- From Jan., 2000. Dennis performs a medley of Styx hits live on a Chicago morning news program hosted by Bob Sirott and Marianne Murciano. Somewhat strange venue and even stranger audience!
What a lucky bunch of people to get that treat from Dennis, unplugged and close-up. These people seemed oblivious to the fact that they were in the presence of one of the all time great songwriters. They just didn't get it. But he was terrific.
Well said. 👍👍💜🙏🇺🇸
He still sounds great after all these years.
my god what a great talent Dennis is..
Superb Class Act..Would Love To See This Guy Live..Maybe One Day..In The Meantime .Don't Let It End 🎵🎧🎸😎
I grew up in Northwest IN, about 50 miles from Chicago. I've been living far from there for many years. I miss the Chicago accent. I love hearing you talk Dennis. Your songs have many memories attached. You sound great. I remember Bob Sirrot. I miss Chicago radio. Imagine being at a diner and getting serenaded by Dennis De Young. Wow.
I did as well (but about 80 miles). The voice of WLS and Larry Lujack and snot nosed tommy on the school bus every morning over the crackling of the AM radio. I heard Lady when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade (1973/74). Great times!
I had gotten used to the new sound of Styx over the years, but after watching this video I realized I had been missing a lot! I am going to see Styx in the near future so it will be interesting. The last time I saw a concert of theirs was "Kilroy was Here" in 1983 at Notre Dame ACC. I am definitely going to have to book tickets to see Dennis soon!
@Andrew Sporner Just so you know, Dennis has not performed with Styx for over twenty years. If I were you, I'd see BOTH performances! Tommy Shaw's band has retained the 'Styx' name, but Dennis still performs on his own. I don't know that they each perform the same hits, so you'll have to research former set lists.
@@60s70sChicagoRock I was aware of those things. I saw Styx last night in Fort Wayne-great show! Lawrence has done a good job taking over for Dennis, but there will only be one Dennis. Really unfortunate that egos run high in music, but if they didn’t the music wouldn’t be so good. I agree, I will see both! Thanks!
@@asporner Totally agree. I wish it weren't all about egos, but it runs rampant in the industry. Glad you had a great time and thanks for commenting!
Just found this!!
Just moved to Chicago....it's 12 years later.
So cool (the patrons didn't know what the h--l was going on.....Sooo funny !)
A great voice. And I did not know he had these keyboard skills. Very impressive!
@Max Hennessy Dennis was the lead singer/keyboardist for Styx starting in 1970! ruclips.net/video/0866gF_bEZ8/видео.html
I got to see his wife come out onto the stage during the concert as well and she is just really georgous the prettiest wife of a rockstar that I have ever seen my jaw almost dropped when I saw her too that moment in the show was the most incredible experience that I have ever seen
Wow. Still got it. Of course this was a few years ago. The POINT is DDY FOREVER✊🏾
I went to that concert at the Rosemont. Terrific show.
Pure voice of DDY unadulterated by autotune...
Who were those 3 or 4 idiots at the restaurant who weren't even paying attention? Here is a once in a lifetime event, where one of the greatest musician/singer/songwriters that ever lived is doing a private concert for them and they're not even watching. Unbelievable!
I like Dennis DeYoung. He has a great voice.
so do I and I think he has a great voice too I went to see him in concert at Lewistons Hot August Nights back in 2010 I got his Autograph the next day he was very generous about it too and the radio station folks that gave me the autograph with a concert backstage pass and parking pass to me said I was the only fan of his to get his autograph from the show the night before and it looked as though he had read my fan letter and encouraged me to keep singing
There is a soup in fly! Lol i love his jokes
That would be weird if the guy from the mystical Grand Illusion poster that used to hang on your wall when you were a kid brought a tray of food to your table.
That was/is his wife & daughter :)
@@GonzoAmerican That would be weird if the guy from the mystical Grand Illusion poster that used to hang on your wall when you were a kid was your dad.
Fuck that...STYX ITS TIME TO REUNITE.
hang in there... there are a lot of close friends who love you. Rhonda Anne Reiser distant cousin.
Poor Dennis. He did awesome, but he had a totally boring and dead crowd.
Lol
Well show me your platinum records and history of sold out shows... Troll...
True! I Bet you can't even sell 100 Copies of your Shit!
He put them to sleep
Stop trying to just stir up controversy. DDY is one of the great musicians of the 20th century. Quit trying to drag him down to your level

If Dennis cured cancer, you would still trash him.
