Since I started listening to Dr. Peterson, I no longer struggle with addiction. I started business school at 27 years old. I'm moving from a small town in Pennsylvania to Seattle, and I'm actively engaged in 2 separate startup businesses, and I'm losing weight, staying active an healthy. This man has transformed my life in so many ways. I used to be this defeated, pitiful man ravaged by a lifelong war with myself and the world around me. This man is my sail, a tool on my ship to navigate the storms in life through to the peaceful ocean on the other side.
I was skeptical at first, but once I listened in earnest to Jordan Peterson, I instantly knew the joke was on me for ever giving an ounce of credence to mainstream media attacks. This guy is gold.
The media profits by manufacturing hate. All comments are positive meanwhile 5k people disliking the video just because they don't want to listen to the source, they've made their opinion already
@@marylannigan2964 Jordan Peterson says lots of stupid things. Blaming mainstream media is disregarding that fact that people can come to their own conclusions.
When I met Jordan at his lecture in Riverside, California, I intentionally did not unload my story upon him. Partly because it's my cross to carry, not his, and partly because I was acutely aware of the weight he was already carrying. Instead, I tried to keep the interaction brief, and I managed to make him laugh, so I felt pretty good about that.
Brilliant comment mate. I saw him in Brisbane Australia some years back, he is most definitely the real deal & can only be a positive influence on our species. God Bless. Mitch from Australia.
Im 32 and all I can say is this man has been God send. I've never been suicidal in my life but the last few years my trajectory has been spiraling down and now I can see I was definitely heading this direction. Dr Peterson has helped me start to salvage my life and given more hope and tools to improve than anyone I've ever seen. Words cannot express enough how thankful I am for this human being and know he's helping millions of others in dire situations. He'll forever have my gratitude.

Jordan Peterson is a phenomenon for several reasons: 1) He's a genuinely good person seeking truth 2) He has the gift of gab - very good communicator 3) He got himself attention by speaking the truth on controversial issues when it wasn't convenient 4) He speaks the truth that a large number of people feel they can't say out loud
When Jordan suffers its difficult to watch, only 3-4 years ago his objective understanding of life helped me navigate my way out of depression. I really hope he finds some peace in life. 🥰
Yeah the worse society the more being depressed seems like the logical emotional response too. It's odd for everyone to expect others to be happy about being oppressed or abused.
This interviewer is tough enough to make this a legitimate conversation, while keeping the dialogue respectful enough to let Dr Peterson know it isn't a hit piece or gotcha journalism. Nicely done.
It's not a question of "toughness". It's a genuine interview, even a conversation. It's clearly not a series of patsy questions with pre-written answers. Nor is it a hatchet session - so beloved by media folk.

I'll add my opinion on why he's a phenomena, it's because he's the father figure most of us never had. He is wise, caring and stern when needed and he wants to help us grow up to be what we can be. How can anyone not love and respect that attitude from such a demonstrably sincere man. It's the worlds loss that people like him cannot face a political career but his assessment of his own nature and that of politics is spot on, I think it would depress him to the point of a break. I love the fact that Jordan Peterson actually pauses to think about a question before he answers it. @@ratherbyexploring4898 Asking that part twice was one time too many, but I don't think Stephen believes it or is trying to frame Peterson. He just asked about it because it's controversial. That's a rare level of discipline.
Nearly impossible to find, certainly. But, nearly extinct? Who knows. In this world of fearmongering politicians, it may well be that most genuine people are just too afraid of speaking.
I like this guy because he means well, he is humble and wise and above all else he has no malicous intent behind his words - That is why so many people wanted to silence him - he has the power to influence people - and those who wanted to silence him wanted to be the only ones speaking so the only message that was out there - was their own message - and their message was all about malicious intent. That is why they hated him because knowingly or not - he was deprogamming many people - undoing their malicious work and that made him their enemies.
Very astute observation! As I have said elsewhere in comments, I also think that the way he faces the world with honour, courage and honesty, is inspiring others who feel the same way to do the same. It's not possible to shut-down the independent thinking of people who have found what he says resonates with them and they now have an intellectual foundation to defend their values from the scoundrels of the world. I have personally seen amongst my friendship group, that those of us who find he resonates with us have become far less willing to compromise our own principles for expediency, and are developing the ability to see through attempts to manipulate us back into the collective group-think that mainstream society has become. He is indeed dangerous, because he is inspiring those of good nature (no matter our politics) to take a stand. It is clearly a terrible burden, and I hope he can endure it. I am sure though that if he falters there will be millions of people who are waiting to catch him if he falls. I think at this point, even if he does accidentally say something that gives his enemies ammunition to attempt to take him out, it just wont matter to all of those who have been inspired by him.
My thoughts exactly. I actually pity them. What warped, bitter, miserable lives they must lead to hold any resentment towards a man with such empathy, humility and honesty.
I've found it's just misinformation man. I know tons of people to who I've told his message but left his name out of the discussion and they found it so helpful and enlightening. but others who I mention his name to if they know it that is, either love him or hate him based on the first article/video they read/watched. I think there's a big difference between someone who found him randomly through an NYT or VICE hatchet job piece than someone who found him organically or through an article written with some integrity. There are also the people who don't have the time and will to watch hours of his YT content who might have stumbled down allegation ally with all the institutional anti-Peterson propaganda. TL;DR I think most people are good, and had they not been propagandized they'd be receptive to him, but sadly NYT and VICE got to them first and he got one of the "ist" brands to his reputation in their eyes.

It's strange that Peterson is a man of ideas but his video comments are 99% gushing praise with no mention or discussion of anything he says. Stephen Fry tried to highlight this in their discussion by saying: 'its very easy to be lax about disavowing those who like one, but who one doesn't like.
@@Devachandra9 Dr. Peterson's wisdom has been getting smaller the more he speaks on topics he has no business acting as an expert in. His views on climate change, are ones of simple ignorance as have been pointed out by actual climate experts. His views on communism, not that I am defending communism, have also been shown to be based on a lack of understanding of communism. Almost all of his views on these subjects have been picked apart when confronted by actual experts in these areas, While I use to respect Peterson, I almost have to assume that most of his comments outside of psychology are to pander to his ideological fan base and not things he truly believes.
