I totally agree with you about the more conservative dresses. I wore a long sleeved midi dress on an evening out. I was self conscious at first because I thought I probably should be dressing like the other girls out. I felt like I stood out in the crowd and I was right because a guy came up to me said I was the best dressed in the place 😂
I totally agree with you on how gorgeous Kate Middleton always looks. She's killed it on wearing classy and elegant clothes, dresses down when it calls for it, but those dresses and dress coats are amazing!
When I lived in Florida, I invested in linen suits and “safari” looking outfits. I would recommend looking for sleeveless structured tops, as well. Boat shoes, loafers and very well-made leather sandals are my recommendation for footwear 💋

Winter is the best time to look classy. Classy clothes typically cover more skin so I’d say it’s harder to dress classy in warmer areas like where I live in California. When it’s hot and all you ever want to do is take your clothes off
Truuu. Winter is literally the time when it's the easiest to look classy and timeless. In summer its way too hot to wear anything cute and using some short and thin clothes is the only way to go if you want to stay comfortable. Take a look at Saint-Petersburg winter outfits for example and compare it to California. Way more classy and chic.

It's still perfectly possible to look chic and classy even in the hottest climates. Wear lighter (and natural) materials like linen, silk, and cotton. You are obviously not going to be wearing turtlenecks, but get pretty round-necked or boat-necked tops and dresses in a decent length (knee-length is perfect, but so is mid-calf or maxi, depending on the item), and you'll be fine.

I call myself a feminist, but that doesn't mean I can't dress and be a classy lady while working and providing for myself. You are a style inpiration for me to be honest. I was a dance student so I wore sweatpants and big sweaters almost every day in high scool, so maybe I'm compensating for my lack of fashion interest during those years haha. I live in Poland and I find this video very useful! So many women start to dress so boring during winter season... I already invested in like 10 turtle necks - timeless pieces! Over knee boots look great even Flat (no heels) and look great with pants - I think it makes ur legs look longer and slimmer and it’s a great outfit for busy days with lots of walking around. I live in Canada where it's really REALLY cold in winter. Even with a taxi, you can't get over a snowbank in nice boots without ruining them. My best winter trick when going out is to bring shoes and leave my boots at the coat check. That and own beautiful thermal layers in merino wool in neutral colors like ivory. I can layer them with cashmere, look luxe, and still be incredibly comfortable.

@@aashibliss2164 Oh, and no one tells newcomers about the salt. The streets and sidewalks are salted to keep ice from building up in winter. This is TERRIBLE for leather boots. 😕 They get salt stained. Your best bet are waterproof boots that are insulated and made of a material other than leather. And no Uggs!

The “old money” families I know spend most of their time in wellies, jeans and Barbours and are too concerned with keeping the family estate running to bother about clothes too much ... except that their jumpers are inevitably cashmere or Brora and quite expensive. They drive cheap old cars but wear Omegas or Patek Philippe ... and, of course, the furniture is all inherited.
I remember the time we went up Zugspitze without sunglasses. Guess who had migraine from the blinding snow. Thankfully they do think about ppl like me up there and I was able to get sunglasses. Phew

If you want to look like you come from old money, you just can't have pierced ears. So refreshing to see a video on dressing for winter from someone who actually experiences winter! Yes - winter is snow and ice and temperatures of -25C and colder! Yes - it means walking on icy and slushy sidewalks! And yes, it means dressing in lavish layers to stay warm and cozy! I had the most beautiful and refreshing walk to the train this morning wearing layers of navy with leopard and plaid accessories. There was snow on the ground and stars in the sky and it felt so good to breath the crisp, clean morning air. We are so blessed to have the full spectrum of seasons and the varied wardrobes to match. Layering in monochrome is very fashionable this year. An advantage is that it makes us look taller. But it can be boring, so be sure and add interest by incorporating lots of different textures if you're going to dress in one color.

@@contessanyc4572 A lot of women are not fortunate enough to have mothers who know any better themselves, and are thus unable to impart this sort of wisdom. I myself was quite lucky in this regard, to have had a mother who was both an artist and who knew all of this and much more, and to have both of us been born into the "right" circles in which it was well-known, so I grew up steeped in it, but not everyone is so blessed. Channels and blogs and books like Anna's can be real godsends for those who did *not* learn this stuff growing up or later.

Most of the time I wear dresses and skirts sewn by myself with a sewing machine, under my coat I wear cardigans or suitable pullover. Often I wear a scarf, and something on my head, it is between cap and heat it is from wool. The material is Jersey, therry, knitwear and dresses from Viscose, It suits me. I love delicately flowerprints and I wear these prints often. I combinate monochrom colours with prints.
It gets to -20F where I currently live. My tricks for clothes in getting from parking lot to building or just walking the dog or window shopping without becoming an icicle is : 1st layer aka -base layer: undershirt, thick tights or leggings , 2nd layer light long sleeves ie a button down blouse or nice cotton tops, bottoms in: a warm skirt - pleated, knee length, calf length or ankle length, dark denim or trousers , then a good heavy sweater then top it all off with a great over coat . Ski coat for the outdoorsy, cashmere for the lux look and puffer for a street look anything mid thigh to knee always look better than hip level coats. Accessories yes please !! my mom likes leather gloves to keep her hands warm, I have large hands for a woman so I made myself some nice wool ones. A good quality scarf and hat elevates your look 100% ! and a handkerchief instead of disposable tissues for drippy nose.

Lol! But that's only if I'm traveling for many hours. If it's a short flight, then I'll *try* to look a little decent.

I walk alot too. the trick to pulling off some of the elegant looksis wear clothing in natural fibers like wool , base layers and more layers I usually layer up to 3 on my top and 2 on bottom ^_^ . I usually look in between a ski bunny and a glam hiker in winter because -20F is no fun! .

Looking classy in winter is super easy and natural for me. That is why I prefer winter. I myself feel comfy and fashion is amazing. Yet, summer is horrible, I never feel neat, tidy, and classy enough during summertime as the clothes tend to be super summerish and everything is kind of relaxed and more casual during summertime. the show What Not to Wear is a good resource for styling tips but you have to find the colors that work for you. to many women over 50 wear shorts and skirts at mid calf and make themselves at 5'4" look even shorter and frumpy. just below the knee cap or were the top of knee is is good for older curvy women to not cut up the leg, a belted natural waist can be flattering , full length skirts with fullness like a swing skirt can hide a belly - mid rise jeans to. Ive a stretched out stomach from 2 kids this is how I hide mine! staying active and doing pilattes helps women slim their waists. My mom is 60 and rides her horse and bicycles along with keto and shes lost weight!

Unfortunately, I live in Minnesota in the USA. The winter weather here is not conducive for fashion when we have -20+ temperatures. I also enjoy turtlenecks IF they aren’t too tight around the neck. I sometimes opt for mock turtlenecks because they tend to be not as constricting. If it’s super cold, I wear plush lined tights with high boots and boot cuffs. Regrettably, I am allergic to cashmere so I choose Merino wool socks to wear under my boots. Sometimes wearing a lovely fashionable hat isn’t an option if it is windy out because obviously it will get blown away! Sometimes, I use a warm, circle scarf and use it to cover my head and face, if the weather isn’t nice enough to wear a fashionable hat. I also wear a camisole underneath my tops to keep me warmer in very cold weather. Also, if you must walk, I wear an extra knit glove underneath my normal gloves because with windchill, it can freeze your fingers because most elegant gloves are not made to be warm enough for the below zero temperatures. This is especially true if you suffer from Raynaud’s syndrome like me. Also, it is difficult to find a winter coat that closes well enough to keep warm in those deep freeze conditions. A nice knit scarf works very well if it is longer and neatly wrapped around your neck to add warmth under your coat without adding too much bulk. I use plush lined tights underneath my dress or dress pants for additional warmth. I doubt frostbite is fashionable, so I do my best to look elegant without compromising on warmth. Do the best you can when you’re in a cold, winter climate like mine. Hope you find this helpful! 😀

Winter is the best time to look classy. Classy clothes typically cover more skin so I’d say it’s harder to dress classy in warmer areas like where I live in California. When it’s hot and all you ever want to do is take your clothes off
Truuu. Winter is literally the time when it's the easiest to look classy and timeless. In summer its way too hot to wear anything cute and using some short and thin clothes is the only way to go if you want to stay comfortable. Take a look at Saint-Petersburg winter outfits for example and compare it to California. Way more classy and chic.

Winter is my very favorite season to dress for by far.
It's still perfectly possible to look chic and classy even in the hottest climates. Wear lighter (and natural) materials like linen, silk, and cotton. You are obviously not going to be wearing turtlenecks, but get pretty round-necked or boat-necked tops and dresses in a decent length (knee-length is perfect, but so is mid-calf or maxi, depending on the item), and you'll be fine.
Same here! In Australia it’s literally summer right now. That makes everything confusing, including winter-themed Christmas decorations. But that’s probably for another video 😂

Scarves are my go to for making my winter coats look nice. Even an inexpensive coat is elevated when adding a scarf. Great tips and advice.

I live in Poland and I find this video very useful! So many women start to dress so boring during winter season... I already invested in like 10 turtle necks - timeless pieces! Over knee boots look great even Flat (no heels) and look great with pants - I think it makes ur legs look longer and slimmer and it’s a great outfit for busy days with lots of walking around. Thanks for inspiration!
I live in Canada where it's really REALLY cold in winter. Even with a taxi, you can't get over a snowbank in nice boots without ruining them. My best winter trick when going out is to bring shoes and leave my boots at the coat check. That and own beautiful thermal layers in merino wool in neutral colors like ivory. I can layer them with cashmere, look luxe, and still be incredibly comfortable.

@@aashibliss2164 Oh, and no one tells newcomers about the salt. The streets and sidewalks are salted to keep ice from building up in winter. This is TERRIBLE for leather boots. 😕 They get salt stained. Your best bet are waterproof boots that are insulated and made of a material other than leather. And no Uggs!

The “old money” families I know spend most of their time in wellies, jeans and Barbours and are too concerned with keeping the family estate running to bother about clothes too much ... except that their jumpers are inevitably cashmere or Brora and quite expensive. They drive cheap old cars but wear Omegas or Patek Philippe ... and, of course, the furniture is all inherited.
And they care more that you can run a household than whether you wear ripped jeans.

If you want to look like you come from old money, you just can't have pierced ears. Nothing wrong with other people having them if that is their style and the look they want to project, but it doesn't go with the kind of look this channel is giving advice on.

So refreshing to see a video on dressing for winter from someone who actually experiences winter! Yes - winter is snow and ice and temperatures of -25C and colder! Yes - it means walking on icy and slushy sidewalks! And yes, it means dressing in lavish layers to stay warm and cozy! I had the most beautiful and refreshing walk to the train this morning wearing layers of navy with leopard and plaid accessories. There was snow on the ground and stars in the sky and it felt so good to breath the crisp, clean morning air. We are so blessed to have the full spectrum of seasons and the varied wardrobes to match. Love from Canada :)

I like winter for makeup, in the summer it’s so hot and humid my makeup melts off so I have to wear very little. In the winter I can have more dramatic and creative looks.
I do too because my sunkissed skin naturally looks good. Even being a dark skinned, black woman, I still get quite pale in very cold weather.

Layering in monochrome is very fashionable this year. An advantage is that it makes us look taller. But it can be boring, so be sure and add interest by incorporating lots of different textures if you're going to dress in one color.

Shape wear helps you keep warm as well. Also, layering good materials really is key. I grew up, and live, in the north of Sweden and those two things are a great tip to keeping warm.
Rain is even more difficult than winter. The hardest thing is rain coat and rain boots, plus hair getting wrecked. it's almost impossible to find good things. I wonder if you would do a video with your thoughts on this. Love!

I myself was quite lucky in this regard, to have had a mother who was both an artist and who knew all of this and much more, and to have both of us been born into the "right" circles in which it was well-known, so I grew up steeped in it, but not everyone is so blessed. Channels and blogs and books like Anna's can be real godsends for those who did *not* learn this stuff growing up or later.

Most of the time I wear dresses and skirts sewn by myself with a sewing machine, under my coat I wear cardigans or suitable pullover. Often I wear a scarf, and something on my head, it is between cap and heat it is from wool. The material is Jersey, therry, knitwear and dresses from Viscose, It suits me. I love delicately flowerprints and I wear these prints often. I combinate monochrom colours with prints.

It gets to -20F where I currently live. My tricks for clothes in getting from parking lot to building or just walking the dog or window shopping without becoming an icicle is : 1st layer aka -base layer: undershirt, thick tights or leggings , 2nd layer light long sleeves ie a button down blouse or nice cotton tops, bottoms in: a warm skirt - pleated, knee length, calf length or ankle length, dark denim or trousers , then a good heavy sweater then top it all off with a great over coat . Ski coat for the outdoorsy, cashmere for the lux look and puffer for a street look anything mid thigh to knee always look better than hip level coats. Accessories yes please !! my mom likes leather gloves to keep her hands warm, I have large hands for a woman so I made myself some nice wool ones. A good quality scarf and hat elevates your look 100% ! and a handkerchief instead of disposable tissues for drippy nose.

Looking like a backpacker when I travel would be a level up for me! Haha! I typically look like a bum because I want to be as comfortable as possible - so I wear old sweats, tshirt, and have my scarf in my carry on so I can tie up my hair as soon as I sit on the plane! Lol! But that's only if I'm traveling for many hours. If it's a short flight, then I'll *try* to look a little decent.

I appreciate your beauty and class, but I don't live in a high class environment, and I don't anticipate ever doing so.I do walk a lot and take buses, which keeps me looking much younger.I agree about the coats.I think I have good taste, so I very rarely look cheap or tacky, even if my clothes are from the thrift shop.If you are creative and stylish, you can look good with very little.I'm happy that I don't feel like I have to prove to anyone how affluent I am.

I walk alot too. the trick to pulling off some of the elegant looksis wear clothing in natural fibers like wool , base layers and more layers I usually layer up to 3 on my top and 2 on bottom ^_^ . I usually look in between a ski bunny and a glam hiker in winter because -20F is no fun! .

Looking classy in winter is super easy and natural for me. That is why I prefer winter. I myself feel comfy and fashion is amazing. Yet, summer is horrible, I never feel neat, tidy, and classy enough during summertime as the clothes tend to be super summerish and everything is kind of relaxed and more casual during summertime. Thank you for this video, tho. It brushed up on some existing knowledge i had and that is cool!

What about styling for women 0ver 65 years old and with a bit more weight around the middle? If there is already a video out for that please lead me to it.
the show What Not to Wear is a good resource for styling tips but you have to find the colors that work for you. to many women over 50 wear shorts and skirts at mid calf and make themselves at 5'4" look even shorter and frumpy. just below the knee cap or were the top of knee is is good for older curvy women to not cut up the leg, a belted natural waist can be flattering , full length skirts with fullness like a swing skirt can hide a belly - mid rise jeans to. Ive a stretched out stomach from 2 kids this is how I hide mine! staying active and doing pilattes helps women slim their waists. My mom is 60 and rides her horse and bicycles along with keto and shes lost weight!

I tend to be more of a warm weather person (and I’m fortunate enough to live in a mild climate) but what I love about the cold months is the ability to cover up! I don’t always like having a lot of skin showing- more so because I’m very fair skinned and my veins show easily (like spider veins on my legs 😞) and I can’t stand it when people tell me I “need a tan”. 🙄 “Uhh, thank you, but... no thank you.” lol!)

Unfortunately, I live in Minnesota in the USA. The winter weather here is not conducive for fashion when we have -20+ temperatures. I also enjoy turtlenecks IF they aren’t too tight around the neck. I sometimes opt for mock turtlenecks because they tend to be not as constricting. If it’s super cold, I wear plush lined tights with high boots and boot cuffs. Regrettably, I am allergic to cashmere so I choose Merino wool socks to wear under my boots. Sometimes wearing a lovely fashionable hat isn’t an option if it is windy out because obviously it will get blown away! Sometimes, I use a warm, circle scarf and use it to cover my head and face, if the weather isn’t nice enough to wear a fashionable hat. I also wear a camisole underneath my tops to keep me warmer in very cold weather. Also, if you must walk, I wear an extra knit glove underneath my normal gloves because with windchill, it can freeze your fingers because most elegant gloves are not made to be warm enough for the below zero temperatures. This is especially true if you suffer from Raynaud’s syndrome like me. Also, it is difficult to find a winter coat that closes well enough to keep warm in those deep freeze conditions. A nice knit scarf works very well if it is longer and neatly wrapped around your neck to add warmth under your coat without adding too much bulk. I use plush lined tights underneath my dress or dress pants for additional warmth. I doubt frostbite is fashionable, so I do my best to look elegant without compromising on warmth. Do the best you can when you’re in a cold, winter climate like mine. Hope you find this helpful! 😀
