@dylry86 definitely agreed that Damien should take up a different mantle, the robin mantle never really fit him at all, the context in which he works as robin is either solo or with grayson batman, tim on the other hand I agree should keep being robin For a while, and if he ever takes up a different mantle (that isn't drake or red robin) it should probably be the question or blue beetle imo, either of those would fit him and bring out the different aspects of his character
I always love Tim drake robin he’s really awesome and badass and personally for me my favorite robin growing up and seeing Tim drake my Robin was freaking fantastic and amazing in my opinion.
Uh no. That’s a horrible idea. Finally you have a way to incorporate the bat family and what? You don’t want it because you don’t like a character? That’s just pure bias talking lmao.
Tim Drake was definitely the Robin who understood the responsibility of handling the mantle the most, and what his symbol meant. He treated it professionally and was a great hero because of it. It's such a shame DC barely acknowledges his presence now and seemingly has no clue what to do with him. (Also adding this quote here because I like it a lot and think it summaries my feelings better than I could). "Dick saw being Robin as a thrill. It's probably why he outgrew it. Jason saw being Robin as a game. It's probably what got him killed. But Tim...I have to hand it to the boy. He wants to be the world's greatest detective. And from what I've seen so far...he will be someday." -Batman
I really wish they would stop giving the Bo staff to dick and keep it with Tim. Sad how he was made into Jason Todd in the DCAU while young justice gave him little to do. We really need Tim Drake to be used more instead of forgotten
Dick was always my favorite Robin but after getting into Nightwing comics I much prefer him as Nightwing. My ideal DCU Batman would have been Bats with Dick as Nightwing, Jason dead for a few movies and Tim as a young Robin. Unfortunately James Gunn likes Damian Wayne so that will be our main boy wonder but at least we’ll get a pre established Bat Family
yea, assuming he’s gonna be around superman’s age (which i hope he is) i’m not sure how they’re gonna square the robin timeline tho. hopefully they don’t cut out tim to make that space for damian like the animated movie universe did.
@leeb5112 Well... Here's the thing: James Gunn states he likes Damian Wayne, and the movie will be called "The Brave & The Bold". He even states how he read the comic, and a surprise character will show up. Now, if The Brave & The Bold were anything remotely accurate, this might mean we won't get a DCU Bruce Wayne... At least one that is breathing.
@@cahe6161 Can you let me know what's the source? Because as of lately, there's been too many things that's been contradicting anything DCU and Batman related. All I know is: if they're making The Brave & The Bold Adaptation, and Bruce Wayne is definitely Batman in it with Damian's Robin, it'll basically be like Death of Superman, but instead of Doomsday killing Clark Kent's Superman, Doomsday kills Jonathan Kent Superboy.
This why I think Tim is the best, when he started as Robin he took the mantle to help Batman not to focus his pain, or channel his Trauma he did it to help. He took the mantle for the purest reason unlike in latter versions or the cartoon.
People on Twitter always debate about Tim saying the only thing he's ever contributed to Robin was pants. Or that his accomplishments pales in comparison to the others. They say he "NEEDS" to move on as if he can't let the identity of robin go & Is obsessed when he moved forward as "Red Robin". They constantly act like he needs to be anything else but robin when The mantle of Red Robin fits perfectly. I'm sick of people saying he should be "Cardinal" or "Grey ghost " He's The Red Robin. Plain and simple.
@@eliasmagus5086 Ppl say that like it's mandatory for Robin to be an identity you move on from when The identity itself isn't a down grade...And act like Tim is clinging to Robin when in reality it's writers regressing him back to a "side kick." Red Robin was an evolution from the identity that Tim adopted when Batman was gone effectively Growing into his own man under the name. He wasn't exactly Robin in that comic. He wasn't the boy wonder he was a Mature equal to Batman who no longer needed him. Damian being Robin was more effective with Dick as Batman but Tim still can retain that identity because it is essentially an amalgamation of Batman and Robin's identities into one form. Which matches his character to a T.
That’s my problem with Red Robin, it feels hard to grow past Robin when it is literally still part of the name. It always felt very one foot in, one foot out rather than an entirely new moniker to truly stand on his own. Having him stay as Red Robin is the most boring second-hand option. I'm sick and tired of people moaning on about Red Robin being the most viable option. It's lazy and absolutely ignorant to think he cannot find new ground with a new name and design. Red Robin worked as a stopgap at the time, it was clear he wasn’t a sidekick but he was still a Robin, because he never felt the need to breakaway from Bruce in that story. Problem is now, it is clear he 100% outgrew Robin, but he's still in denial about it, just like the stans. He could become so much more and he deserves so much better, but he chooses to limit himself because doesn't want to acknowledge he's been replaced as Robin. He needs to cope with that, just like the stans who don't like change. Ergo, new moniker. Plain and simple.
@@rhyswallace3590 As it stands now, Tim is stuck in a middle ground where it feels like he’s not allowed to progress, but the world around him is. Even that brat Damian feels like he’s developing a lot more than Tim, which shouldn’t be the case given how much longer Tim has existed. Again, Red Robin worked as a stopgap that was tied to a significant event (RoBW). But forcing that as his new identity is lazy. He needs to move on. He needs to break new ground. Something else entirely. He should definitely advance beyond being Robin, and I don't think Red Robin is the right moniker for him at all. He needs an identity that isn't about still being Robin, only with a different color. And while his Red Robin series was great, chances of Tim going back to how he was portrayed in that are slim. Right now Jason is occupying the edgy, morally gray and brooding ex-Robin niche. Damian is taking over the Lazarus / Al Ghul stories, and the plotline of finding an identity that is more than just his parents' son, and Dick is getting the "center of the DC, stepping up to lead" plot. That leaves Tim mostly with the detective stories niche, which is what his series from 2 years ago was trying to do. Emphasis on trying here. It failed spectacularly. He needs something better.
@@moshymosh It's not that he didn't wanna accept he was replaced as Robin in fact when he was Red Robin he said "Damian as Robin felt good" Red Robin is an evolution of the mantle into a more mature and Batman like mantle. He used it to defeat Ra's Al ghoul...It's The Peak of Robins potential and it fits him because he is the only one who can take the Robin mantle passed the point of side kick. Growing it into a more mature mantle... Plus it's an homage to his Time as Robin...He admires Both Batman and Robin and embodies the best of both identities. he doesn't have to be anything else because he did surpass Robin as Red Robin...the problem is Ppl don't understand the difference between the two identities and Regress Tim Drake's character development. I strongly agree. And recommend the entire Chuck Dixon run of ROBIN. Like he has done with NIGHTWING, Mr. Dixon worked his magic. Tim was at his best during the Dixon era.
Young Justice 98 made me have love and respect for the character. He was genuinely funny and interesting thanks to Peter David's writing. Side note Todd Nauck's art is so good.
The truth is that without Tim Drake there is no Batfamily today. If DC hadn’t modernised the idea of Robin, it would have died with Jason and Batman’s supporting cast would still just be Dick and Alfred.
Tim Drake is Adonis Creed from Creed, Ezra Bridger from Star Wars, Jerome from Halo, Watson in RDJ's Sherlock Holmes. He's that one guy who is just a rock of the group. Without him the very idea of a Batfamily would be an afterthought since Jason's death.
I like the Batman monologue. It’s relatable seeing some people younger than you and keeping you guessing how they are doing what they do. When they want to follow your lead regardless, you fear you’re not worth it
Out of all the Robins, I think Tim Drake earned the title of Robin the most since he had to undergo a lot of training and rejection from Bruce during a time when he was emotionally struggling and grieving from Jason's death, so you can imagine how much more belligerent and demanding he was to Tim after he willingly chose to be Robin. Tim acted as an emotional anchor so that Batman could heal again and find the empathy and compassion he had for others like his enemies, and that's one of the reasons why I believe Tim was the best Robin since he had both the natural detective skills and drive to be Robin while helping Bruce ground and maintain his humanity as Batman. Frankly, as much I love Damian's character and arc growing up in the comics and Im excited to see him in Brave and Bold, I do kinda wish that instead of Damian, they start the DCU Batman with Tim Drake as Robin. Since I fear that they might just skip over Tim's character since he's constantly getting s*** on by DC Comics and just straight up getting forgotten about since he's arguably the best person to have become Robin since he actually earned that title and role, and had natural detective skills to make him a great Robin and reopen Bruce's compassion for others even his villains after the Joker killed Jason and Batman became more brutal after being stricken with grief. Look, Im not saying they won't adapt Tim Drake; however, Im just concerned they may cut him out of the DCU since the movie already seems rather crowded with the Bat Family, and I fear they won't care enough to do something interesting with Tim Drake that shows why he's a vital member of the Bat-Family and what makes him different from the other Robin's
9:25 also a testament to Drake's smarts and detectiveness is the fact that Ra's al ghul also refers to him as detective because he can even see that one day Tim will be an even better detective than Batman and he is the utmost respect for him for that
All good and agreeable points here. I wanna add that on top of being the best overall detective and strategist of the core robins, Tim has the most well rounded skill set and achieved the best overall ability while in the robin role, referring the skill-set he developed before moving on to another mantle like Nightwing or Red Hood.
Tim was considered the bang-on future inheritor of the Batman mantle at one point. He was the closest to Bruce in every way, but was more capable of bringing humanity into his work without sacrificing his safety or intelligence. Dick is amazing, but when it came to personality, Tim was a better future fit to Batman. I'm glad I stopped reading when I was much younger, when Young Justice's first run was still going, because I can ignore most everything, including Damien.
Tim gets so abused bruh, he’s definitely underrated…he may not be my favorite bat family member (that’s dick , Cass, and Bruce) but AS a Robin, Tim is my favorite Robin 🔥
Tim's my favorite Robin, and arguably the point where each of the Bat Family started taking on one of Bruce's skills as a specialty, while Bruce himself is a jack of all trades/master of none by choice. For Tim it's Batman's detective skills. I also like his costume the best of any of them, and I didn't hate the first Red Robin outfit that kept many of those traits. I didn't hate the winged version but it wasn't as cool.
Dog as soon as I saw this vid on my feed I actually yelled. LET'S G O !!!!!! THANK YOU for putting respect on my mans name fr. The minute he was the one robin who pulled up to wayne manor, willingly signed up, knew the risks, AND did it to help Batman because he figured out he was stumbling, I knew he was a keeper. I LOVE a detective robin, someone batman can bounce off of while still being lighthearted and hopeful. The shining light but tactical powerhouse that Batman so desperately needed. Idk why people whine about him being boring when it's moreso he's the most Down to Earth. He's compassionate, understanding, and is honestly like the Spider-man of the robins if you ask me. He will ALWAYS be the best in my eyes. I'm so mad they've put him on the shelf in the newer era 😭!!
Tim Drake has always been my favorite Robin as a kid. I always felt he took the mantle most seriously out of all of them. So you can imagine how upset I am to see how they've treated him in recent years.
Honestly, I wish they treated him at all, all they do is sideline him and put his characteristics in other Robins while acting like he doesn't exist, it pieces me off, dude...
Tim Drake has always been my favourite, when I get old I plan to just live the rest of my days with my family and reading all of dc from superman #1 1939
Iirc (and I could be wrong), the creators of Teen Titans said they wanted their Robin to have some of Tim Drake's attributes as a leader too (which is why TT Robin's personality is significantly different from Dick Grayson's usual comic depictions)
Thank you for making this video. Post-Crisis Tim Drake holds such a special place in my heart even though I actually thoroughly started reading him recently. Though even before I really knew him, I thought he was cool. I remember I used to watch so many Batman videos and one of them was who's the best Robin by Variant Comics. And just by what he explained, I knew that he would be my favorite. Which makes me all the more sadden by how DC treats him nowadays. I only hope that the newest DCU gives Tim the much needed respect he deserves. Given how comics tend to follow movies for synergy to...iffy effects, a really good adaptation of Tim Drake would be perfect to push the comics in the right direction.
4:18 To be fair... Tim was a little bit of a stalker fanboy when he was introduced. I mean, he was spying on Starfire in her apartment and following two well-known vigilantes to their dangerous fights. It's a testament to how well-written he is that people love him despite that weird intro.
Tim Drake is the GOATED Robin, I love his version in Gotham Knights, like he has mad detective skills and was able to deduce Bruce's identity as Batman, like he is my man.
One thing you hinted to but left out was the fact that the idea of being Robin didn't originally occur to Tim. When he went on his mission to convince Dick to return to the mantle of Robin, ("A Lonely Place of Dying"), Dick took him to the bat cave then drove off as Nightwing. As Tim was yelling at Dick as he drove off, then crying that "Batman doesn't need Nighwing. He needs... Robin." As Tim sat there, broken, thinking his quest had completely failed, he was utterly shocked as Alfred told him, "I believe, Master Timothy, that is why he brought you here." (One of my favorite scenes of the character.)
Thank you! Everything said in this video is exactly what I’ve been saying for years. Tim is so underrated and severely underused now. My favorite Robin since Arkham city and BTAS. They did him so dirty in Arkham knight and suicide squad. Titans was fine but not nearly good as it could’ve been. Here’s hoping he’s in the DCU🤞

This just never suited Renee or i just wasn't sold on it if you get what I mean? Now Tim as the Question could be interesting. He is already a great detective so what would happen if he takes those skills further
Tim has always been my favorite. Even my favorite comic character with some of the best progression I have seen in comics. Also having some of my favorite relationships with other members of the Batfam and its so unique. When the New52 happened I fell to my knees in a Waffle House. I think giving him a new persona was the right move but the name "Drake" and the suit was horrendous choices. There has been some promise but he's still only the "smart one" when in the past he was much more than that.
I love my boi Tim Drake, he is hands down my favorite DC hero. I do get why he's not as often used by the other media- because he's hard to understand and fully realize in one sentence. Every other Robin has a single sentence description that makes them sound exciting: -Dick: leader/founder of Teen Titans and Nightwing, one of the greatest leaders in DC. -Jason: tragedy in bat family, villain, anti-hero, prodigal son -Damian: Son of Batman, child assassin learning empathy over years -Carrie Kelly: The one who supports Batman past his glory days -Stephanie: the one who failed Compared to them it's hard to describe what Tim is all about. He is a slow burn, but a well worth partner and hero of his own. His solo series is still amazing all those decades later.
Love this video, and I’m a big fan of your channel and I just gotta ask: was this video inspired by comic pop’s recent world finest video? Only reason I ask is because Sal goes on a tangent about how dc keeps taking things from Tim and diminishing his importance, kinda like your vid!

That should've been his default look but no, gotta put him back in the Robin suit again like he's still a trainee next to Damien.

Growing up in the 90s Tim was my definitive Robin, it's sad that DC doesn't know what to do with him anymore now that Damien took that spot
I so hope they do somthing with Tim soon in the new batman run, get him OUTA the robin mantle, or at least make Damien a different character so tim can keep being robin
@@kadegetslaid634it’s Damian who needs a new identity. Tim should be Robin for life like the Earth-Two Dick Grayson.
He had a decent thing going as Red Robin for a while.
@@dylry86 That's ignorant. Let characters develop. Tim deserves better. He outgrew Robin.

@@yanyanzhang5813 i mean, if the dcu will start at the 4 Robin why it could not start at the 3 one?

@@yanyanzhang5813 it's the same, u can just introduce him later 🤷🏼♂️
Maybe they'll have him lead the Titans or have a rivalry with Damian
@leeb5112
Well...
@@leeb5112I doubt it, since this is an established Batman to the point he already has Damian along with the rest of the Bat-Family.
@@baligong3592It's confirmed it will be Bruce Wayne Batman.
@@cahe6161
Can you let me know what's the source? Because as of lately, there's been too many things that's been contradicting anything DCU and Batman related.
All I know is: if they're making The Brave & The Bold Adaptation, and Bruce Wayne is definitely Batman in it with Damian's Robin, it'll basically be like Death of Superman, but instead of Doomsday killing Clark Kent's Superman, Doomsday kills Jonathan Kent Superboy.
I like that the concept of Tim being Robin is essentially that he is the one guy trying to protect Batman.
This why I think Tim is the best, when he started as Robin he took the mantle to help Batman not to focus his pain, or channel his Trauma he did it to help. He took the mantle for the purest reason unlike in latter versions or the cartoon.
Yall don't forget that my Tim Drake owns the title of The Ultimate Robin or at least that should be a title for Tim Drake.
If there's anybody who's gonna inherit the "World's Greatest Detective" title it's gonna be Tim Drake.
Why would it be bad for to move on he low-key a middle child since Damien came into the picture
They've been doing that since new 52. There's also several Characters with Bat in their name. After Batman and Batgirl.. none of them need a name change.

The Titans show did the same thing with everyone. It’s like they read the Wikipedia articles and thought they got the characters

I don't give a fuck what you say there's only one Robin that's big dick😂
100%agree,Tim Drake is the best Robin, hands down no question about it but DC has completely ruined him thses days🤦🏽♂️
9:25 also a testament to Drake's smarts and detectiveness is the fact that Ra's al ghul also refers to him as detective because he can even see that one day Tim will be an even better detective than Batman and he is the utmost respect for him for that
Basically Tim to Robin is as Wally to Flash
Before Tim was Robin I wouldnt say Batman was struggling with his rogues but he was acting brutal
Tim Drake and Walky West, Huntess, Power girl are casualties of the new 52. I will miss them
All good and agreeable points here.
Dick still the GOAT, and I love everything about Jason in Under the Red Hood, but Tim 100% deserves his flowers
Ngl I think someone saw your video about Batman Knightfall getting a animated movie because it’s finally happening. ( Tim Drake is the Goat )
Tim gets so abused bruh, he’s definitely underrated…he may not be my favorite bat family member (that’s dick , Cass, and Bruce) but AS a Robin, Tim is my favorite Robin 🔥
Dick Grayson is my favorite of the five ( though I 100 percent prefer him as Nightwing ), but Tim is underrated and the best Robin
I swear every single take you make I 100% agree with.
Tim is the definition of Robin imo
I'm so mad they've put him on the shelf in the newer era 😭!!
my boy Tim is gettng respect by you is the best thing ever.
Why is it that every superhero have to have a tragic backstory? Why can’t just seeing an injustice be done to somebody else be more than enough?
Tim Drake has always been my favorite Robin as a kid. I always felt he took the mantle most seriously out of all of them. So you can imagine how upset I am to see how they've treated him in recent years.
Honestly, I wish they treated him at all, all they do is sideline him and put his characteristics in other Robins while acting like he doesn't exist, it pieces me off, dude...
I swear Tim is like the punching bag of the batfamily these days
I didn't know that omg 😂 if dick or star found out he's dead
He needs... Robin." As Tim sat there, broken, thinking his quest had completely failed, he was utterly shocked as Alfred told him, "I believe, Master Timothy, that is why he brought you here."
(One of my favorite scenes of the character.)

“Quit booing me, I’m right?” 😂💀
I love my boi Tim Drake, he is hands down my favorite DC hero. I do get why he's not as often used by the other media- because he's hard to understand and fully realize in one sentence. Every other Robin has a single sentence description that makes them sound exciting:
-Dick: leader/founder of Teen Titans and Nightwing, one of the greatest leaders in DC.
-Jason: tragedy in bat family, villain, anti-hero, prodigal son
-Damian: Son of Batman, child assassin learning empathy over years
-Carrie Kelly: The one who supports Batman past his glory days
-Stephanie: the one who failed
Compared to them it's hard to describe what Tim is all about. He is a slow burn, but a well worth partner and hero of his own. His solo series is still amazing all those decades later.
