    Just got two for $10 at our local Grocery Outlet - they were moist but in the complete dark. Great vid and just what I need to save them! The day I found them we also ended up watching Crime Pays Botany Doesn't's carnivorous plant nursery tour and it was oustanding! Cool plants for sure.

    What if you got your plant during the time it should be dormant? Do you follow this video, then immediately put it outside to start dormancy? Thanks!

      Same here. I bought a Flytrap from a store because it was dying. The main issue was that nobody gave it water in the store and the soil was very dry. I used a rain water, didn't repott it yet. I probably won't put it outside. It doesn't even seem to be dormant. Do you have a basement where the temperature is lower but not as cold as outside? I think that would be a good place where to put your flytrap during winter.

    I bought a venus fly trap a few months ago, since then it has slowly been losing its leaves and only one of the 3 venus flytraps remains. So far it has started to go black too and no longer has any traps is it too late to save it or should I keep trying? I am new to owning a flytrap so I don't know alot

      Just a heads up B-52 will require lots of sunlight to look nice. Mine started forming more red pigmentation when the traps was already pretty big, every trap takes time to turn really red. Good luck and hope you get your B-52.
      Ps. Another super nice looking and vigorous VFT are the Red Dentate, their traps are redish green and very large. They are even more vigorous than the B-52 cultivars.

    • @ravennightmare6070

      These plants normally live outside. But If you bought a Flytrap that wasn't used to direct sunlight, bring it outside only if the sun isn't too strong. Plant could get burned. In the summer, put in outside in the morning and in evening. Avoid the noon sunlight. When your plant acclimates to sunlight, you don't have to bring it back indoor anymore. 👍

    I bought mine during the winter season. Should I repot it or wait till spring? Also I have just started the acclimation process today. When I got it from Home Depot the soil was very moist and am worried that it was overwatered. There are also traps that are black and am hoping that it is just because it is winter.

    • @lucky_lulu317
      @lucky_lulu317 7 месяцев назад

      @@pookie5304-ij8wg based on the research I did they said to keep it moist but not soggy. They also recommended using a tray (with water) to put underneath so that the plant will suck in the water from underneath instead of pouring it directly over the plant as it will keep it from getting overwatered or under watered. I just repotted it during winter because the roots were coming out from the bottom. But as of right now it’s not doing so good because I left it outside and it got overwatered with the rain so I’m hoping it recovers 😕.

    I have a question about my Venus fly trap. Why is the entire plant turning red the stems are red too and the babie traps that haven't opened up yet are red

    • @venusflytrapworld
      @venusflytrapworld  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for the question! Here are my thoughts:
      Some types of VFTs exhibit reddish colors when exposed to intense lighting (like the red dragon) and that is completely normal. Also, in some cases, VFTs can kind of get a sunburn when the weather conditions change suddenly.
