Great video Andy and a Fantastic tribute to Bill Walton. Such a great player and broadcaster. The background was super with the Sports Illustrated and the cards. Much thanks.
Andy wonderful tribute to Bill Walton. I learned a lot about him through this and what kind of player he was. You have some really nice pieces of him in your collection. Thanks for sharing the knowledge and shining some light on an all-time great!
Hey Mike! I’m really happy there was something you learned from this. That makes me happy. Thanks so much for watching. Along with all your support. Take care and we’ll talk soon.
Great Tribute to Mr. Walton! He was such an amazing player, it really is too bad his body could not hold up. He was also so much fun to listen to as a commentator! Think you have to add Wilt to that list of best passing centers! Great tribute Andy , well done my friend!
Thanks Steve. Appreciate the kind words. I can’t imagine what the ceiling for him would have been if he was healthy I think we can agree to disagree on Wilt, haha. Thanks again Steve. Hope you’re having a great week.
Hi Andy! This was a beautiful tribute to a great player and amazing man! Really unfortunate that his NBA career was derailed by injuries. Obviously I loved watching him when he played for the Celtics! He really put the finishing touches to that 1985/86 team. A gift from the gods indeed! Thanks for the awesome video!
Hey Jim! It had to be a treat to watch him with Bird and those Celtics. Probably the most overqualified 6th man ever. It’s still insane he only missed two games that year. I think one was a broken nose and the other an illness. Not positive but how fortunate we got to see it. Thanks Jim for the support and the kind words. Best of luck to the Celtics tonight!
Loved your tribute to big Bill. Quite the free spirit. Had a great bank shot and tried to swat blocks to teammates. That UCLA championship game performance you mentioned was nearly perfect, a game you never forget watching. Sucks that he couldn't stay healthy. NC State had a great team with David Thompson. 2 of the best college players I ever saw in a game, they didn’t have the pro careers of Magic and Bird.
Thanks for leaving this great comment Scott. I think Walton is one of the greatest big ifs in basketball. Who knows what his career would have been if he stayed healthy. Very much appreciate you watching this one.
I knew this was going to be a really great tribute video, Andy! I’m a little late watching it but have been looking forward to it. I got to watch Bill’s last few games with Boston in what was his last season but my first year watching the NBA. I remember thinking he was Larry Bird’s brother and not knowing how good he was before the injuries. Thanks for making this video. I love the display you chose. Well done, Andy
Yeah, saw that just hours after posting. NBA has been hit hard in just two weeks. Thanks, Allen. Appreciate the kind words. Hope you’re having a great week!
Great tribute Andy! I definitely heard him call games over the years, but never heard this much of a backstory. Hearing all the stories and memories now he definitely seemed like a beacon of positivity and wise words. Well done my friend
Hey Joe! Thanks for the kind words. Walton was one the games greatest ambassadors from college to the pros, to broadcasting, and retirement. The game took a massive hit when he passed. If he stayed healthy he’s probably a top 10 players of all time. Appreciate the comment Joe and all the support!
Hi Andy, just fantastic! Nothing like a video that is well-presented and from the heart. I did not know San Diego hired Wilt as coach to lure Walton. I also did not know his son Luke was named after Jerry Lucas. What is interesting about Walton is that he showed he could be both the focal point of a team, like with the Blazers, and then a key contributor, as shown on the '86 Celtics. He found authentic joy in both roles. He LOVED being a Celtic. I think he was Larry Bird’s biggest supporter. I like listening to him talk about how great Larry Bird was and the time he shot only left-handed for three quarters against the Blazers. You have an awesome Walton collection. The SI brings added life to the collection. The '77 Topps captured the look I remember from his Trailblazers years. You did such a nice job with this. Bill Walton would be proud.
Hey Terry! Thanks so much for the comment and even putting it out for the announcement part of YT. I worked really hard on this one and was pretty happy with how it turned out. So thank you for the support! You’re so right about him and Bird. I love hearing those stories as well. He was with them a short time but like you said he loved being a Celtic. I have a couple other cards of his but couldn’t fit them in the shot. I think the rookie next to his 86 fleer show the youthful healthy Walton next to the pain ridden body he had 12 years later. Thanks again, Terry! Im really happy you liked it and thankful for the compliments. Hope you’re having a great week!
Really Nice Bill Walton quote of flow plus meaning equals performance. I remember hearing about him passing. Super sad. Man that UCLA team from the 60s and 70s i heard were something special. I knew some of the information about him but not a lot. Love the magazine and the cards. Enjoyed Andy!
Thanks, Steve. I love that quote as well. Give me 100 years and all the recourses and I could never pair those words together. Thanks for the kind words, and I’m glad you took something away from this one. Thanks for all the support, Steve!
Very nice tribute. He was one of my dad’s all time favorites. I was just a little too young to see him in his healthy years unfortunately. I certainly heard him countless times broadcasting games for his “conference of champions”. I heard the remaining Grateful Dead guys did a tribute which would be more than fitting. Those cards are awesome! Take care man
Thanks, David! That’s pretty awesome he was one of your dad’s favorites. He was hard to dislike. I’m not old enough to have watched him but man dod I love watching his games on espn classic. I heard the same about the Grateful Dead. Well deserved. Thanks again for watching and the comment. Hope you’re having a good week and doing well.
Howdy Andy ! What an impressive tribute to Bill. Such a well thought out and said Show. I always wondered how Luke Walton got his name. You really I'm impressed me with this episode, great writing D ! C ya !
Thanks, Tom! For a 7 minute show you’d be surprised how much time I put into this one. I was really proud how it came out. I had about three directions I wanted to take with it but pleased I decided on this one. Like I said in last week’s video, I just wasn’t ready to do it. Thanks for the compliments. I’m a little behind on watching videos but yours is first on my list when I can watch. Take care to you and Otis!
@Dcollection Hey Andy You really should be proud of this episode. It's easy to go to Wiki & glom some highlights & show a card. You crafted a great story. I have lots of time, so I go over my stories again & again until I'm satisfied. So I'm happy with my stories I put out, but I would like to be able to edit so as to have a clean read for every Show. I just can't seem to do it, I always stumble or misread at the wrong time. I say, as far as importance, story first, delivery 2nd, and presentation 3rd. If you have a good story with a decent read then you don't even need presentation. My case, I have a view to show, in your case a Cool collection of Walton stuff shown under fantastic lighting ! Talk to ya later ! C Ya !
Awesome Sauce Cards here! Thanks for sharing this Beauty of a Tribute to Bill Walton! Also awesome Sports Illustrated Magazine with him on there too!
Excellent tribute Andy 👏 👍 🙌 👌
Fantastic tribute to the late great Bill Walton and his career. Nice background.

I watch this just having just learned about Jerry West's passing. Basketball has lost absolute legends this year.
Excellent tribute Andy

I did not know much about him. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for taking the time to watch. You ever get him TTM? I heard he signed a little bit TTM a while ago.
Great tribute Andy! I definitely heard him call games over the years, but never heard this much of a backstory. Hearing all the stories and memories now he definitely seemed like a beacon of positivity and wise words. Well done my friend
