What many do seem to not realize is that Jimmy White has been the main rival if you like for two separate eras, both Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry. This says a lot about him and even though he unfortunately never had that killer instinct to kill finals off, (which is why I think he never won the world title), he was still there for all that time competing.

  • @oddsandwindsocks5905

Remember watching him in all his finals, just praying that he was going to win. And hating hendry too. He was the best player never to win, but still a lovely man. So pleased he got the 147 ,

Jimmy White effectively taught me how to play snooker by imitating his 'twitchy' bridge hand and getting the 'rub of the green'.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a cue signed by Jimmy left on a brick wall, as if it was meant for me. It was a bloody magical moment but I can't blame him for my lack of other breaks.
It's sad that he missed so many opportunities in his prime but he left a great impression on more people than money will ever mean.

I still think his natural talent trumps the Hurricanes and the Rockets.

And that was the last of him except 1 ranking tournament win in 2004...just never had the bottle.

They all beat Jimmy in finals because when he was Infront they all didn't mind losing to their idle and it gave them the edge of no pressure or stress.

Love jimmy..... Love alex..... Could not watch hendry, so depressing personality, jimmy, alex, and few others made snooker great.... Ronnie is great, snooker needs more real men like Jimmy ....... Won't even bother mentioning any other players, they wer very depressing to watch.......

He’s never won coz of match fixing ! It’s easy to make so much more then by winning! There’s no way he would lose to a little kid like Hendry from a little place called Scotland where there was hardly any dinner tables nevermind snooker! NO ONE could miss those shots not even a blind mentalist with downs and has no arms and legs or cue and thinks it a dinner table ! How’d he nods those shots beyond and leaves me speechless
