      @@eldiesel4593 I highly disagree that Beltran doesnt do anything when it matters.
      He had the Mets only RBI in game 1 against the Cards when he hit the home run, and he showed up in game 4 with a couple of home runs. And he was sensational down the stretch in 2007 and 2008 when the Mets starters and bullpen just flat-out collapsed in September both seasons.
      I can still remember how Beltran hit a game tying two run home run in game 162 against the Marlins in 2008 in the final game ever played at Shea
      And Beltran was the favorite by miles to win the NLCS MVP if the Mets won game 7, ESPECIALLY if he had tie the game in the 9th inning or win it in the 9th.
      But many Mets fans (including myself) sometimes cant get over the fact that he was horrible in 2005 and took strike 3 in game 7 with the bases loaded.

      Had he swung and struck out you would clown him for that. Beltran was an absolute monster in 2006 and the main reason the mets even got as far as they did. That situation with wainwright wouldn't even had happened if Pedro and El Duque were healthy.

  • @hmhm856
    @hmhm856 2 года назад +10

    So many heartbreaking moments in this postseason:
    1- Letting game 2 against the Cards get away, especially when the Mets offense was rocking that game against the Cards ace Carpenter. Guillermo Mota, Billy Wagner, and So Taguchi.
    2- Getting SPANKED in game 3 by Suppan. Suppan is a big game pitcher, but I did not think the Mets offense was getting shut-out by him. Although I cant lie, I did not like the Mets chances with Steve Trachsel (whom I like as a pitcher but he was at the end of his career in 2006).
    3- Tom Glavine not being able to hold on to the two run lead in game 5. Funny how many Mets fans dont remember Glavine letting this game get away.
    4- Nightmare game 7, especially the 9th inning. Jose Valentin striking out with a runner on third and only one out, Aaron Heillman throwing a breaking up that stayed in the middle of the plate to Molina, and then the Mets loading the bases only to come up empty

    • @Conbools

    Only way to top Endy's catch is to do the exact same thing, only with 2 outs in the bottom half of extra innings of game 7 of the WS, with a 3 run lead and the bases loaded.
    I didn't even celebrate right away after he caught it. I was in shock for a minute cuz I thought the ball was gone as soon as it was hit. He was always one of my favorite players, I wish he stayed and ended his career as a met.

    These guys were my superheroes as a kid. Larger than life characters in a game that I lived and breathed. I remember pretending to be John Maine in the backyard trying to throw the ball straight enough to hit a tree. (Sad childhood I know lol)
    This was the first year that I watched, and that last game ran so long that I had fallen asleep. My dad gently woke me up to let me know that they had lost. My superstition still makes me wonder what would’ve happened if I stayed up lol.

    If you Mets fans thought the Chavez catch was awesome, imagine how it looked from the point of view of Tigers fans such as myself. Yeah, most of Detroit was rooting for the Mets in the 2006 NLCS.
    Truly one of the greatest (and unfortunately, underrated) catches in post-season history: If you guys had won that game, it would be right up there with Willie Mays in 1954 and Kent Hrbek in 1991.

    • @Johnnylowfive
      @Johnnylowfive 3 месяца назад

      Mets win that game and Chavez has a hit in the 9th and you're right but even if Beltran hits that curve, Endy still would have had the play of the year and possibly top 10 ever. As a Mets fan I'm biased and believe if you look at it in context and not with the end result in mind and thats a hard play to top!
