I have been a Met fan since I was 8 in 1967. 1969 was a spectacular season as was 1986, 2000 and 2015 but I feel 1973 was the best Mets season ever. Now all you Met fans out there I’m willing to bet 2024 is going to be 1973 all over again except this year we win the WS!
This '73 team had guts, gritts, character and solid team chemistry. Imagine, TUG McGRAW, the closer, pitching three innings to close out a ball game.A strong starting staff whose pitchers would go a full nine innings and more if needed. In today's crappy game you have too many overpaid, pampered starters and regular players.
I live in Rhode Island and I hear Red Sox fans say they will never get over losing to the Mets in 86 even though they have won four titles over the last 20 years.

I remember this season like yesterday. My favorite summer. The Mets were my heroes.

These are so fun to watch after many decades, so many of these guys are no longer with us. Thanks for posting.
I was there September 21. It was my birthday and what a present. I was there on the 25th as well....Willy Mays night. The greatest summer.

I was 12 in 73, and sad to say, a huge A's fan. I saw the light in 86. My boss at time took me to 4 Mets games. Heartache city!😂😊
Even after 50 years i will never get over losing 73 world series
Shouldn’t never pitched Seaver on short rest in game 6

Losing to Oakland didn’t sting much because they turned a painful, embarrassing season into a 3 month thrill ride
Tom Seaver picked a White Sox jersey for his HOF plaque. He won #300 as a White Sox player & Carlton Fisk was his catcher.
Wrong. First off, only the hat is on his plaque and it is a Mets hat.
@@stevep8445 But a White Sox jersey. I saw it.
@@stevep8445 He always said his best years were with the Chicago White Sox. He hated the Mets. Koosman was his mortal enemy.

Haha
i want the mets 2024 season similar to the 1973 season. the 2024 mets are dealing with the same issues like what is mentioned in the video
#45 will always be Tug McGraw. End of story
Tug tells 2 different stories about how "Ya Gotta Believe" originated
