Endy's catch is still the greatest catch I've ever seen.
I remember watching this live. That catch Made me fall in love with baseball forever.
Without a doubt the greatest ever
Still can't believe that we lost that game.
Its not just the catch, but that they were able to turn it into an inning-ending double-play
When Endy made that catch, I thought we would win.
Game 7 nlcs is the only sporting event I ever shed a tear.
Shea Stadium always looked so beautiful in postseason day games. It just glowed
even the old Yankees stadium had the same effect
Even better, when it was a huge game? The place literally *shook*.
Looked even better when the apple got some sun ☀️ 🍎
I was in upper reserved for Endy’s catch! One in a lifetime!
I still can’t get over Beltran taking that 3rd strike
He's a compiler, but never does anything when it matters. He's the Andre Johnson of baseball.
@@eldiesel4593 I highly disagree that Beltran doesnt do anything when it matters.
He had the Mets only RBI in game 1 against the Cards when he hit the home run, and he showed up in game 4 with a couple of home runs. And he was sensational down the stretch in 2007 and 2008 when the Mets starters and bullpen just flat-out collapsed in September both seasons.
I can still remember how Beltran hit a game tying two run home run in game 162 against the Marlins in 2008 in the final game ever played at Shea
And Beltran was the favorite by miles to win the NLCS MVP if the Mets won game 7, ESPECIALLY if he had tie the game in the 9th inning or win it in the 9th.
But many Mets fans (including myself) sometimes cant get over the fact that he was horrible in 2005 and took strike 3 in game 7 with the bases loaded.
@@hmhm856 They missed the playoffs in 2008.
Had he swung and struck out you would clown him for that. Beltran was an absolute monster in 2006 and the main reason the mets even got as far as they did. That situation with wainwright wouldn't even had happened if Pedro and El Duque were healthy.
They should of won that game man... They had all the momentum after his catch.
Holy fucking shit, I remember watching all these games. I was a little kid back then, but I still remember vividly it was these games that made me grow an eternal hatred for the Cardinals.
Go Mets 2022!
So many heartbreaking moments in this postseason:
1- Letting game 2 against the Cards get away, especially when the Mets offense was rocking that game against the Cards ace Carpenter. Guillermo Mota, Billy Wagner, and So Taguchi.
2- Getting SPANKED in game 3 by Suppan. Suppan is a big game pitcher, but I did not think the Mets offense was getting shut-out by him. Although I cant lie, I did not like the Mets chances with Steve Trachsel (whom I like as a pitcher but he was at the end of his career in 2006).
3- Tom Glavine not being able to hold on to the two run lead in game 5. Funny how many Mets fans dont remember Glavine letting this game get away.
4- Nightmare game 7, especially the 9th inning. Jose Valentin striking out with a runner on third and only one out, Aaron Heillman throwing a breaking up that stayed in the middle of the plate to Molina, and then the Mets loading the bases only to come up empty
So close man. 2006 and 2015 both had the potential to be winning seasons. When we finally get one again it’s gonna be heaven on earth lol
Only way to top Endy's catch is to do the exact same thing, only with 2 outs in the bottom half of extra innings of game 7 of the WS, with a 3 run lead and the bases loaded.
I didn't even celebrate right away after he caught it. I was in shock for a minute cuz I thought the ball was gone as soon as it was hit. He was always one of my favorite players, I wish he stayed and ended his career as a met.
Beltran's strikeout in game 7 should be number 1 lol
You should be banned
Still unbelievable that Delgado only got 3.8% of the HoF vote.
I think his political stance has something to do with him not being in the hall of fame.. He never stood for the national anthem..
@@Jaymets09 Bingo , he has the numbers
@@Jaymets09 I highly doubt its because of his political stance due to a war that the vast majority of people hate that it happened. I think its because he only played for one postseason team in the wild card era.
These guys were my superheroes as a kid. Larger than life characters in a game that I lived and breathed. I remember pretending to be John Maine in the backyard trying to throw the ball straight enough to hit a tree. (Sad childhood I know lol)
This was the first year that I watched, and that last game ran so long that I had fallen asleep. My dad gently woke me up to let me know that they had lost. My superstition still makes me wonder what would’ve happened if I stayed up lol.
What a team, what a time :)
Carlos Delgado and Cliff Floyd had two of my favorite swings
Game 7 was my 27th birthday. Got a lot of drinks bought for me after that one
Let say that was not a good birthday gift after they lost 😞 to me it when been better if they won. I was still 5 at the time
I turned 27 that same year lol ... October 6th.. I think that was the day the Mets clinched the nlds but I'm not sure
Remember when Carlos Beltran struck out looking to lose game 7. Then you hired him as your manager. Then you fired him before he coached a game. I have two words for you. POVERTY FRANCHISE 😂😂
To be fair, I actually wanted Beltran as the manager, since Beltran is very baseball-bright. But that scandal I guess was too much of a distraction
Lack of good pitching is what killed that team. I mean Oliver Perez was pitching game 7 lol. They should have won it all. It still hurts.
Cliff Floyd has a beautiful swing
Endy Chaves is immortal in Mets history for that play alone
He truly became a fan favorite because of that play. He went from being just a bench player / defensive replacement / pinch runner, and became a Mets player that can do no wrong in Mets fans eyes
If you Mets fans thought the Chavez catch was awesome, imagine how it looked from the point of view of Tigers fans such as myself. Yeah, most of Detroit was rooting for the Mets in the 2006 NLCS.
Truly one of the greatest (and unfortunately, underrated) catches in post-season history: If you guys had won that game, it would be right up there with Willie Mays in 1954 and Kent Hrbek in 1991.
Mets win that game and Chavez has a hit in the 9th and you're right but even if Beltran hits that curve, Endy still would have had the play of the year and possibly top 10 ever. As a Mets fan I'm biased and believe if you look at it in context and not with the end result in mind and thats a hard play to top!
To think that 2006 was the only time that the Mets made the postseason under the Minaya era (2005-2010)
Still makes me angry this team didn’t go all the way
When Endy Chavez went up into the air, I really thought that it doesnt get any better than this....And I was right....it didnt
Joe Buck still managed to somehow make the greatest postseason catch in history sound somewhat boring. It was only the crowd noise that saved it
He's truly the worst.
Hola que bonito y preciosos recuerdos vamos mex
1:17 Gary Throne forgot Shawn Green was now in RF for the Mets not LA
I think many Mets fans want to forget that Shawn Greene ever played two seasons with the Mets. Many Mets fans still feel like Shawn Greene should have caught that liner in game 2 that Guillermo Mota allowed late in the game. And Shawn Greene with the Mets wasnt the same Shawn Greene he was with the Dodgers and Toronto
Pain
Screw this. I don’t want old moments. Get everybody back to the negotiating table and get the game us fans love back on track. This is the biggest middle finger to the fans I’ve ever seen. Disgusted.
Shea Stadium was historic asf
It pains me to say this but I was in line to get Dippin Dots during Endy Chavez's catch. I heard a loud roar but had no idea what was going on.
I agree with everything here but they should have played Gary Cohen call on the Endy catch!!
Aaaaannnndddd HE MADE THE CATCH!!
The difference in the play by play between Buck and anyone else is stark. If you’re that tired, just take a nap Joe.
kanye with an amazing hit!
IF ONLY THE METS WOULD HAVE WON THAT GAME 7 with that crazy catch by Chavez dang it lol
I would have given the MVP to Endy if they had won.
Where's the video of Carlos Beltran striking out with bases loaded against Adam wainwright?... 😅😭⚾🤷🏾♂️
Endy Chávez, venezolano q jugaba con el corazón
Best team to not win it, at least offensively
1999 Mets offense as well
Delgado looking like Kanye in the thumbnail
Everybody forgets Suppan’s home run
aHH YES, im sure an opposing pitcher hitting a home run is one of the top Mets moments in the 2006 postseason. Im sure thats something that this Mets youtube channel will want to share with the Mets fans.
It sucks having Joe Buck announce the game when your team is playing the Cardinals.
Best Moment was them losing to a 83 win team
Why do you guys do this to me!!!?? I remember being depressed when I was a kid because of cardinals!! 😢😢
Wait, wait ... where's the Wainwright curveball that froze Beltran?!
Carlos delgado looks like kanye west 😂
Damn this team was loaded.. why be did we win some WS's?
Simple, the Mets are a cursed franchise
You somehow forgot Wainwright K-ing Beltran????
thought i was seeing baseball kanye in the thumbnail
SWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!
Didnt even go to the world series😂
So close... uggghh
Let's go Cardinals! That series was iconic just for the famous Yadi/Wainwright hug alone after future Cardinal Beltran struck out.
0:59 lol thought It was Kanye West lol
This was a great NLCS ... who won?
St. Louis Cardinals
The Mets should’ve won this year
The best highlight that included the Mets from the 2006 postseason was Beltran watching a curveball for strike 3 to send the Cards to the World Series 😉
Got nothing current to show? Oh wait...
Fire ManFraud
lmfao joe buck sucks so much as a national announcer calling a game with the cardinals involved. such an obvious homer. clearly sounds annoyed by the mets hitting home runs.
Never really hated Joe Buck until I watched this video, coming from a yankee fan
🤣😂🤣
Joe Buck is so boring 😭😭
Joe buck is so boring . No emotion in the home run calls
Because its against his cardinals
