I guess dumb luck is good - picked one seed from a sago on a walk in the neighborhood. Didn't soak the seed nor remove seed membrane. Today I have a 13 year old sago that has flourished.
I have two dogs. Thank You so much for that information. One of my dogs ate pecans at our old house. We walked up to our "new house" and sure enough..there was a Sago Palm in the front. My dogs like to pick up anything they can. This is a great video btw. Thank You!
Thank you for sharing this about Sago palms. I did this a while back but forgot the details of preparing the seeds. I would like to see how to grow Magnolia’s from the little red seeds.
In March '20 I manually pollinated flower of my female palm with pollen collected from two male flowers.A few days ago I collected all the seeds because new leaves started to come from the middle. Of course I checked with water to see if it would sink?. Results 481 seeds good. 12 Not. This year I am not interested in using them. If anyone in Australia is interested I live in Sydney. Last time following the instruction of gentleman from this video I was 90% successful in growing
I don’t take the coating off or plant them. I take the seeds and scatter them. In nature what happens is they fall off the plant and land on top of the soil so I always try to replicate nature.
Hi, I have harvested seed from the sago palm and put them in water to remove the jacket. However I need to know how long the seedpod must be dried out before cracking it to plant the actual seed.
I have 3 sago palm seeds that I’ve had since last Dec. they now have sprouted a single straight shoot. Up until now I had them under plastic, but the sprout it touching the plastic. What should I do next with them
Lamberson Salvage he said in the video. One week. Some say only a day or two. Warm water. Wear gloves when you peel the membrane. Safer on skin as the seeds have carcinogens which are harmful to animals and your skin if you are susceptible and sensitive to such things, Easily irritated.
I have soaked my seeds for several days, tossing the floaters. With fertile seeds, I tried taking a brush to scratch off the red outer shell. No luck. I have taken a knife to cut of the red outer shell. That worked somewhat, the inner seed appears to be hard and dry in character, not a tender looking vibrant seed. Is that normal? Do some seeds require the knife? Suggestions on how to proceed. Should I just toss this batch and wait for the next seed production? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
thanks for mentioning the dog poisoning possibility. I just got some seeds today and also have dogs. In fact, I don't know where I left the seeds... going to look right now. Those boys are pesky trouble-makers. Is the plant poisonous to animals, or just the seeds?

jose par fleur de chine
The female flower from which you have these seeds must be pollinated with a pollen from a male flower. If it is not there, nothing will grow out.
Quick question: is there any way to save these seeds? Could you soak and peel the membrane then allow the seed to dry out and save for later use?
Do you soak the seed for a week or immediately remove the floating ones? All of mine are floating😬

Is it safe to use the already peeled membrane for a fertilizer or is it too poisonus?
Anyone let me know because i am growing one😃
I got a bunch of seeds but not the size you have. Is it because their to you young to cut and I need to leave them longer? Please let me know.
Does anyone know why my sago seeds are so orange?
That is normal. They range from red-yellow
Actually you don't have to peel the seads.
Luv how everyone’s giving these out as gifts, people admire them for sure! Yet they’re poisonous 🥴🤣
The volume was so LOW😕
Sago palms grow more than 2 inches a year
