so I could just make some income to survive as I am being financially destroyed by a nursing home at six grand a month! I am being forced to pay this I’ve already lost $60,000 and have no income. I look everywhere for something basic to help me and find none! 😫
If you want to be profitable psychology is the most important I believe. T.A. is easier to learn. Read trading in the zone by Mark Douglas. There's also a 4 part video on RUclips but I can't recall the name. You'll have to search for it. For me it was the most important thing I've learned.
can you assist me in this query, ass that 2 candles in tick chart have same size ( pip movement). both are reasonable size not small or with long wicks. 2 of them took 1 min to form , the other one took 5 min. to form what would each one means ? if my question is not clear please tell me to explain more
Tick charts have one more advantage, that is you can create your own wrapper around it and by passing parameters you can generate different kind of charts with alternating densities on-the-fly ;)
Can you pls elaborate on this? When you say adjusting densities on the fly ... Do you mean just changing the tick count per bar? Any recommendations on where I can learn about this? And tick trading in general? And 'by passing parameters', which are you referring to?

Good Info! Do you use it also in Forex? Cause i think is not so reliable , each broker has it own liquidity. What s your experience? Thks
I learned a lot from the other 20 videos I watched on YT about tick charts but yours is by far the best! Thanks 🙌🏽 It’s like Neo seeing the Matrix 😎

To trade in direction of trend how would you use ticks with multi time frames? If I trade 2000 tick chart what multi time frames to use? Thank You
You have to estimate that yourself. Compare it to H1, H4 etc, and see which one resembles the most.
Also the footprint chart, can you make a video on that ?
Is this available on tradingview?
Unfortunately, no..
