Seeing Steve Davis getting upset while talking about the late Alex Higgins and the great matches they had shows the class of the man coz I'm pretty sure at one time they couldn't stand each other but ultimately respected each others talents . RIP alex Higgins

I think Alex said as much after their epic UK Final in 1983. Both great players I think they needed each other, I think every sport needs that great rivalry.

I think now the old warrior's would be quite friendly towards one another. But yes back then they really couldn't stand one another.

I think that’s part of where the emotion comes from, and it largely came from Higgins of course.

Didn't much care for Alex Higgins as a person - but there is no argument that he was primary reason the sport became appealing to a wider audience towards the end of the 1970's. And his 69 break against Jimmy White in the 1982 semi final is still the GREATEST frame winning break in snooker history.

Steve Davis had a lot of respect for Alex Higgins even though they were bitter rivals, seeing Steve Davis getting emotional about Alex Higgins made me cry too. His daughter Lauren is so lovely, her dad would of been proud of her.

Very sad to see Steve Davis get upset while talking about Alex, the were the glory days of snooker with a whole list of characters that will never be matched again so you can see where his sadness came from. Its all too clinical now. When snooker ruled the world....... Great times

Steve and Alex had respect for each other. Respect to Steve Davis for saying Alex was a great snooker player and having a tear in his eye whilst saying it. Top guy.

The passion is incredible, for a table and some balls, taken lightly. But for an indepth grasp of the whole concept, the experience, the knowledge and talent, the emotion. It is an amazing game. To have met and shook hands with some of the players, Ronnie, Hendry and more, is a nothing short of a blessing. The honor for Higgins, Jimmy, Cliff and so many more, I mean, Terry, Dennis, Steve... wow, just wow. For a table, and some balls.

I actually saw Cliff Thorburn, in person, doing a snooker demonstration at Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario) in the late 1970's; at the time, I had no idea what snooker even was, but the "trick shots" he did that afternoon were astounding. I got to play some snooker with a few farmers in Manitoba a few years later, and then, once I had cable tv in BC in the mid 1980's, I could watch Steve Davis work his magic, and was hooked.

"What If's" are always intriguing! What if Davis had potted that final black instead of Dennis Taylor ... would they be such good friends and co-hosts today? Snooker is a wonderful lesson in saying, "It is what it is!" I think there is only one player that i really have disliked over the decades, and that is Peter Ebdon, simply because he "used" his slowness as a tool to disrupt the rhythm of opponents who were far more skilled than he himself. I guess if that was his best tool, one has to applaud his use of it, but I just found it irritating.

so many memories! I watched the Steve Davis-Dennis Taylor final on "cable tv" in Victoria, British Columbia (my sons have NO idea what "cable tv" is!), cheering for Davis, who for me was the perfectionist of snooker; and now I get to watch snooker on u-tube, and have been "following" Ronnie O'Sullivan for several years. If I think of Steve Davis as the perfectionist, Ronnie is the "magician" of snooker, and win or lose, he brings sheer magic to the table. Sportsman of the Year ... high time for him to be so designated! Great to see Davis continuing to be involved in snooker, as is Dennis Taylor, and others. This documentary shows us how snooker players form "family" in unique ways.

On reflection, I'd probably have to rate Steve Davis above hendry.
Hendry was like a shooting star and once he was burnt out he was done, Davis beat ronnie, from behind in the masters in 1997.
Was still in the top 16 as well long after his last world title, beat mcmanus, ebdon, Doherty and ronnie in that masters and Beat higgins in his last world's in 2010 who was world champion at the time.
Hendry didn't have that game or match play snooker and after his loss to ebdon in 2002 was pretty much done.
