I had to come back and comment after watching Archie Barnett's interview in its entirety.
Shout out, salute to you Archie I remember him from 99 prince st. The loft David Mancuso salute he is the real deal authentic. One of the best to do it.glad he still around lost so many paradise garage people, zanzibar,Loft people keep our culture and music going.the parties are still going but in the parks in the tri state.soul summit, coney island,Lincoln Park and roselle,N.J.the young people have to learn from us.they are dying in the streets drugs, gangs, broken homes.love saves the day peace.
A treasure trove of knowledge. Thank you for sitting down with Archie to film this in depth interview! Much appreciated!
Life is the classroom...Pay attention!
THIS IS ......DDDEEEEEPPPPPP DEEP DEEP !!!!! He's just explained (among others) the spirit of the PARADISE GARAGE and THE LOFT!!!!!!
I can't believe he didn't say ROXY'S, even though it was mostly hip hop it still attracted a large diverse crowd. But his list is very very very impressive.
This is a wonderful Interview! I really enjoyed it!
"DANCE is the by product of the MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..Alwaysssssssssssss how it moves you alwayssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
I love this......
i am from a whole "nuther" ballgame ...Plus escape from situations in my life....... professional personal and beyond ...My feet tell my story....TELL THEM ABOUT IT ARCHIE
And on what he says of house scene changed ...(i'm getting goose bumps remembering this) ...i could see it!!! When i first got into Club Zanzibar...it was about the dance, in a short while it became about being COOL, like people started to start standing around more and more instead of dancing. Then when i started going to Club Shelter(92-96) it stayed ..FREE ??? ...in terms of the spirit of the dance and socializing ...but ....eventually ...it changed. It started to take on that....AGGRESSIVE , HARD, I'M COOLER THAN YOU, I KNOW THESE PEOPLE OVER HERE AND YOU DON'T.......younger!!!.........it just got real ugly, and i remember a girl (Ms. Evelyn) saying that's why the original Garage/Loft crowd really didn't come to Shelter anymore (back then) and i remember seeing a lot of that crowd when i first got there but in like 2 to 3 yrs ...they stopped. But yes i remember it changing ...for the worse.
Fantastic! I'd love to know the song with Archie and Bravo, 22:50.
