Okay, I NEVER comment on anything, but you saved my poor little life with this video! I dropped my camera on accident and the display popped off but the camera still powers on. Of course the screen didn't with because it wasn't connected, but the tape was still in great condition. I did exactly what you did in the video and it's brand new!!! Thank you so much
Thanks for doing this. Actually there are two more cables back there that you did not reseat. The cable under the first one you removed is the contact for the actual touch screen. It looked and felt seated but I removed it. Put a little spit on it and reseated it. That was the final trick. Also, you didn't mention it, but you showed me a little trick to open the latch on each cable, different for each cable, but that was key too Thanks

PSA: DO NOT! Use contact cleaner on the connectors. It will get on the LCD screen and ruin it. Sadly I had to learn the hard way. Instead use pressurized air.
Hi there, I have a Sony DCR HC-26E That has this same problem, I've tried everything in the video, But the touchscreen still doesn't work. The rest of the display works perfectly fine. I've opened it up and disconnected and reconnected all the ribbon cables, but the problem is still there. Any ideas of what to do?
I found your instructional vid on this issue, but I have a HDR-UX7, the flip screen has a different configuration with the screws to open up the panel and unable to do the fix. Great video- very helpful. Do you have an easy fix for Canon cameras that have a lens error and the lens will no longer retract? I have two canon s100 that the lens will not retract. I have been told I have to replace the whole lens assembly. I am thinking there is probably a ribbon wire that is defective somewhere. I would love to see you do a video on the lens not retracting on Canon s100.

DO NOT use hot glue on the connectors! If you ever have to replace that cable or it has to be reseated, it’ll be a NIGHTMARE to try and fix again. Other than that good video lol

Thank you! I have the same camera and the same fault. I'll try to do the same. You can also wipe the contacts with a pencil eraser. This is done in laptops to improve the contact of RAM. Спасибо! Thanks. I have a Sony FDR AXP55 that is giving a E95.01 error and the touch screen is also not working, so I cannot reset it from the menu. It was working, and all I did, was carry it home to my house, and then I started to get these errors. It will still record, but I've lost all functionality. I haven't been able to find a reset hole to reset it.
what's the screwdriver you used i just cant find one that works on my camera and its the same camera you have and I don't wanna try too hard with my screwdrivers that I have because y'know don't wanna strip the screw so if you could drop a link to your screwdriver that would be cool
After I watched your video I ventured to dismantle the flip screen on my Canon Mvx2i Camcorder. I had to force the screen and the back panel apart once I had removed the screws. When doing so, I untied a ribbon_ the thinner and longer one_ and don't see where it fits back though it bears a tiny hole at its loose end. I wonder if you could help. Thanks in advance.

Very good video. Followed the steps but my viewer is still not playing ball. There is a lose connection on the swivel joint. I have just uploaded a video. Perhaps you could take a look. It would be a shame to throw it away. It’s an old one HDR SR10!!!

плакать надо шлейф рвётся хоть бы заказать и камера была полностью исправна если не исправна то плакать и выкидывать хоть что-то неработаепт то всё плохо
I cannot speak for anyone else, but I learned something a long time ago. Overkill is always sufficient in load-bearing applications, but not when working on delicate electronics. Sticking to the task and performing the minimum number of procedures is often the best thing to do. That connection was probably a result of the ribbon not being inserted properly at the time of the camera's original assembly. Dust can damage electronics. It's best removed with a can of dry air, but I didn't see any dust. A bottle of 70% alcohol is 30% water. If a solvent is required, electronic component cleaner is a better option than anything with water in it. The contacts on the ribbon and the clamps are gold (Au, #79.) Residue left from a liquid cleaner is not going to improve the electrical connection.
@@SteveWhiteDallas Always use 91% isopropyl alcohol on electronics. It evaporates cleanly with no residue. Always clean your contacts if you have taken the connections apart, delicately of course.
I have dcr sr32 and it's bricked, no power no charge light, nothing, I plugged the charger in the camera or using the dock but nothing happens, what is the problem??
I don’t know how to disconnect the little last ribbon that is under the big one. You filmed it last. How do I disconnect it? I don't see the latch there, but I'm just afraid to pull.

I had an issue with a button that effected the zoom.

My flat cables weren’t even loose…

It's normally a connection issue so look for lose wire and reseat connections.

The big clamps easily come undone but I can’t get the smaller cables out and don’t want to over force it. Any tips?

Since it was all apart why didn't you clean the cable and connections with alcohol on a q-tip.

Be sure cable isn't damaged and connected properly. Maybe electronic spray might help for button and connectors.
