The D9 is a beautiful unit, but certainly not worth the upgrade from a D8 given the very limited added functionality. A few things important to note not covered in the video: 1) The D8BT (bluetooth) can NOT be wired in the event the BT fails. However, the D9 CAN be wired if the BT fails. You can mitigate this risk by buying D8 wired version. 2) ECU Programming is available on the D8 but limited to VW/Audi/Skoda. ECU Programming on the D9 is expanded to BMW, Mazda, Benz, Ford, VW/Audi/SKODA. 3) D9 has the topology scanning to see the network diagram - hopefully this may come to the D8 one day as an update. 4) D9 screen is roughly 1" larger than the D8. 5) D9 PRO has 42 special functions, the D8 has 38. The list in the video is incorrect. Here are the extra special functions the D9 offers; Adblue Reset, Nox Reset, VIN Write, ODO true value read. Overall, the cost difference, and or upgrade difference is in my opinion not worth the upgrade. The list of additional special functions are not commonly used.
I JUST sat down and compared the D8, D9, AND D9 PRO on both of my ('05 & '13) F150's on their site. Scroll down to the bottom of their page, tap on (I think it says) functions.. Here's what I learned: As you look at the columns, with active tests, etc, they all 3 do the same tests. Each column is the same on each row. It's the "Programming" column that caught my eye. The pro showed programming on most modules. They didn't say exactly WHAT programming, but there's atleast SOME programming. Is it worth the $400 or so difference? That's your call. I can't vouch for the programming abilities exactly, but some is better than none.
So interestingly enough, they don’t advertise or show the extent of D8 programming properly. If you email XTOOL support they provide you more info then they advertise.

I own the D8BT. As a DIYer I couldn’t justify twice the price for the hardware and twice the yearly update fee for the few functions the D9 offers that the D8 does not.
After looking at my functions on the D8, I currently have "clutch adaption, HV battery, EGR relearn, FRM reset,VGT relearn, rain/light sensor, reset control unit, A/C relearn, speed limit, SRS.

What is the difference between d9pro and h6 pro master. And is it worth changing my launch with one of the devices on Xtool? I mainly work with bmw ,benz and vw group. Thanks in advance
Well the d.8. all you got to do is upgrade $35 for each one of those so what they spent 250 bucks and now it's still cheaper and now you have all the functions as D 9 you can tell customer that all your viewers in instead of making them pay $1,500 for a d8 no one could pay another $800 just cuz it's Bluetooth
Could someone please give me a straight answer. 2002 jaguar x-type: all keys lost ecu coding and cluster programming. Does the D8 do it? The manufacturer hasn't got back to me. I mainly work on older jaguar.
Hi is this cover odometer mileage correction for 2015 Range Rover L405 and full coverage please Because I am thinking of upgrade mine XTOOL 100 to D8 or D9 if you don’t mind help me which is better.
Both the D9 and D9 Pro are both wireless Bluetooth. The D9 Pro comes with ECU programming capabilities on VW, Mercedes, BMW, and offline ECU programming on Ford, Mazda while XTOOL D9 does not.
I did a pre-purchase check (by VIN) with the manufacturer, but found that the vehicle is NOT yet covered despite this check. Need to really make sure with recent vehicles - mine was 2019 Vauxhall and did not work
Why do you say the D8 doesn't do ECU coding? I thought it's big advantage over the D7 is that it could do ECU coding. I recently had to put VIN in a Ford Brake module and couldn't with the D7, then needed it again on Silverado 2500 HD PCM ,again D7 couldn't do it but every ad for D8 says ECU Coding.
Yes, there is a kilometer adjustment feature, but it does not work in most modern American, Japanese, European, Korean, Chinese cars. There are tools that are cheaper than this device and practically beat it I regret buying it
How is this compared to the new icon t8 ? And also if I don’t want to update the D9 pro, will it still keep all its functionality? Or will it lose some features
HI Can the device D9 PRO program the tire system? For example, if I wanted to adjust the tire pressure from 35PSI to 30PSI, so that the alarm would sound when the air was less than 30PSI instead of sounding the alarm when it was less than 35PSI.
Don't expect these Chinese xTools to work for American vehicles older than about 2005. They ignored my request to update their data profiles for my 1999 F-250 7.3 and my 2001 Dodge Dakota. Go with almost any American made scan tool if you have an older vehicle.
It barely works with certain functions for Asian vehicles also I wanted to reset my transmission and there is no function for that for my Asian vehicle because my transmission is shifting hard I was expecting to be able to reset my transmission but surprise surprise nothing there for that talking about the D8
@@neto5480 The only ones with built-in scopes are by Snap-On, I believe. Autel, Launch, Topdon (re-branded Launch) and Thinktool (re-branded Launch) all offer add-on scope modules that vary in price. I personally use a Topdon scanner and a separate scope by Micsig.
A separate scope would be more useful. That way screen clutter is minimized and processing power will be apportioned between two diagnostic units. Rigol has good bang for buck scopes and even the 4 channel models aren't prohibitive in cost.
