Box sets to me just seem like great ways to save on shelf space so i really like them. One of the reasons i'm holding back on black clover as I really want a box set 🤞
I’m surprised we have not received a box set for Black Clover yet! My guess the next one we might see is for Dr. Stone
I also like how the dragon ball box set did a complete picture for their volumes. Akira is one of my favorite box sets and I was surprised to see it on here.
The Akita box set is a true masterpiece! Thanks for watching
I just bought the first box set for one piece. Everything is present but there seems to be enough space to fit 2-3 more books. Is this common? Every other image I’ve seen doesn’t seem to have that extra space present. New manga reader so just curious if this is your experience.
That is interesting. When you open up the book underneath the number printed edition, would you mind sharing where the books were printed? Example: Canada, Italy, USA
@@GeeksThatParent they were printed in the USA, some books were on different printed editions. For example the first book is on its 23rd printing while another was on the 20th and 19th.
I was wondering if maybe the box was made bigger for some reason.
@@PKzenn Sounds like everything should be normal. Weird
Hey GTP, have you thought about doing a top 10 manga for younger readers? Would love to compile a list for my 9 year old!
That is a great idea! My very first video I shared my top manga and graphic novels for kids. My kids favorites are Yotsuba, Pokemon Adventures, Witch Hat Atelier, Chi Sweet Home, Cells at work, and Snow White with the Red hair to name a few. As always I highly recommend reading the first couple volumes for yourself
Thank you for the suggestions!
Oooh!! The pandora hearts boxset looks so cool!!! Now I know what to buy as a new years gift to myself!! Thanks for the reccommendation!!
Also! Question! I've never used Abe books before, how long do you wait until they ship their books? I'm trying to look at new places to buy manga since rightstuff is moving to crunchy, and I saw Abe books but I wasn't so sure because their rating on trustpilot wasn't so high? But then again, people are more quick to complain than to compliment, so any info would be super helpful!!
Abebooks is more of a site for other distributors to sell their books. Typically I will receive an order within 5 business days. I have had a couple of times where used books I bought were not as described. I have never had a problem receiving a full refund through Abebooks customer support thought email.
@@GeeksThatParent ooh! Thank you++
Perfect timing Scott I was just thinking about getting some boxsets and I was looking at claymore and Tokyo ghoul.
What’s your opinion on claymore?
I have not finished Claymore but from what I have read so far the story has a bit of a Witcher feel to it. I keep kicking myself for not finishing the series.
@@GeeksThatParent ok Scott, I love the Witcher. So I’m really looking forward to this. Thanks scott.
Viz's box set price increase has started with One Piece box set one going from MSRP $185.99 to $244.99. For now, the other three One Piece box sets are still $185.99 MSRP, or lower, since they're still in stock at most places and haven't yet gone through the latest round of reprinting & restocking.
Yikes! That is such a huge jump in price. Thank you for the heads up
As someone with over 50 manga box sets some tips I can give is never buy over MSRP, always look out for sales and be patient, most box sets come back in stock after a while.
Totally agree! Great tip
Very nice video and collection, I like how well organized your manga are in the background. Where did you buy those shelves from?.
Thank you! These shelves are Billy's from Ikea. The doors for the shelves are also from Ikea called Oxberg.
@@GeeksThatParent Thank you so sooo much!!!,I didn’t even know they sell doors for the bookshelves. I think the way you display your manga is genius cause there will be less dust inside!!.
@@ilovespicynoodles Thank you!
Hello there claymore is started not to close properly it opens by itself after a while do you have any suggestions to keep it closed? did you encounter this problem
I am so sorry I have not had that problem with my Claymore Box set. It sounds like the velcro is maybe wearing out?
@@GeeksThatParent yes but it was like this since the first month i guess i need to put some glue on it to make it effective
You have so many Boxsets 😮great video
Thank you!
I miss my Bleach box sets, but I'm so glad I kept my individual Pandora Hearts.
Would you ever consider picking up the Bleach box sets again?
@@GeeksThatParent That's a very good question 🤔 I'm not really sure I would, I only really liked the arrancar arc in the manga and anime. As soon as Aizen was strapped in his chair that was it for me. I really like Muramasa in the filler anime arc too.
I was actually going to sell my Pandora Hearts collection, but I'm so glad I held back on that seen as the prices are beyond belief. Have Black Butler too, but thankfully that got to boring to finish or else I'd be well and truly out of money 🤣
@@WhatBigClawsYouHave It is becoming an expensive hobby.
@@GeeksThatParent I dare not look up Hellsing, lol. I had it once, but its gone and I don't miss it. Happy that we have the anime to be a very close adaptation. I have two expensive hobbies, thankfully I'm done with manga collecting. Pandora Hearts, Alice in the Country of Hearts and Black Butler are the ones I'm holding back. My mind is made up now thankfully.
Though it really shouldn't be right that we have to almost work ourselves to death for our hobbies.
The Akira and Pandora Hearts box sets! 🤩
So gorgeous!
Great video Scott! Really enjoyed it! I wanted to let you know I have the Tokyo Ghoul, first two of One Piece, last two of Naruto, Death Note, Bakuman, and A Silent Voice.
That is a nice collection of box sets!
I only have one box set wnd that is the nichijou 15th anniversary box set (which is now outdated because of volume 11 and the redone cover art). I will absolutely buy a CITY boxset if they made one lol
Also I would love for VIZ to give gintama a box set (after they complete a full series translation, all 70 some Vols)
On my dream list is Gintama receiving a complete translation in English. I would take a box set or even 3 in 1’s at this point
first
Congratulations!
love this video and your channel! i just picked up my first box set, which is death note, it should arrive tommorrow! also i would love to see more openings, especially box sets :))
sorry for mistakes, english is not my first language😅
No worries!
Thank you! I should make a few more.
The akira 35th anniversary box set is by far my favorite in my collection too. its so incredibly high quality. and its one of the only english sets that read right to left. since the others for some reason mirrored them, and had to redo a lot of art. this set is probably the biggest gold mine set in terms of proper way of reading. plus the extra book has so much interesting stuff in it, it wasnt just bloat like some sets do, it had meaningful thought put into it. im so glad we got this set and not some crappy reprint of the older ones in a box.
Well said! I am not sure I could market the Akira 35th Anniversary box set better myself. I am glad that Kodansha gave Akira the anniversary treatment it deserved.
