    I didn't know hendry won 5 masters in a row' legend!!!

      I often see people bashing him, saying he only looked good because everyone else sucked or whatever. Nonsense. A lot of folk now don't realise what a machine the guy was in the 90s and 00s. He beat Ronnie multiple times back then too, Hendry was solid.

      Mate he won 5 consecutive world titles at the crucible and reached the final of the 6th!! He was unbeaten at the crucible for 6 years (29 consecutive matches)
      He holds the longest ever winning streak at 36 consecutive matches in ranking events. He won 7 world titles in 9 years and reached 9 world championship finals in a 12 year period. He was ranked world number one for 9 seasons.....8 of them consecutively!!! It's actually ridiculous if you stop and think about it!!

    Rob Walker is wrong to describe Stephen Hendry as being the one and only King of the Crucible as Hendry and O'Sullivan have both won it 7 times each.

    • @graemejack9040
      @graemejack9040 4 месяца назад +2

      Rob walker isn't wrong saying that about Hendry!! That has been one of Hendry's two snooker nicknames since the 90's along with " The Golden Boy ".
      Hendry is called King Of The Crucible because he won 7 world titles in a 9 year period. He won 5 consecutive world titles and reached the final of the 6th!!!! He was unbeaten there for 6 years winning 29 consecutive matches!!! Just actually think about that.....That is why he is king of the crucible!!! Ronnie himself would tell you that!!!

      @@graemejack9040 It was easier for Hendry to win those World titles because there was hardly anyone who could beat him; unlike in the 21st century where there are lots of players who are potential World champions who could challenge and beat each other.

    • @graemejack9040
      @graemejack9040 4 месяца назад +1

      @PSYCHIC_PSYCHO I don't buy that argument. Davis, Jimmy White, Ronnie, Higgins and Williams were all there in the 90's. I mean since Hendry won his first title in 1990, 21 of the 33 world championship titles belong to just 4 players! Hendry, Higgins, Ronnie and Williams!

    • @PSYCHIC_PSYCHO
      @PSYCHIC_PSYCHO 4 месяца назад

      @@graemejack9040 By the end of the 80's Davis was finished. O'Sullivan was a newcomer who was promising but even he didn't pose any threat to Hendry, the Class of '92 were formidable towards the turn of the century; only Jimmy White posed a real threat to Hendry as they clashed in 4 World Finals. Lastly even Hendry himself has openly admitted that during his reign he dominated because no one could match him, he also admitted that the modern game of the 21st century is harder because there are so many more potential World champions.

      It’s generally a prerecorded podcast. This event was recorded, live, with the audience there in the room. This event was recorded live as opposed to being broadcast live. Hope that clears up your question.

    Watched Stephen Hendry beat Jimmy White at the Masters in 1990. Was completely mesmerised by their impressive mullets. Great game and a great venue. Saw Davis beat Hallet in that 9-0 final, think everyone in the arena was gutted for Mike.

    Apparently Alan Partridge is suing Rob Walker for breach of copyright. I absolutely hate the "Boxing Walk-on" crap, especially when done by Rob "The Cheesemeister" Walker (if we're using Walk-on nicknames).

    My question is: What will happen to the popularity of Snooker in the UK in 20 years, when it is dominated by Chinese players?
    It must happen, given the number of Chinese playing the game, and the closure of traditional British clubs.

      Zhang Anda will single-handedly kill the game off in the UK and Europe.
