The Eighties was a great era of Snooker. So many great players to watch. My favourite players of that era were Alex Higgins, Jimmy White, Kirk Stevens and Willie Thorne, really exciting and attacking players who gave me so much enjoyment. Thanks for this upload.

Reardon enjoying a twilight to his career in this final having been so dominant in the 70s. Steve Davies was to dominate the majority of the 80s. What a talent Higgins was and 2 world titles to his name was to be proud of and perhaps would have won more had he not has his troubles off the table. Hell of a player and entertainer.

@David Robinson try to ignore the stick you get, stay with what you believe, criticism goes with the territory. I'm with you if that's any consolation. Alex was a snooker genius, brilliant, showy and controversial, because of his temperament, but it can't be denied, that was all a part of the amazing package that was Alex Higgins and it won him two world Titles.

@David Robinson You'd be right, yes. I was born 23rd December 1969, the last week of the sixties and the year of the moon-landing. The 70s for me were fine, nice memories, but the 80s were horrible for me personally, a horrible childhood and bad memories, and it's only now that I've been able to enjoy the great music and movies and everything else from the extraordinary era now that times for me are much better. Nice to know another 1969er! Gerard Butler was also born that year by the way, (huge fan, Angel Has Fallen, Geostorm) a month earlier than me.

I find it interesting that they used mismatched rests in a semi-final of a world championship. In the Reardon-Charlton match, Charlton eyes up the rest at 56:29. You'll notice that it has one of those cheap, white plastic rest heads. However, about six minutes later in the same frame, Reardon uses the rest from the other end of the table (102:23) and you'll notice that it's a proper brass rest with the black plastic feet. You'd expect something like that on a club table, but not at the Crucible! Kinda strange. Great video though. Thanks for the upload.

    • @vmax4steve524

The plastic headed rest was Charlton's own, he prefered them so took his own to tournaments.
