- Greetings, my fellow Tingleheads! Tonight's Thrifty Tingles features an adorable salt & pepper set I found a couple of months ago, plus a beautiful chess and checkers set, all for under the $5 limit. I still have a new role play on the way that I'm excited to share with you, but, in the meantime, I hope you enjoy this video!

My mom caught me listening to this when i was asleep and thought it was a weird kinky video for people with ear fetishes xD, But now she watches them too and it helps with her anxiety! Shes addicted and she comes up to me all the time telling me about asmr artists she finds.

In the animal salt and Pepper set, I think the whale is actually the pepper, even though its bigger. Usually, pepper thingies like that have 1 hole while the salt has 3 so you can pour more.
On another note, I loved this video, like always made me very relaxed :D
It depends. There's no set standard. There are generalizations but those also differ based on the region. iirc in the US it's more common for salt to have less holes than pepper.
Raven Feare really? that's wierd... because usually, yo upour more salt than pepper on your food. but oh well...

Ally, I can't even begin to explain how thankful I am for you and your videos. This is not the first time you saved me from one of my awful panic attacks, which are getting worse day by day. This time it wasn't only your soft, calming voice, but more of the memories about your grandad you shared with us. When I was little, I also played checkers and chess lots of times with my beloved grandad, who passed away almost 6 years ago, and whom I still think about every day. You playing with chess pieces reminded me of the times we spent together with my grandad. Just like your grandad always let you be red in checkers, mine always let me play with the black pieces in chess since those were my favourite for some reason. I teared up a little bit as well at the end of the video but it made me forget about all my problems for a short while, and think of my grandad instead of the panic, for which I can't thank you enough. You truly brighten up my life! Thank you so much for all your help, Ally. If it wasn't for you, I don't know where I would be these days.

I kinda choked up when you started talking about your grandfather. We have in common that we share some rather strong and fond memories of our grandfathers, and I could tell you were having a bit of a moment. My grandfather is no longer with me, and my heart goes out to you if the case is the same.
The slot in the Bishop is there to look like a ceremonial hat. It is also there to show that the Bishop moves in diagonal directions.
That is what I learned while being in a chess club when I was younger :)

The queen actually goes on it's color... so the white queen goes on the white square. This means that bot players king and queen will be across from each other.
I guess technically the way you did it plays out the same for all intentional purposes but they way I pointed out is the "proper" way.

I always interpreted the shapes and marks on the chess pieces as representing their degrees of movement on the board. The rook has 4 notches (tower battlements) for the linear directions of movement for the piece. The knight is "L-shaped." The arc on the bishop face implying two diagonals intersecting. Queen has points on her crown pointing to all directions. Great vid! I learned to play as a kid, never mastered it tho. Do another video when you learn to play.
the top of the bishop is meant to look like a bishop's mitre. you did have your king and queen pieces mixed up in the wrong spaces on both sides. the easiest way to remember is the queen gets to start on her matching color (white queen on a white space, black queen on black space).
That looks like the same exact chess set my family used to have in their camper to use on road trips. Ours still has the box it originally came in. We also keep our pieces in ziplock bags.

The porcelain salt and pepper shakers are such an amazing tapping sound. Gave me shivers all the way down my neck! Awesome video.

I have to say you have the best asmr videos. Whenever I have troubles falling asleep I look for asmr videos to kinda distract myself and be soothing enough I drift off and nothing helps more than yours. thank you for the great stress relievers :)

The notch is usually on the top of the bishop and is to represent a bishop's hat. Loved the video btw.

The bishop piece has the cut diagonally to sort of resemble their ceremonial caps, which had a diagonal sort of shape to them. This is also why the bishop only moves diagonally. :)

The background and lighting on this video is so relaxing... great job.
Ally, your eye makeup is impeccable in this video. BTW, in North America, Pepper shakers generally have more holes than salt shakers. In Europe, it's just the opposite. Also, the "cut" on the Bishop is supposed to represent the bottom of the Mitre Hat that Bishops wear. Also your chessboard setup was correct except for the Queens begin on their color (light on light square, dark on dark).

Hi, not sure if someone answered already, but the bishop is wearing a knight's armour, I believe. The opening in the top is for the bishop to peer out of the helmet and visor.

Chess is actually not very difficult to learn. Getting really good at it takes years, but just learning it well enough to be able to play against someone you can do 20 minutes. A chess strategy asmr video sounds awesome! :D
