This is their version and the late John Lennon loved John's version and wished they were able to do a similar style. Welcome to the John Farnham rabbit hole. A career spanning over 50 years. This guy can sing ANYTHING. From opera to driving rock, and everything in between.
John Farnham is known as "THE VOICE". Just to let you know ALL of ur reactions to him need to be based of LIVE ONLY performances, to give him ANY justice. He can sing any genre, any note, technically perfect LIVE always. This song was an encore performance after a 3hr concert. It's originally an up tempo classic by the Beatles but even John Lennon himself said Farnsey as we call him sang it how it should have been sung. Farnsey & Barnsey (Jimmy Barnes from Cold Chisel) go wayyy back & both still have the best selling album records of all time which will never be beat. They've a duet "When Something is wrong with my Baby", a blues hit worth checking out live. Both have 50yr careers so you've quite the rabbit hole. JF did all genres & even starred in the lead in "Jesus Christ Superstar the musical" (best selling musical in Australia as a result w other Aus musicians) Queen asked JF to replace Freddie & he said NO. So if that doesn't speak volumes to his vocal abilities I don't know what else will. He also has a song which even today is still officiallyknown as "Australia's unofficial national anthem (he has had a few anthems) but it's called "You're the Voice". I'd recommend reacting to that song at the same concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. One of my all time favourites is a ballad w just him & an acoustic guitarist called "Burn for You". Must do live & it still brings tears to my eyes & goosebumps to re-watch live. He isn't just a rock singer (that said there is in audio only version he did in a soundcheck that often gets reacted to of "Black Dog". His version is just as good if not better & he literally was just "warming up his voice" with it pre-concert. You want 10K subscribers best keep reacting to Australian artists, in particular John, Jimmy & Cold Chisel. That was the second encore last song of the night, 2 hr 23 min concert that finished at 12 24am was raining like he'll outside so being carefully on the way home he had 13 concerts at that venue in 2 months huge concerts all live he preferred at was always better live
@@tazzznphilly I have never heard an act suggest to their audience to be careful getting home before seeing this clip (since seen it hundreds of times). Good on you John. Get well soon mate, we all love you too.
John Lennon & Paul McCartney wrote HELP and The Beatles sang it, originally an upbeat version. John Farnham slowed it down. He always engages his audience and has fun and talks with them. Listening to you talk after song, u asked for John songs lol. He’s been singing here from aged 18 till his 70s. Decades of music lol. Any genre, Rock to humorous Opera and even 😂 Old MacDonald had a Farm lol, and everything in between.
This concert was advertised as John and his Big Band in typical Aussie understatement, it's a 100+ piece orchestra for crying out loud. lol This song is one of the last songs of the night after he has already sung his heart out for nearly 3 hours, and Farnsey also has a way of getting deep into the emotions of your soul. A couple of songs worth checking have been mentioned below, plus these are worth a look also. The reason you haven't heard of him is because the US music industry is a closed little club. When John Farnham went to the US they didn't know which genre to put him in so his US promotions manager got him a couple of gigs in a little jazz club, where the MC introduced him as Jack Phantom. Couldn't even be bothered getting his name correct, so being a bit disheartened he wandered home to concentrate on his loyal fan base. The experience did give him inspiration to write a couple of good songs about missing his family, like this one. -Burn For You.. ruclips.net/video/4PPvOhPspEA/видео.html -Angels.. Notice how he holds the mike below his chest, both mikes are a metre away, which he does all the time to not drown out the other singers. JF with Lisa Edwards, a top singer in her own right, and one of John's back up singers for 20+ years. ruclips.net/video/5_2NJRIdBO8/видео.html -To show the calibre of his other back up Singers, showing you have to be good in your own right, just like Lisa. Vanetta Fields and Lindsey Field. ruclips.net/video/_x6N94OEkZQ/видео.html -Please Don't Ask Me.. This one with Olivia Newton John, who we have recently lost. John has also had major cancer surgery including removal of part of his jaw and we may not hear him sing again. So let's enjoy this one as well.. ruclips.net/video/2uV_tZODfK8/видео.html -When Something Is Wrong With My Baby.... And even when he is singing with one of the most powerful voices on the planet, Jimmy Barnes, he still put the mike away from his face and closer to Jonny Diesel on guitar. ruclips.net/video/AU_bCchDWF4/видео.html Or this version. ruclips.net/video/RAlFHSPLHpo/видео.html -When The War Is Over… Possibly one of his greatest vocals. ruclips.net/video/lfWrXc5eN8g/видео.html -Or is the greatest. Gethsemane.. ruclips.net/video/k5woMZtClhI/видео.html -How about a mike test. He has the power and ability to distort microphones, amps, and get speaker stacks jumping. So this sort of setting up the venue test is a must. Lol Black Dog. ruclips.net/video/F2Yi6TVi-sU/видео.html Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato, timbre and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.
I'm surprised that you didn't know this very famous BEATLES song which was written for their movie of the same name, when John Lennon heard this version from John Farnham he remarked that thiswas the way he had intended it to be performed but that the BEATLES verion was sped up for the movie . John Farnham, known as Farnsey to all us Aussies is an Australian national treasure loved by all who love music ,he always interacts with his audiences and believe me they did sing ths song all the way through the sound technician deliberately tones them down for the most part . Do yourself and your subscribers a favour and check out the rest of this 2hr concert , you won't be disappointed .
This song has so much meaning for John Farnham and all of his fans who have stuck by him for decades. It really was a cry for Help from him at the time. He was a huge Teen Idol and King of Pop in Australia back in the late 60's and into the mid 70's. But through bad management, bad investments and changing tastes in music, he had pretty much hit rock bottom by the mid 70's. He was broke and considered to be a has been and too old fashioned and was pretty much relegated to the caberet scene. There was point he couldn't even afford to buy his kids a cheap McDonalds birthday meal. In 1980, he took this old Beatles hit and re-arranged it into a slow power ballad and put his own spin in it, and sang it with such emotion and passion that we couldnt help but pay attention. It was the beginning of a 6 year journey, (with the help of his new manager, Glenn Wheatley and a 5 year stint as the Lead Singer for the Little River Band)... to getting back to the top as a solo artist. With the release of his album Whispering Jack in 1986, which became the highest ever selling Album in Australian history, John was back. He is the only artist in Australian history (and possibly the world) who has had songs and albums at the top of our charts, in 7 consecutive decades since 1967 right up to his most recent album Finding the Voice released May 2023. He is now in his 70's he is still as popular today as he has ever been. A true Aussie Icon and most beloved Aussie entertainer of all time.. So when he sings this song with the passion that he always does, we all know how real it is and we are all proud that we helped him get there.
Thank you Carolyn. 😁. Thank you for a wonderful comment that I fully read. Philly and I love to be educated. Positive comments we enjoy. We like being educated about Artists we react to. I learned soooooo much about John - in just ur comment alone. ~ Tazzz ~

John didn't want to travel far from his family so us Aussie were lucky enough to keep him to ourselves. Check out his song "you're the voice" from the same concert. The song is legendary and every generation knows it, if it's played everyone belts it out, it's our unofficial anthem. He has an amazing voice and has to professional training.
Bear in end; this is at the end of a 1/2 performance. You can understand why John is known as "The Voice" here in Australia. A national treasure; and by the way he interacts with his audience you can see he is genuinely a shining example if a good human; humble, friendly and open. (It is pronounced Far-num; not Farn-ham)
Thanks for that. The audience "Helped" John. There are times he actually asks the audience to sing when it is really appropriate for the song. You've probably heard the song "You're the Voice", although you may not recognise it by the name, and would not know that it is John's original song, but he asks the auidience there to sing to emphasise that they are the voice.
You have listened to Jimmy Barnes from Cold Chisel, and now you have listened to John Farnham; both great Australian artists, you now need to listen to Barnsey and Farnsey as they sing their version of the 1966 Sam and Dave song When Something is Wrong With My Baby from Jimmy's Soul Deep album. You will be taken to church. Check out their duet from the Australian TV show Hey Hey It's Saturday 1991.
That is a Beatles song, check out the singers and musicians on stage, John gets the best, head lines themselves. His duets include everyone from opera to Ray Charles.
It's a huge compliment to have thousands of people singing to the performer. Most performers would be thrilled to be in that position. You should have waited at the beginning before saying you didn't want to hear the audience singing, listen first then comment.
OK, you just entered the "Farnsy" rabbit hole.... check out "Your the voice" and his cover of AC/DCs "Its a long to the top if you want to rock and roll".... always take John's live performances.... no auto-tune etc. This number was at the end of a 2 1/2 hour show... such great participation with the audience.
More John Please The Voice next please. This is the classic Beatles track slowed down and totally owned by John. John Lennon once said that this version was how he wrote it to be sung but their echoed label made the Beatles seed it up to be more of a sixties pop tune. Still made no 1 for them but am so glad John did it his way 😂❤ But yes please do the Voice by John next 😂❤
his version of led zepplins blach dog will blow ya mind, specially when ya consider he used that song as a warm up....but also give an ear to when something is wrong with my bay, duet with jimmy barnes specially the live version

John Lennon from the Beatles wrote this, he was forced to do an upbeat version though. He liked this arrangement. The audience singing was purely out of love for this guy. This was an encore after 2 hours of singing a concert, and still sounding great.
His audience knows which songs they can sing to and which ones not. He encourages them to sing. He interacts with them. Telling jokes collecting flowers and gifts. He creates a party atmosphere, where he wants them to have fun. He doesn't sing at them, he sings to them, and with them.
“You shouldn’t be singing it like joking or kidding” Oh you mean like the original by the Beatles? 😁 I mean, I agree, but it was amusing to hear you say it
Audience singing and John singing - one and the same : the fans love John, and John loves and appreciates, and is grateful to, his fans. They're just one big family. I joined the "fan family" just over a year ago. @DR_KAP remixes a lot of Farnsey videos, makes a huge difference to the originals. Apr'24. UK. E ❤
That's cool mate, your American. Great for you to find out there is a world out there! This was a Bettles song, you may have heard of them. Hope you can understand people from other countries...........
If you have time, listen to the original song by The Beatles; and you will understand, how much better this version is. Enjoy the journey, and be aware of the rabbit hole that you may find yourself falling into with this talented singer.
The song isn't a cry for help, never has been...Beatles version is a guy asking a girl to be his wife..Farnsey's version (my opinion) is asking his wife to help him keep his family orientated feet on the ground in his 2nd big run on the chart's 🤔..depression and the need for help didn't exist back then 😉🤙
Never heard of The Beatles ? right. Lennon-McCartney are just about the greatest song writers in history..... undoubtedly the last 120yrs. Johns version of a Beatles song is a ballad whereas the original is not. Research both.

Ur welcome. Oh wow, he sang with Olivia! I never heard of him before neither. Happy you enjoyed, Jacqui.

That was the second encore last song of the night, 2 hr 23 min concert that finished at 12 24am was raining like he'll outside so being carefully on the way home he had 13 concerts at that venue in 2 months huge concerts all live he preferred at was always better live
Ohhhh wow. Thats sounds intense. Thanks for the intel, Jenny. 😏. ~ Tazzz ~

This concert was advertised as John and his Big Band in typical Aussie understatement, it's a 100+ piece orchestra for crying out loud. lol
This song is one of the last songs of the night after he has already sung his heart out for nearly 3 hours, and Farnsey also has a way of getting deep into the emotions of your soul.

-Angels..
Notice how he holds the mike below his chest, both mikes are a metre away, which he does all the time to not drown out the other singers.
JF with Lisa Edwards, a top singer in her own right, and one of John's back up singers for 20+ years.

-To show the calibre of his other back up Singers, showing you have to be good in your own right, just like Lisa.
Vanetta Fields and Lindsey Field.

-Please Don't Ask Me..
This one with Olivia Newton John, who we have recently lost. John has also had major cancer surgery including removal of part of his jaw and we may not hear him sing again. So let's enjoy this one as well..
ruclips.net/video/2uV_tZODfK8/видео.html
-When Something Is Wrong With My Baby....
And even when he is singing with one of the most powerful voices on the planet, Jimmy Barnes, he still put the mike away from his face and closer to Jonny Diesel on guitar.

Or this version.

-When The War Is Over…

-Or is the greatest.
Gethsemane..

-How about a mike test.
He has the power and ability to distort microphones, amps, and get speaker stacks jumping. So this sort of setting up the venue test is a must. Lol

Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato, timbre and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.

John didn't want to travel far from his family so us Aussie were lucky enough to keep him to ourselves. Check out his song "you're the voice" from the same concert.

John is the Goat....best range and voice you'll ever hear
I'm surprised at how few people of our age recognize the song from the Beatles. Great reaction, thanks. ❤
Appreciate you, Desiree. Ur welcome. 😏

Thanks for the laugh. Haha. 😏 ~| Tazzz |~

You got it! 😏

"Pressure down" live especially when he sings it in his late 60s I believe shows his awesome range and energy which is contagious ! It was at a benefit concert i just can't remember which one. But you should check that one out Tazzz.
Hey from Australia, loved you facial expressions when he hit those high notes 😊, great reaction. Honestly this isn't my favourite song but I love his voice and connection with the crowd.

You do know this is a Beatles song from the 60’s???🤪
John Lennon from the Beatles wrote this, he was forced to do an upbeat version though. He liked this arrangement. The audience singing was purely out of love for this guy. This was an encore after 2 hours of singing a concert, and still sounding great.
His audience knows which songs they can sing to and which ones not. He encourages them to sing. He interacts with them. Telling jokes collecting flowers and gifts. He creates a party atmosphere, where he wants them to have fun. He doesn't sing at them, he sings to them, and with them.
Ha, ha, you haven't heard of Help by the Beetles 😂😂😂😂

The song isn't a cry for help, never has been...Beatles version is a guy asking a girl to be his wife..Farnsey's version (my opinion) is asking his wife to help him keep his family orientated feet on the ground in his 2nd big run on the chart's 🤔..depression and the need for help didn't exist back then 😉🤙
