Hi Curt, Glad it will help, by the way, I recut this video and removed the breaking glass transitions to help clarify the repair, it's the same video just easier to follow it's on my channel, so watch that one. Last week I had a large bird smash into the other mirror at highway speeds, lot of damage to the mirror but I manage to repair and save the price of a new mirror, I'll have a new video in a couple of days with lots more detail. Thanks for watching and commenting, it's much appreciated. P.s. I post updates, previews, and other random stuff on Instagram #southernengineering
I just replaced the passenger side on mine after watching this video. It was extremely helpful. As you said in the video when taking it off and the plastic starts cracking you get a little nervous. I had to take out my courtesy light to put the housing back on after plugging in the replacement turn signal. it was easy because it just pops in from the outside. Thanks for a great tutorial. I have a feeling I will be replacing these again.
Thanks for the vid. I have a 2017 F-350 Larait and found mirror assembly's are close if not identical. Someone had a wooden pole sticking out of a trash can just at the right angle and it nailed the light and broke it. A buddy of mine manages parts at a local ford dealer and he got me the part next day and printed out fords instructions on how to replace. It was 5 pages of garbage. You video helped me change in about 15 minutes. Thanks again
Just did this myself. Thank you for the video. You see where you struggled at 11:20? Mine would not go back together without taking the puddle light out. I took the puddle light out, leaving the wire for it sticking out of the hole, then plugged it in and snapped it into place once the housing was back together. Thanks again. Excellent video.
Thanks for the how-to. Came in handy in my efforts.... Couple of points... Once you get a few of the clips off the glass, plug it back in and move the glass a bit. I found when i did that, the clips just came right off.. Secondly, whatever you do, DO NOT lose or damage the puddle light. I was quoted over $160 to buy that part.... :( It is truly criminal.

Thanks, it's my first official RUclips video. I went to Ford for the fix and was shocked what they wanted to fix it. How do you like the Platinum? Was it worth the difference in price?
It's my 2nd Platinum. I love the truck, I'm a gadget head, so all the bells and whistles are nice. and my wife who is 14" shorter than I am loves the retractable running boards. One thing I did was to add an powered bed cover from Retrax. A push of the button and it opens and closes, and locks into any position you stop it in. It makes it much easier to back an empty boat trailer down a steep ramp when you can get the entire bed cover out of the way and see the trailer out of the rear window (with the tailgate down, of course).

@@SouthernEngineering I smacked a mail box with mine and broke the front casing along with the light. I wonder if anyone makes the outer plastic pieces? Mine has a camera and it is a $1k I dont want to spend.
Ouch! I don't understand why Ford would not make the shell piece available. Two weeks ago I had a large bird smash into my passenger-side mirror, I was going 80ish and he hit it head-on. Broke the top and bottom mirrors, the clearance, spot, turn light Asm. the chrome top cap, cracked the shell and popped out the puddle light. All the replacement parts were available but the shell for the modest price of $520ish. I managed to repair the shell and made it look like new, I videoed the process but was not sure if I wanted to post one, if your interested in how it was done I can edit a video and post it.
@@SouthernEngineering That would be a cool video. Likely applicable to many other plastic part fixes! I guess I will have to bite the bullet for a new mirror. But my glass, puddle light and camera are all good. Seems like a waste. DNA motoring makes a complete powered mirror assy for under 300 bucks. Might be able to modify it to work. I hate paying full price!
I'm with you, frugal with my $. I checked out the Amazon mirrors, they look like a close match, wondering out-loud, you may be able to purchase a basic mirror and swap the from shell? Since it's way too hot to work in the yard today I'll work on that video, with any luck I'll have it ready for tomorrow.

You should be able to buy the chrome covers from Ford or maybe Amazon. Good luck and let me know.
Thanks for watching and commenting, I do appreciate it.
I hope you consider following me, as I get my shop updated I will be working on Truck, Jeeps and other stuff, plus my video skills are improving.
P.s. I post Updates, Previews, and other random stuff on Instagram @ southernengineering
Boasts about his $50k truck but can't afford a maintenance manual and goes at his side mirror with a screw driver hoping not to break it. Great entertainment.
The mirrors are $1000
Hi QB, I was not clear, The dealer told me $1400 Installed, but I believe they are around $1k, still a pricy component. I re-edited the original video and removed the breaking glass transitions to improve clarity. Thanks for watching and commenting.P.s. I post updates, previews, and other random stuff on Instagram #southernengineering
Friggin broken glass transition so irritating!...smfh🫣😑
A
I gotta do this too. This helps a lot. Thanks
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching.
P.s. I re-edited the video to correct the transitions, it has a little more detail and a lot of transitions corrected.
