    I really like firebrand, but I feel that it lacks the ranged options it needs to truly shine in open world play. Hopefully dual pistols coming next year change that.

  • @GlennaciousC
    @GlennaciousC 2 месяца назад +1

    Hey Phandrel, is this build still relevant with the introduction of pistols? Should I swap my scepter for a pistol or is scepter still a decent pick?

    • @phandrel
      @phandrel  2 месяца назад +2

      scepter is a decent pick, but gets outshined by the new pistol. I would say to keep axe/torch in one set and either pistol/x or pistol/pistol in the second. Once Janthir Wilds is out, I plan on an update of all of my builds.

    • @phandrel

      Still works rather fine, although you'll want to include a relic. For most Damage, something like Fractal will be the best option, but there's some utility relics that can come in handy too (Wayfinder for speed, Cerus if you want to have some fun with your Elite, etc.).

    I don't know why but, and I feel sad about this, Guardian never clicked for me. I'm going to give another go for this builds though. Maybe 67864753th time's the charm.

      Willbender is 10x times more fun than Firebrand if you're just Open World roaming.

      If it's not your playstyle, you will feel like grinding teeth while playing it. I have the most fun with firebrand because it's my favorite style of play. 😂

      @@DjNastetrue I use WB on my guard for open world. However, for a newer guardian FB open world is extremely tanky in celestial. I do WB celestial but with less boon and stability access it's not so easy to solo bosses

  • @aidanwaite7960

    Would it be fine to run this build with just greatsword I know it's not very condi focused but it feels really good on guardian

    • @phandrel
      @phandrel  5 месяцев назад +1

      It'll work, and if you make sure to use GS 4 > 2 as a combo, you should still inflict quite a bit of bleeding. Alternatively, this is more of a PvP build (although I changed some utilities) that uses GS and Sw/Focus, that works in open world too: gw2skills.net/editor/?PWwAEx3lRweYXsJGJWuPqvcA-e
      As for gear, if you have some diviner's, you could potentially maintain perma quickness. Otherwise, any power stat will do. Same for the relic, it's basically whatever you fancy.

  • @Draelos
    @Draelos Год назад +2

    How do you get enough quickness on this build without Potence or any of the major quickness traits? Seems like FMW and Swift Scholar alone won't keep the axe AA pumping between CDs. Axe is so sluggish without it.

    • @phandrel
      @phandrel  Год назад +2

      The easiest way would be to swap in Mantra of Potence for Mantra of Flame or Sword of Justice.
      In the second case, make sure you swap Eternal Armory for Symbolic Avenger.
      For prolonged farming sessions I've been using the Jade Protocols though, which alleviated the need for MoP and allowed me to stack a bit more offense.

    • @Draelos
      @Draelos Год назад +2

      @@phandrel Ahh, thanks. I don't often use the jade protocols outside Cantha, so I haven't been thinking of them for bruildcraft.

    By the way ritualist is also great gear if you also want to do instanced content as offensive support. Still gives you survibility and damage.

    I honestly don't get why we would be running with 'Zeal' instead of 'Virtues'.

    • @phandrel
      @phandrel  Год назад +1

      I like Virtues overall, but I find Kindled Zeal really hard to pass up.

    • @DjNaste
      @DjNaste Год назад +1

      @phandrel Kindled Zeal gives less condition damage than Power of the Virtuos, though. It's a straight damage loss.

    • @PetrSzturc
      @PetrSzturc Год назад +3

      Though only 49 points depending on gear choice etc. Zeal also gives vulnerability to your fields, so you may get more damage out of it. And you deal 5% more strike damage to vulnerable foes. And another 10% with grandmaster. I guess it depends on your choices and it is good to have choices. :)

    • @DjNaste
      @DjNaste Год назад +1

      @PetrSzturc Zeal just seems like the best option if your build is focused on power damage. The extra strike damage is nice, but it is so much less than triggering the justice passive AoE and more often. The strike damage really doesn't matter much for this build. I can see the benefits of a little extra vulnerability, but you can just swap to Balthazar runes to cap burning and replace sigil of smoldering with frailty to get essentially the same result (without the strike dmg boost of course). IDK, I enjoy Phandrel content, but there are a lot of holes in this build specifically.

    • @phandrel
      @phandrel  Год назад +2

      @@DjNaste I like the extra power for some extra upfront damage, but I agree that this wouldn't be the selling point of zeal though. Kindled Zeal, on the other hand, converts 10% of your power to condition damage, which lets us (partly) double dip on the power/condition combo on our Celestial stats.
      I do see your point though.
