I loved this team and the teams through the 06-09 season(s) but man it almost made me stop loving baseball all together for over a decade... that was just.... too much heartbreak...
I remembered that after the Mets lost that HEARTBREAKING NLCS and HEARTBREAKING game 7 at Shea, I remembered to turning off the TV, going to sleep, and never watching anything to do with sports (papers, internet) for like 3 weeks. I didnt even know who won the WS until like mid-November, when I got back to sports and the NFL.
If Pedro and El Duque didn’t get hurt. If Duaner Sanchez isn’t injured in a freak taxi accident, the Mets likely go a in and trade for Roy Oswalt instead of Darren Oliver. Such a what if season
Ima be honest. It was a fun team to watch in the regular season, but given what happened in the Postseason and the next two seasons, this team shouldn't really be celebrated that much. It's just kind of sad that this and 2015 is all we really have in the last twenty years. The expectations and standards need tk be set higher if we're ever going to win a chip and division title again.
@@EmpSurgethe 2006 team had Pedro Martinez and a lot of star power. Better teams didn't win a championship like the Detroit tigers with Miguel cabrera Victor Martinez Verlander and the Yankees in 2004-08 didnt win anything either. Mets lost to the cardinals in game 7 that's not bad.
A lot of people forget that the Cardinals won 105 games in 2004 and 100 games in 2005. They were very injury riddled during 2006 and finally got everyone back by the end of the season and caught fire.
@@metsclassicsI agree. It was an unknown rookie at the time, Yadier Molina, that buried them with that ninth inning home run in game 7. Remember it like it was yesterday. It helps years later realizing that he’s probably going to make the hall of fame. I still hate him though. Lol.
@@metsfan9298 2006 they dominated the season from game 1 .. completely got out played in the championship series.. 2015 They were around .500 for most of the year and untill the trade deadline

As a Tigers fan. Fully expected to be facing the Mets in the World Series. Honestly was pretty disappointed. Weather we won or lost, id rather it have been the Mets then the 83 win Cardinals 🥲

I wish this 2006 Mets team really won it all. I’m still heart broken by that Wainwright curveball 😢

For me its more of Beltran NOT swinging. He would have crushed that ball
@@bambam8527 exactly ‼️🥺
Willie mishandled the pitching/bullpen mets were better team imo
Beltrán should have swung the bases were loaded for Christ sake
That was the year man 🥲
I have this on DVD. All we can say is what if.
One of my favorite Mets teams ever
Watching this documentary reminds me of the fun this 2024 team has I’m still devastated that this 24’ Mets didn’t get to the World Series 🥺
It's safe to say the disappointment from 2006-2008 served devastating.⚾🇺🇸
A Great Season 😊
❤I still got this on the original DVD….thanks bro let’s go Mets….2006 is my favorite Met season
You should've been around for the 1986 season. I was at game 7 of the World Series in 1986. Greatest Mets team and season of all time.
Whatcha gonna do....Brother when the "Orange and Blue" run wild on you?!😂
Wow. Thank you for sharing this!
My favorite Mets team by far
Your favorite team is a team that choked in the postseason? What a loser
@TL2354 ok guy bc your so cool yankess suck don't be mad
@TL2354 sorry dude yankess are trash and they have a minor leauge lineup besides 2 hitters. Soto to mets
@TL2354 still salty from being swept out new york
@@TL2354they went to game 7 in the NLCS I say that's pretty good. Beltrán did choke though but not the team
"I might just wait here for a little bit… let time pass."
2006 was supposed to be the reincarnation of the 1986 Mets, but it instead was the reincarnation of the 1988 Mets
The choke
The 2006 Mets are the best team ever to never go to the World Series

If Beltran hit a grand slam, we would've been in the World Series.
They
@@TL2354 Thank you.
Just a single probably would’ve gotten them there. Double definitely would have.

I side with 2015 based off that a lot too
At least the 2015 team reached the World Series. I agree that this 2006 shouldn’t be celebrated. I mean come on, a fucking dvd? Lmao
It was a talented team and a fun season. And yes we don't have much to celebrate unfortunately.

And now the 2024 Mets almost got to the promise land 😪
When's your next video?
Are you out of mets games to post?
how tf did they lose to the 82 win cardinals man

Mets keep stealing the Yankees view 0:29
This aged poorly - “we have some unfinished business” means let’s totally choke the next two years and not make the playoffs again until 2015
I hate Adam Wainwright until he retired and after he ruined everything
That’s how I feel about Yadier Molina.
He didn’t ruin anything

Why the fuck did this team get a DVD when they couldn’t even win the national league pennant let alone the World Series 😂
A lot of star power fun team it was a great season. In game 7 anyone could lose it was a great series
Best mets team since 86
Best regular season team, but based off of pitching and postseason, I gotta go with 2015
1988 was the best Mets team since 1986. And 1999 was the best Mets team since 1988
