I like the way how Buddhist teachings always focuses on the fact that everyone is connected

      That was a good one!
how Rinpoche said we should first reflect on how we have received so much (everything we have) from others to counteract the trap of thinking we are the only one giving.

I find it a lot easier to feel compassion for others when you think about "what would it be like if I stood in their shoes" and also, what has this person done to me?
well, they are a certain way I disagree with. but I do not know anything else.
So, perhaps I shouldn't hate someone for one "flaw" perhaps they have many other things I do agree with.
This tends to be true, I do find a lot of agreeable things in others.

Very Valid point I deeply respect someone who have true compassion and empathy for both good or evil people than someone who they only have empathy for people they like or they find people who they deem as good so called.

@@jeffforsythe9514 Though I appreciate the sentiment, I wholeheartedly disagree with the statement that true compassion only arises through suffering. If that was the case then suffering (confusion, greed and hatred) would be the antidote to suffering which isn’t true and not what the Buddha taught at all.
Nowhere in the Way of the Bodhisattva does it say that suffering is needed for bodhicitta to arise for example too.
Compassion comes through wisdom and insight. Understanding Dukkha is part of that but it doesn’t mean we ‘should’ suffer or ‘need’ to as implied in your statement for true compassion to arise.
      Thank you 🙏

something i struggle with, if we take the example of drinking a cup of tea, is that the individuals who picked the tea leaves etc didn't do it out of compassion for me but out of a need to earn a living and therefore out of compassion for themselves.

    • @arunanarayan7591
      @arunanarayan7591 2 месяца назад

Their motive should not matter. For whatever reason, they are helping us to enjoy that cup of tea for e.g. and for that alone, they are worthy of a thank you at the minimum
      That is a start
One can also take an example of a soldier who fights on the war front. What are their motives? And does that matter when they are protecting our borders at the cost of their life

is there any other word one can use instead of mother ?

compassion arises spontaneously.compassion and suffering are mutually arising . there's no development of compassion. development points to subject object. there is no other. there's also nobody being compassionate/suffering. there is just compassion / suffering. oh yea, there are also no secrets and no method. remain in the holy place. HA HA LOL

this solves nothing to those in the midst of agony, to those that are lost in misery due to symbolic and abstract thinking. to those looking for the true answer: you cultivate compassion just as you cultivate suffering, with intent. although the difference is based upon your level of conscious awareness. Become more aware and become more compassionate. A conscious being who does not embrace their awareness will cultivate endless suffering.
