I’m a friend of Peter’s and worked with him on a movie towards the end of his life. Thank you for this. It is hands down the best Type O Negative cover I’ve ever heard. Peter would have went crazy for this version.
This cover is incredible. I've been a Type O Negative fan for about 14 years and Anesthesia is my favorite song of theirs. A friend stumbled on it while listening to their discography on random, didn't look up the name, and we spent about 2 weeks trying to find it again. After we found it and I heard it, the song just blew me away. I was living in a house with some friends, and I left Anesthesia playing on repeat in my room for 2 weeks straight. It was amazing. I was lucky enough to see Type O Negative in Atlanta during their final tour. To my surprise (because I thought it was a lesser known song), they did play Anesthesia, and it will forever be burned into my memory. Thank you for this cover. It was an absolute gem.

@@billsmith7642 My first intro to them wasn't by way of song. My mom had gone to a Queensryche concert and I asked her to bring me back a bandanna....for some reason I was into bandannas at the time. She brought me back a Type O Negative bandanna. She said "this is the band that opened for Queensryche, this is the only bandanna I found....they were awful." I wore it and loved the bandanna, but lost it over the years. I didn't really get into them until about 2007. The friends I was renting the house with, and I, had fallen into a pattern of getting ripped and watching random On Demand music videos/concerts, or whatever Comcast had. Another friend had come over one day, we got hammered and my friend found that Symphony for the Devil was on On Demand. We turned it on, and my mind was blown. Friend left in the middle of it, I sat there and watched the whole thing and was mesmerized (partially from being faded, but also having found the perfect music to go with the situation). That amazing, foggy afternoon changed my life forever.
@@Lebrawlski Amen brother.....I believe that Type O would be looked at, beyond their current fanbase, in a similar vein to Sabbath, Zeppelin, Queen, even bands like Alice in Chains, nirvana etc., as far as recognition on a more commercial level, if their sound was immediately as accessible....They are so unique, almost to a fault, where people at large tend to skip past them in terms of seeking out new music....not unlike certain, more "niche" goth-ish groups from the 80s like Sisters of Mercy, Psychedelic Furs.....or hell, even a group like Devo....if you take away "Whip It" they too would have gone fairly undetected by the mainstream, despite being an incredible, innovative band....Imo, Type O were like a mix of Pink Floyd, the Cure, the Beatles, Sabbath, and even a little bit Ramones....a very eclectic mix of influences, which made for a sound that while amazing, and adored by its fans, as well as respect from many different groups/musicians, was also very complex, which is a quality that tends to be a turn off for the casual listener.....I can think of only a few outliers like that, who completely broke through to mainstream recognition, Tool, and System of a Down being a couple examples.....Of course none of this really matters, as we, "the chosen few" ala Profit of Doom, still get to enjoy the greatness that was Type O, regardless

Peter Steele was a genius song writer that could convey emotion and a story clearly. That said, this song is over the top. Amazing and this beautiful performance is one of the best ever.

Definately the best song Peter wrote in the 2000's. Great, great work of this song. I rarely like these TON covers. And I like the touch of rolling R's there, proper!

No way to prepare, impending despair
Did one say so cruel: "'Tis better to love than lose"
Ignorance is bliss - wish not knew your kiss
So many times been burned, this lesson goes unlearned
Remember desire only fuels the fire - liar
Betwixed birth and death, every breath regret
I pity the living, envy for the dead
Emotionally stunned, in defense, I'm numb
I'd rather not care than to be aware - be scared
I don't need love
Are a thousand tears worth a single smile?
When you give an inch, will they take a mile?
Longing for the past but dreading the future
If not being used, well then you're a user and a loser
World reknowned failure at both death and life
Given nothingness, purgatory blight
To run and hide, a cowardly procedure
Options exhausted, except for anesthesia - anesthesia
I don't feel anything.
I feel something but not what would be kin to happiness myself. Beautiful

Peter Steele was a genius song writer that could convey emotion and a story clearly. That said, this song is over the top. Amazing and this beautiful performance is one of the best ever.
Thank you. Agreed, Anesthesia is one of the best songs ever written...
Shame on me for just now stumbling upon this.
My absolute favorite song, and you brought even a new depth of beauty to it that Mr. Steele would be proud of.
Wuaahhhhhhhhhh. This is pure perfection

I'm so sorry for your loss. You have an army at your back you can't see. Anything you need. If you can't run, walk, if you can't walk, crawl, if you can't crawl, look up, and we'll carry you.
Tearing up as she starts to sing. This is phenomenal!
🖤
I'm going through a dark moment in my life and Type O Negative is helping me cope with that. Your version is exactly what I needed to listen. Thank you so, so much. Truly.

Definately the best song Peter wrote in the 2000's. Great, great work of this song. I rarely like these TON covers. And I like the touch of rolling R's there, proper!

Wow. I don't know what to say. I am touched. Thank you!
Came back to this video again. Anesthesia is one of my favorite songs, not just by Type O, but in general. This rendition is the best. Is there anyway you could more off that album? Maybe I don’t want to be me?
Peter would love this.
Please do more Type O Negative songs! lol Love it! One of my Favorite bands! You have Nailed it!

I am ever grateful the music has brought us here. I was very heavy hearted with the loss of Peter and the end of a great band. Still, I try to keep the spirit alive with the albums we have to appreciate the music. Then this new wonderful voice comes along from oceans away that rekindles and ignites the passion for the music with her tribute. I think for generations musicians have made their place in music by covers along with their own music. Thank you for sharing your talent, spirit and soul. Music is medicine for the soul.
Thank you so so much Mark!!
I totally agree. An unbelievable talent. This cover made me bust out my old clothes player and start listening to all the albums again. God what an undeniable talent.

I've been listening to this some more today and it's really got my mind whirling creatively with all sorts of visuals.
I'd love to get an insight on what it was like for you to make all these renditions - from one Type O Negative fan to another. It must be such a joy.
@@Age2003 What was it like? It was a dream come true. Some of it was like an out of this world experience. Recording Anesthesia saved me from myself in many ways. I was depressed and empty.
