Just been researching to find my first laser and I was blown away by the Uking for the price as I wanted something cheap, powerful and fun which is a hard combo to find in the budget market. Thanks to your video I have just bought the Uking :)
@@awooga772 it only has 8 animations, i just got it.... yes it has lots of beams / circles ... but for an animation laser to have 8 different animations is pretty poor imo!
Thanks for the clear and concise video explaining the differences and showing the DMX function on these. Many of the reviews negate to mention how DMX works. I'm using the U'King with Soundswitch in 34 channel mode and it has so many options. Amazing for the price.
I have both. They are great fun and very effective for the price. I use the uking as an aerial scanner and the 6 beam more on the dance floor to split them apart! I've not had much luck using them with the Soundswitch software just yet though.
I agree that both are pretty amazing for how inexpensive they are. The 6 beam has limited options but can really fills a room with its beams. Appreciate the comment and you watching!
Wow! Really really really appreciate your videos. They’ve been indispensable! Thank you! I was kind of forced into the DMX world this year because I got a fog machine that I really wanted, but whose only method of control is via DMX. So since I’m needing to get into DMX, I want to take my little yard haunt a few steps up this year. Are there any patterns on these lasers that are related to Halloween, or that could be made to look a little eerie by perhaps changing the colors to just greens and purples for example? I’m thinking of either using a laser or projector to project a Halloween image such as a ghost or bat ETC on to fog across the yard, some distance away from people. I’m just trying to decide if a 3d animation laser or a projector would be a better option. I haven’t seen anything specific on your channel about projectors so I thought I would ask. anyway, thanks again for such great videos and any ideas or suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!
Thanks for those kind words and yes there are a few basic things you have control over in a budget laser such as changing colors and basic shapes. To have more control over laser images you need to spend a lot more money and get something like this (which is an awesome laser!) www.laseros.com/r/LearnLizard/ You could also consider a dedicated low cost holiday projector such as this: amzn.to/3ebjH7U Video projectors are an entirely different animal. I love them but be prepared to do a lot of work and experimenting to get the look you want. Appreciate you watching!
@LearnLizard Thanks for this video! I love your channel! Very helpful for budget beginners to make better choices. I hope U'king and other light vendors considering sponsoring you if they haven't already to demo their products!

You have some very basic control of the included patterns (like color, speed, etc.) but you can't really go in and create your own custom patterns, For that you need something like a LaserCube.
Thanks for letting me know about the old link. Here's one that's almost the same, only with a few added features (like a remote) for $76: amzn.to/3Uu27LX
Its not compatible with LaserOS or any other software directly as there is no computer interface. The Amazon ad says "Compatible ILDA laser show software with ILDA interface" but I don't know how that is supposed to work with only DMX in and out.
@@LearnLizard Ahh ok. Thankyou for clarification. I was kind of wondering that. I am not familiar with any laser standards very much, I am still just learning basics. But anything I assume I am just pulling from my backside lol. I will probably just have to grunt down and get one.
Hi, have you discovered something about that? I'm looking for a laser projector that shows custom patterns generated by a PC or a microprocessor (like arduino or Raspberry PI) in real time.
cool i think i will get them both....thanx for the video......the real question is how far do they project while maintaining a good strong beam before the beam fades out, would you use them for a 50 meter long hall? or they only good for a bedroom use? thats what i like to know
Hi- that's a good question. Although the beams on both of these are bright in smaller venues (bars, small clubs) they can't project strong images over long halls. For that I would recommend the 2.5W LaserCube. ruclips.net/video/IxiSlRIIz58/видео.html It is considerably more powerful although quite a bit more expensive.
Yes and yes. You can daisy chain as many units together as you want using the DMX in and out jacks. (Remember to set them to different DMX starting addresses to control them independently) And DMX Channel 19 controls parameters for "Out of Bounds" and "Pattern Size" for safety. Thanks for watching!
@@LearnLizard sent it on the uking because of this video. I’m honestly satisfied with the automatic sound active mode, so don’t necessarily need a dmx controller at the moment. Thanks again for your videos. Do you feel this is pretty safe to use in your home (just for fun with the family)? I have a lot to learn about lasers and safety, and have been watching many videos on safety. We were thinking about using this in the basement on the wall, just for fun. Lasers have always intrigued me throughout the years. I remember going to huge outdoor laser shows in our city - animated images set to music. I also enjoy the use of lasers at Disney World's EPCOT. It is always impressive. I just thought it would be fun to have a little unit to have fun with, but I want to make sure this would be safe. Thanks again for your videos.
Thanks for the kind words! These lasers are relatively low power as show lasers go but more powerful than simple laser pointers and even those can cause eye damage if you look directly into them. @@LearnLizard i have a DJ gig at the end of this month i was curious with the more expensive laser, must i use a haze or fog machine? the lights at the venue will be dimmed, could that be enough to get the same effect?
Both units are pretty quiet - definitely more quiet than my mini moving heads (those things have loud fans) Neither have SD card slots. (there must be something that looks like one) however the Amazon ad for the animation laser said it was IDLA Compatible with IDLA Interface and I never saw any way to be able to connect. (U'King has removed that from the ad now) Appreciate you watching!
What laser class are these lasers? Aren't they dangerous, considering they probably output more than 1mW (more like 500mW) of laser light. Can you connect an emergency off switch as required by law in the US?
That's a great question. I found this chart that classifies the different classes of lasers and their dangers: www.laserpointersafety.com/laserclasses.html These lasers are less than a watt so I believe they are considered Class 2 which can be sold in the US without an interrupt switch. The chart says a "Safe for unintentional exposure less than 1/4 second. Do not stare into beam." Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this great video as well as all your other videos about lighting, it has truly helped tremendously ! Is the U'king able to create other animations ? I'd like to create other animations specially during the holiday season and being able to create Santa Claus as well as other holiday favorites would be ideal for work .
Appreciate your kind words. The U'King can only produce the animations it comes programmed with. To create custom animations you need a Laser with an ILDA port connected to a computer. Wicked Lasers LaserCubes are also good for custom patterns and come with free easy to use software.
It should look pretty good when the fog is at the right density. (hazers are better at creating the right effect for most lasers) Here's a video that will give you an idea of how it will look: ruclips.net/video/nxc_ZuiaMSU/видео.html
Hey! I was wondering the specifications for the Uking. Is it really 20Watts as advertised? And wouldn't that make it a class 4 laser? I'm not exactly sure and I'm still learning all the ins and outs of laser stuff. I can imagine it being closer to 1 watt or something but if I were to do a show in public i'd like to know if i need a license or not for the FDA.
It's hard to get accurate and reliable info on the output level of certain lasers such as this one. I can tell you with certainty that it is way less than 20 watts. Although it's pretty bright for the price, my 1.2W LaserCube is still brighter.
Great video but I bought the Uking 3D and can't figure out how to program it. The A and E functions currently have nothing on them. How do I program those? Thanks
These are for setting the DMX starting address. "A" is for 34 Channel Mode. Set the starting address using the up and down buttons, then press Enter to save. "E" is for 6 Channel Mode, setting the starting address in the same way. (you only need these if you are controlling the Laser with a DMX controller) Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I seen this light on Amazon I liked it because it had lot cool different effects I seen Winnie The pooh ect does it have all those effect? Or just the ones in this video
The U'King definitely has a Winnie the Pooh animation (I wonder if they licensed it from Disney haha) It also has 7 others (Dolphin, Ostrich, Flower, Leaves, Flying Hearts, Dancing Girl, Scarf Girl) Appreciate you watching!
Good question. It seems that a lot of the Chinese made lasers are very similar in their build quality and the way they are programmed. I'm not sure but I'm guessing that many come out of the same factory and are just branded differently. (for example the animations on the Alien laser are virtually identical to the U' King.)
Unfortunately no- You are limited to the animations that come preprogrammed into the machine. You have a huge amount of control over the beam effects and can program simple shapes but not complex animations. Appreciate you watching...
Hi,love your videos,I had left a comment on the Vibrio app video,I am struggling to connect to it? Done everything right, the up address is correct from the router just that it says connected unknown device,is there any update that I should know off since that video is almost a year ago,any other iPad app u suggest? Using the DMXking convertor👍🏼 plz reply will really appreciate.
If the Connection Status box says "Connected to unknown network" try going into your iPad's settings and make sure under WIFI you are connected to the router you set up. You should then see the name that you gave to the router in the Connection Status box. Vibrio is still working fine for me (version 2.3.7) under IOS 14.6. There are quite a few other apps out there- Photon was just updated to version 2 and has a lot of nice features so its one to take a look at.
Can anyone link me to The Uking laser or a reproduction product so i can buy it , it seams its no longer on amazon , it seams cheaper than the lasers i have and better quality
Awesome video! Very helpful. Have you seen the CHAUVET DJ Scorpion Dual? Would be curious to get your feedback on that. Also, what would you recommend for a basement of the 2 your reviewed? I'm not as much about the patterns on the wall as I am about the overall impact of the light beams and diversity of them. Also will be in auto sound active mode.
Hi and thanks for the kind words! The Scorpion Dual looks pretty cool in the demo videos and Chauvet is a quality brand but for that money, I would personally look at options that had more than a single color. The 6 lens laser has really good looking beams (you need haze or smoke to see them) but the variety of patterns is limited especially if you are using it as your only laser in your show. For the most options I'd go with the U'King.
Do you have videos on programming the 512 in this video I'm new to DMX so it's all learning for me at the moment iv watched a few vids on the 512 but my bottom configuration seem to be a little different instead of just pressing program I'm having to press program/Tapsync-Disply together can you shed any light on this for me, many thanks
Sure- But to get the best effect, it helps if the surface is dull (rather than shiny or reflective) so a cloth drop cloth would look better than a plastic one. Good luck and hope that helps.
@@jasonevans6338 You can’t actually get to the lenses or mirrors easily on these lasers but alcohol on a cue tip always has worked for me in similar situations
Hi I’ve already bought a “U`King DJ Disco Party Lights RGB LED Stage Lighting Beam Light Illumination 3D Patterns with DMX512 Sound Activated Remote Control for Festival Bar Nightclub Wedding Live Show Church” The thing is that I will like to know if i can do my own petterns in one of those 3d laser lights. There is not much information about it. What I really need to do is draw a green carpet with red edges and some decorations in the floor of my events room, can I do it on the 34 DMX channels? I haven’t tried on the fixture due tonight haven’t received Thank you in advance!!!
Hi- Although the U'King animation Laser has an amazing amount of control over its patterns on the 34 DMX channels, its not designed to be able to create specific graphics (like a green carpet) To create custom graphics you need a more sophisticated (and unfortunately much more expensive) laser such as a Lasercube like this: www.laseros.com/r/LearnLizard/ Thank you for watching!
Thinking about getting one of those you uking 3DS for my garage club.. got one of these mr Christmas ones a few years ago for 75% off at Kmart and it came to about 25 bucks and you could use it outdoors that's what this one reminds me of but it was only green well I tripped over the cord and it dropped and I broke it and trashed it... But it had all these pre-programmed song and light shows sequences that this reminds me of
I think I know the kind of holiday lights you are talking about. This U'King laser is a BIG step up. I think you would be very happy (but careful with the cord!!)
It's actually both lasers going side-by-side at the end (11:30) but the one that is making the bright and defined beams is the 6 Beam. It really looks amazing with the hazer going.
Hi, i just got the uKING laser... does it have only those few (about 6) animations? The pictures showed all different ones, but i only have a few (dolphin / flower / winning the pooh and two dancers)... i am only using the remote control. Will there be more animations if i used DMX?
Hi- It has 8 animations total. (the ones that you mentioned plus flying hearts, leaves, and ostrich) I'm pretty sure you can access them all from the remote control.
imma buy this one soon, has alot that im looking for for a cheap price. for me it will cost 200 euro's total but as i can see its the best option out there
Which one are you thinking of buying? They are both pretty cool but the more I have used them, the more I realize how different they are. If you can afford the U'King, I don't think you will have any regrets.
A lot of China manufacturers don't emphasize model numbers on their products. Searching for "U'King Animation Laser" will usually bring this model up. Appreciate you watching!

It did not come with any SD card. The original Amazon ad made it sound like it came with an ILDA interface and the manual showed the connector on the back in a picture, but the laser didn't have it. If you look at the Amazon ad now there is no mention of it. It was OK with me but misleading if you needed that functionality (and I'm glad they removed it from the ad.) Appreciate you watching...
Many thanks for the video. Despite the few patterns on the 6 beam, I like it more. The RGBW laser is fine, but I didn't like much the animations and the patterns it has, I would like to see how the patterns looks like on the sky instead of a wall to see if it matches with Pink Floyd music style.
I know what you mean about the animation patterns, however I think the beam effects are really pretty good on that little laser. (especially for the price) You can't point a laser into the sky in the US because of safety concerns and unless there is fog in the air, you won't see the beams or patterns unless they are hitting something. If you have the budget (and a good hazer) you can get some good Pink Floyd light show type effects with a laser like this: ruclips.net/video/IxiSlRIIz58/видео.html Thanks for watching!
Hey just wondering if you’d be willing to sell any of these entry level lasers, im curious if you use these that you purchase or just buy them for the reviews. If I could contact you by email somewhere as well that’d be great!👍 Love the videos!!
I went on a shopping spree and bought the uking and some cheap $20-30 dj party laser lights which are powered by usb. How dangerous are these (uking and $30 lights) for living room parties? Don't want anybody to go blind. The uking seems kind of scary and for professional use....
Even the lowest power lasers can cause damage to the retina if you look directly into the beam for long enough. When you are setting up your party be aware of where the beams are pointed (above people's heads) and make sure they are not aimed at reflective surfaces like mirrors and you should be OK with smaller, consumer grade lasers.
It's always hard to accurately show what a laser really looks like on a video. The 6 Beam actually looks pretty cool for how inexpensive it is. Appreciate you watching,,,
None of these small remotes seem to work very well. You have to be in front of the unit and very close. Much better to control with DMX or have in auto or sound active mode.
Don’t waste your money on the u king. It’s total trash unless you’re only using auto mode, don’t fall for the DMx feature. It doesn’t work wel with sound switch or any other program. Junk light

@@LearnLizard nice! I just ordered t yesterday should be coming in tomorrow I’m excited! Looks really cool. Is it way better in fog?
@@carlogarcia209 I think lasers always look better with fog!
How does the U'King compare to similar animation lasers by Alien or others?
Good question. It seems that a lot of the Chinese made lasers are very similar in their build quality and the way they are programmed. I'm not sure but I'm guessing that many come out of the same factory and are just branded differently. (for example the animations on the Alien laser are virtually identical to the U' King.)
is there a way to make a custom animation and link it to the Uking?
Would love to get the model number @learnLizard
Here's the link on Amazon- they are in stock now: amzn.to/3gqSlcw
@@LearnLizard ah must be because im in canada ! Thanks !
For the most options I'd go with the U'King.
the U`King Animation anit really that good my work place has got one and its so dull its not that bright the patterns colors are so faded
It's normal that the u king 3d animation laser Case becomes hot?
I've never noticed mine getting too hot (just a little warm) but I've also never run mine continuously for a long time.
Hi- Not sure what you mean by the "512". Do you mean the 6 Beam? If you can send me the model # I might be able to figure it out. Thanks for watching!
I want to learn but no convinced.
U’king unit is no longer available. Any suggestions on a replacement? I would like graphic animation
There still on ebay

What a cool video. You should look at the camera, its going to look better. Thanks for a great job, very very helpful!!!!!
Thanks for those words of encouragement and I appreciate the advice. In my latest video I am looking straight at the camera :)
Isn't there a software to add and create patterns for the u'king?
I'm not aware of any software (or hardware) that will interface with this unit. If you run across any info on that I'd love to know about it.
Software is the other version, but the same price, you can check this link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08YNH9T84
Can i use a drop cloth for a laser backdrop
Sure- But to get the best effect, it helps if the surface is dull (rather than shiny or reflective) so a cloth drop cloth would look better than a plastic one. Good luck and hope that helps.
@@LearnLizard Thanks for your help
How do you clean the laser lenses and what kind of cleaning solution
@@jasonevans6338 You can’t actually get to the lenses or mirrors easily on these lasers but alcohol on a cue tip always has worked for me in similar situations
Can you upload or otherwise add new image effects for the u'king?
No- unfortunately you are limited to the basic animations it comes with. Thanks for watching.
Hi
I’ve already bought a
“U`King DJ Disco Party Lights RGB LED Stage Lighting Beam Light Illumination 3D Patterns with DMX512 Sound Activated Remote Control for Festival Bar Nightclub Wedding Live Show Church”
The thing is that I will like to know if i can do my own petterns in one of those 3d laser lights.
There is not much information about it.
What I really need to do is draw a green carpet with red edges and some decorations in the floor of my events room, can I do it on the 34 DMX channels?
I haven’t tried on the fixture due tonight haven’t received
Thank you in advance!!!
Hi- Although the U'King animation Laser has an amazing amount of control over its patterns on the 34 DMX channels, its not designed to be able to create specific graphics (like a green carpet)
To create custom graphics you need a more sophisticated (and unfortunately much more expensive) laser such as a Lasercube like this: www.laseros.com/r/LearnLizard/
Thank you for watching!
What laser is it at 11.30 onwards please?
It's actually both lasers going side-by-side at the end (11:30) but the one that is making the bright and defined beams is the 6 Beam. It really looks amazing with the hazer going.
Do you have links for the u king laser?
Just put it in the description- thanks for reminding me!!
@@LearnLizard no problem
Just got 9 eye 👁 uking but no animations just lines n dots ..
Yeah, the ones with the "eyes" project the beams through lenses that create the effects. Simpler and less expensive than animation lasers.
Well, the U-king was 135 dollars and the other?
You can find 6 Lens lasers on eBay for under $80 if you search.

Which one are you thinking of buying? They are both pretty cool but the more I have used them, the more I realize how different they are. If you can afford the U'King, I don't think you will have any regrets.
@@LearnLizard The Uking 3d animation laser
Anyone know what the model of the uking is?
A lot of China manufacturers don't emphasize model numbers on their products. Searching for "U'King Animation Laser" will usually bring this model up. Appreciate you watching!
@@LearnLizard only one I've found is in taiwan I'm a bit hesitant to buy something from the other side of the world lol, do you know of any western alternatives in a similair price bracket? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction
I threw a few shot videos on my channel. It's just on sound activation 😔
I just watched some of your videos- VERY cool!! How are you getting that "smoky" effect in the background behind the lasers? Is it a projector?
@@LearnLizard oh brother you motivated me. Thank you. I don't really know what exactly 512 controller is needed for. It was a blessing how I got 1x 900w 30min shot, 2x 400 fog machines. 2x U king RBG 3d projectors, a proht projector and Yamamha Natural sound av receiver rx- A3020. I found a working Polk audio 10" subwoofer. And a few speakers for hi's and mids. Funny thing big bro, no body in family care about 😭it. I was hoping to learn how to dj was kid. Every party I go to I make it in to one. (Everytime !!!)
But, Hey thank you for your response. ❤️
@@LearnLizard yes sir, and I cast my phone to it using Chrome cast device.
Did your U king laser come with the Ilda SD card advertise on the Amazon description? And if so do you have a video showing how to program your own designs? Thanks for the video.
If you have the budget (and a good hazer) you can get some good Pink Floyd light show type effects with a laser like this:

Hey just wondering if you’d be willing to sell any of these entry level lasers, im curious if you use these that you purchase or just buy them for the reviews. If I could contact you by email somewhere as well that’d be great!👍
Love the videos!!
Love it

I went on a shopping spree and bought the uking and some cheap $20-30 dj party laser lights which are powered by usb. How dangerous are these (uking and $30 lights) for living room parties? Don't want anybody to go blind. The uking seems kind of scary and for professional use....
Even the lowest power lasers can cause damage to the retina if you look directly into the beam for long enough. When you are setting up your party be aware of where the beams are pointed (above people's heads) and make sure they are not aimed at reflective surfaces like mirrors and you should be OK with smaller, consumer grade lasers.
Ummmmmmmmm, hello? We're over here to your right please......😂
Haha- at first I couldn't figure out what you meant.....
Does this one have Winnie the Pooh in in? I seen the Amazon video and he’s in it 😂
Yep- it's got Winnie the Pooh!
Not sure why... but I do not like any of those... the effects look strange.
It's always hard to accurately show what a laser really looks like on a video. The 6 Beam actually looks pretty cool for how inexpensive it is. Appreciate you watching,,,
This guy looks like he’s been staring at the sun for too long or is tweaking out lol
I've been staring at lasers too long ☹️
Also the remote on the animation laser from u king is garbage, mine didn’t work at all out of the box. Just sent it back, waste of my time
6:09 doesn’t work. Must’ve been made by a five year old Chinese kid in a sweat shop while being whipped by the boss.
Junk light
Mine worked fine with the DMX controller, but yeah, probably not the best option if you are using SoundSwitch.
Esas luses no sirven en lugares grandes no las recomiendo x qe yo las tube
Gracias por el comentario, y sí, estos son más adecuados para escenarios más pequeños o fiestas en casa que para grandes conciertos o lugares.
