Well, classic disco has the funky drums, wah-wah guitar, Moog synth, Arp String Ensemble sounds, and the boppy bass guitar. And especially in proto-disco (the first disco years), disco groups like KC and the Sunshine Band, and this band--Love Machine - used the tambourine. KC and the Sunshine Band did "Shake Your Booty", which was one of the hottest "tambourine-sounding" disco numbers in early disco.
