Sir Richard Hadlee is one of the finest pace bowler in the history of international cricket, with less support from the other end it was on his shoulders to carry every time the bowling attack.
Just a note on the music at the end - If I were a Rich Man, from Fiddler on the Roof. I remember reading that there was a disparaging song about Richard Hadlee at one point, set to the tune of this song: "If I were a Hadlee, (deedle deedle dum etc) I'd be in the Kiwi cricket team, coz I am the chairman's son. I wouldn't have to bowl straight (deedle deedle dum etc), Full-toss, long-hops, anything will do, coz I am the chairman's son. Just thinking, if that were true, I'm not sure why they'd use it in the video.
Hadlee only scored 2 test centuries, but there was his 99 vs England, and he got at least one other score in the 90s. But the thought of "what might have been" never comes to mind with Hadlee :)
1:07:08 An out swinger! Here in Australia, I remember Lance Cairns being an inseing bowler but that delivery was an out swinger. Commentator describes it as, "...cutting away...". It definitely curved in the air though. Not easy, since Cairns' action was conducive to in swing. Only other bowler I know, who bowls chest on but can deliver a well directed out swinger, is Ben Stokes. Both Cairns & Stokes are South Island lads. Maybe it's something in the water... LOL!
Some extremely dubious umpiring on show which just confirms what has been said by many who toured NZ during this time that the umpires weren't incompetent, they were just cheats. You can't condone some of the behaviour by the WI but you can certainly understand their frustration when you're playing against 13.

Agreed! With so much depending on him, it made sense to economise that run-up.
Hadlee is the greatest swing bowler ever !

I had to laugh at Greg Chappell smacking the streaker!
Forgot that Glynn Tucker called the cricket as well as the racing.
Richard Hadlee looks like Timothy Dalton's character in Hot Fuzz
Looks even more like Timothy Dalton in, Flash Gordon.
20:35 sauce for the goose
you are a great new zealander
