I was just waiting for The Green Mile the entire time. The list was well put together in my opinion, but I'm pretty sure nobody wanted Maximus in Gladiator to die.

I read the book as a teenager and cried like a little girl when his death occurs, then I saw the movie and cried like a straight bitch!!!!! Hell I still do to this day when I watch it, one of my favorite movies, and probably the best book adaptation of a film I have ever seen, it's literally almost word for word the way King wrote it......Also as for Maximus really how is he not on here!?
Mufassa from lion king, draco from dragonheart, Jack from Titanic, Danny from pearl harbour, Hooch from Turner and Hooch and Carlito from Carlito's Way the list goes on
There's also Bambi's mother from BAMBI - although, oddly enough, that one didn't affect me that much when I was a kid. I thought, ah, she's old, it was her time, and the one I really feel sorry for is Bambi himself, because now all he has is that creepy father of his.
What the ACTUAL FUCK. Why is Wash from Serenity not on this list? Let me explain to you why his death should be on the fucking list: 1. He was a character well-loved among fans of the original TV show, Firefly. 2. He had just escaped a massive battle unscathed, and the fans were under the impression that he was safe. 3. His death came out of nowhere 4. The death scene itself lasted no more than 20 seconds, giving you no time for the shock to sink in. And you fucking dare tell me that a dog dying is worse. Hell, go to the search bar up there and search "Serenity Wash death scene". Watch it and you'll know.
Gwen didn't belong on the list. That death was practically comical. I was surprised she lived through the first movie and beyond her cameo in the 3rd of the Raimi Trilogy. Also, I agree with you.
GOJIRA1214 Yes, my opinion. Maybe it's because I know the character's history a little from the comic or that it was broadcast from the first movie. I wouldn't say I "wanted" her to die (maybe a little after the third time she was dropped just to get it over with), but I was expecting it. Usually, a character you don't want to die is one that goes through immense hardships and you pull for them to succeed (under dog stories). The little kid standing up to the Rhino choked me up more than she did. Likely knowing what was going to happen again, I wager. The webbing "hand" was comical though.
Alright...when I was leaving the theater at the end of T2 I saw some old dude (probably a guy much younger than I am now....but I digress) crying over the end of the T800.....but I personally thought that bit was rather corny.
It seems like I'm the only human that gets distraught when human characters die.Yes it's sad when everything dies but I can't know other species inside out and relate to them. I can't feel sick at the idea of an animal leaving parents or children behind. Is this just me?
Human are assholes, dogs are not, and if they are it is because a human was a asshole to the dog i the first place. so with humans we are just like: mhe, but with dogs we are like: HE DID NOT DO ANYTHING WRONG, WHY DID HE HAVE TO DIE!
I agree. I avoid movies with animals in them like the plague, because I just know they're going to kill them off, and then I'm going to hyperventilate. Any other death I'm like eh whatever.
I have an impression that someone forgot or haven't watched "Boy in striped pyjamas", "Braveheart" and "Platoon" (I watched this film a couple of times and Elias' death scene many, many times and I still cry when I watch that; this scene is made that good and the character is so great and positive).
Okay first of all Gwen Stacy has no business being on this list. The only notable thing she does in any of her appearances is die. Its referred to as the Gwen Stacy effect. Since that is her dominant character trait and it was well known she was going to die, not to mention the hilariously poor way they tried to make us give a fuck makes her death unworthy of being on this list. There were so many better options.
Where the fuck did you get that "Gwen Stacy effect" shit from? If anything it should be called the "Uncle Ben effect" or "Mr. & Mrs. Wayne effect" since those characters literally only exist to die. Atleast Gwen was originally created as a real love interest for Peter before eventually being killed off.
General Steelflex well the "Uncle Ben effect" or "Mr. & Mrs. Wayne effect" are for the heroes parents or other family members, the "Gwen Stacy effect" is for the boyfriend/girlfriend of the hero, for example: Rachel in The Dark Knight. Thank you and fuck you "Gwen Stacy effect"
Phoenix Oroboros My point was that Uncle Ben, Thomas Wayne, Martha Wayne, etc. are characters created for the sole purpose of dying. Both Gwen and Rachel were not created with the intention of killing them off, it just eventually happened.
I read the comics and I still wanted her to live. She's one of the best characters of the entire franchise and actually helps Peter with something, with or without her death, Peter would become the more Spider-Man anyway, his responsibilities would get bigger turning him to a "man", like any person would. Just because you don't like or you're that type of guy " But comics!" That doesn't mean that she should die or don't be on this list. Your opinion isn't everyone's opinion.
Where is Qui-Gon? Qui-Gon Jinn should be on this list!! If he didn't die, then the prequels would be a lot better. Anakin would grow up with a father figure as well as a brother figure and wouldn't feel alone in the Jedi Order. He would have married Padme regardless, and still bring balance to the force, without joining the Dark Side to do so!! Why did he not make this list!? (He doesn't have a resurrection, just appears in Jedi Ghost form and that's similar to Dumbledore!!)
viKing1428 So you are condoning Qui-Gon's Death? Cruel, man. You are too cruel. Many Jedi would have you convicted for that mentality! My point was that Qui-Gon was a character we as a fandom liked. Yeah, he had problems, but he was wise and funny and kicked ass. We grew attached and when he died, our hearts broke. At least some of us, if you really ARE condoning his death!! Shame on you!!
Floydthefuckbag Obi-Wan died in the early-middle of New Hope. Qui-Gon died near the end of Phantom Menace. Slightly more emotional for Qui-Gon, but you have a point. Sad thing: Watching the Prequels made me feel slightly disconnected with Obi-wan because he was pretty much unkillable during the prequels (well, him and a dozen other characters that got near death on more than one occasion). Don't get me wrong, he's a great and strong character, but the fact that he wasn't going to die or be anywhere near death in the over-under of it all just makes it harder to keep that connection.
I actually would've replaced Dumbledore with Dobby. Dang that elf got me so emotional, one of the only creatues do die in a film that actually made me cry.
gamelvr1 Common sense should dictate that we don't see Wilson as a literal biological creature. Why would you think that we actually believe that? You're taking this way too seriously. Is that because arguing against that is basically the easiest argument you can make, and those are the only kind of arguments you can make? Come on, man, try harder.
Idk man, Sirius got to me more than Dumbledore!! Harry had finally found his god father only to lose him AGAIN & this time, forever; a third parent, gone. That broke my heart & even though I loved when Mrs. Weasley killed Bellatrix ("don't touch my daughter, bitch", or something to that matter lol), my heart still hurt for Sirius and Harry. Dumbledore was sad as well tho!! Just, IMO, not as heart wrenching as Sirius
And The Green Mile is only the second movie ever to make me cry (the 1st was a Lifetime movie named "A Promise To Caroline"). After seeing it only about 100 times, I finally read the book & I LOVED it!! Definitely the saddest movie death, RIP John!!
+Danii Dee I agree. I was more upset about Dobby and Sirius (though albus still upset me), though I found Severus Snape and Boromir from LOTR and Thorin from The Hobbit way more upsetting.
@@bl5533,as in,how can the Terminator make the list but not other film characters, like Mufasa from The Lion King?Like how can the Terminator come when he is rebuilt? They said no resurrections!
I thought that the death of Jack Nicholson's character from one flew over the cuckooos nest was pretty sad. The death of 2 socks the wolf from dances with Wolves really hurt.
boromir's death was one of the saddest, especially since everything he talked about in lothlorien, about Gondor being restored etc all happened but he never lived to see it :(
Not just kill his dog but the only social contact he had in the whole world. As far as he knew at the time he was now basically in a sort of solitary confinement for the rest of his life. The cruelty of that death would have been the gift that kept on giving. Bet a bullet was gonna start looking mighty tasty pretty soon.
The death of dumbledore really got me. I’m not a fan of Harry Potter, but my friend took me to see every single movie so the tears really flowed when dumbledore died. The death of Optimus Prime in the 1986 movie and then again in the 2009 movie really got a lot of fans crying. Including me. Yeah sure he came back at the end of the 2009 film, but still. Optimus is such a beloved character. His death was both awesome and horrifying to watch.
Wash in Serenity. If you only saw the movie, this might be just like "whatever" but if you watched Firefly first, you know Wash was the sweetest guy in space and did not deserve to die the way he did.
Leijonafani Still, I'd say Bubba's death was far more emotional than Jenny's in my opinion. P.S. I was kind of okay with her dying because I honestly felt no sympathy for her (set aside her childhood) and leading Forrest on and just toying with his emotions really doesn't help her case.
WatchMojo.com I have a recommendation for you guys. For spoiler heavy lists like this, why not put the names of the Films into the description, so those of us whom have not seen all the films can read beforehand and make a judgement call to watch your video or not. Thank you and hopefully you see this amongst the swash of comments. Eden.
Ken Wong Yah, as I said, judgement call, either entertainment for 12 mins with a bit of a spolier to a documentative video, or none at all. I vote for the former.
Jake V Its a movie... People die... Usually around 12 main/onscreen characters. I wouldn't care if I found out accidentally that one may die; hell, especially if its an action film.
This is a very good list, even the honorable mentions. I don’t know what tugged at my heartstrings the most but I’m gonna have to go with Black Panther
Oh please no I hated this scene with all the violins that lasted like 25 minutes. They really did everything they could to make this scene sad, but it was so artificial
Once again, like with tragic movie deaths, where the flying fluff is Leslie's death in Bridge to Terabithia? Is it because we don't see her die which makes it not count?
Ed Drow In my opinion, Bridge To Terabithia is wrongly branded as a kids film mainly because a lot of the themes that are in it would go straight over kids heads. I'd say it's more of a movie for mid teens like me.
I thought Logan would be number 1, but then watching John Coffey reminded me why he's number one
But still we had Logan for 17 years whereas John Coffey was in one movie
Prof. Xavier's death was far more heartbreaking to me.

There's also Bambi's mother from BAMBI - although, oddly enough, that one didn't affect me that much when I was a kid. I thought, ah, she's old, it was her time, and the one I really feel sorry for is Bambi himself, because now all he has is that creepy father of his.
T-800 WHAT ABOUT DUMBLEDORE AND FRED? ;-;
T-800 also Triss from Divergent
T-800 what about Sam from I am legend
The from The Hunger Games?
“Stay gold pony boy stay gold” 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭☹️☹️🥺🥺😰😰😩😩😖😖😣😣
What the ACTUAL FUCK.
Why is Wash from Serenity not on this list?
Let me explain to you why his death should be on the fucking list:
1. He was a character well-loved among fans of the original TV show, Firefly.
2. He had just escaped a massive battle unscathed, and the fans were under the impression that he was safe.
3. His death came out of nowhere
4. The death scene itself lasted no more than 20 seconds, giving you no time for the shock to sink in.
And you fucking dare tell me that a dog dying is worse.
Hell, go to the search bar up there and search "Serenity Wash death scene". Watch it and you'll know.
While i agree, point 3 is just 2+
I agree, I was surprised he wasn't on the list!
Wow cool story bro
There is a really really simple answer here that you overlooked "top 10 movie characters"
Uncle Ben is the saddest death i think... The original, not the amazing Spider-Man
Gwen didn't belong on the list. That death was practically comical. I was surprised she lived through the first movie and beyond her cameo in the 3rd of the Raimi Trilogy. Also, I agree with you.
Justin Betts your opinion... people cried in the theater I was in
GOJIRA1214 Yes, my opinion.
Still sad
Alright...when I was leaving the theater at the end of T2 I saw some old dude (probably a guy much younger than I am now....but I digress) crying over the end of the T800.....but I personally thought that bit was rather corny.
Is it just me, or when a human dies I'm mildly sad but when a dog/animal dies I cry myself to sleep that night?
human death is common in media so we have been desensitized to it but animals are not.
Dogs are by nature innocent... you can't really say that about humans
Phoenix Oroboros
My point was that Uncle Ben, Thomas Wayne, Martha Wayne, etc. are characters created for the sole purpose of dying. Both Gwen and Rachel were not created with the intention of killing them off, it just eventually happened.
i agree.
Now, do Top 10 Movie Characters we WANTED to die.
They did that
Miguel Caceres when?
Idk but they did look it up
I think it's something like "Most satisfying movie deaths"...
How about movie characters we wanted to die but didn't.
The outsiders book ending when johnny and that guy who only lived because of johnny made me sad I hardly ever get sad for a character in a book
James Norrington from Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Where is Qui-Gon? Qui-Gon Jinn should be on this list!! If he didn't die, then the prequels would be a lot better. Anakin would grow up with a father figure as well as a brother figure and wouldn't feel alone in the Jedi Order. He would have married Padme regardless, and still bring balance to the force, without joining the Dark Side to do so!!
Why did he not make this list!? (He doesn't have a resurrection, just appears in Jedi Ghost form and that's similar to Dumbledore!!)
But if Anakin never joined the dark side, there would be no original trilogy
You have a very good point
viKing1428 So you are condoning Qui-Gon's Death?
Obi-Wan deserves a spot more than Qui-Gon.
I really cried for JOHN COFFEY
Me too
me too
Who didnt
It’s did make me cried when he says don’t put that mask on I afraid of the dark
Who didn’t 😫😭
Where is Sirius Black?! But pretty good list apart from that :)
I actually would've replaced Dumbledore with Dobby. Dang that elf got me so emotional, one of the only creatues do die in a film that actually made me cry.
Same here :(
There is dobby isnt that enough
@@Woody78902 My mom was in tears seeing Dobby die
I cried for Sirius Black in theaters
What about
Cedric Diggory Harry Potter
Finnick Hunger Games
Tris Divergent
And so many others
Paige Henson prim as well 😭
Tris does not die
And George Wealsey
Rue from hunger games or newt from maze runner
@@DekaNovelist Ok thanks
I started getting teary eyed just looking at John Coffee. That movie broke my heart.
I was just crying a river...
You guys forgot Wilson from Cast Away ;-;
YOURE A DEATH DONT RUIN MY NEW YEAR I SHUN YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST
when i was 11 we watched Cast Away in class and when Wilson drifted away I was crying silently in the corner
Pega Sister I fea you. ;-;
gamelvr1 I hope you rot in hell !!
We're just fucking with you if you haven't noticed.
gamelvr1
Common sense should dictate that we don't see Wilson as a literal biological creature. Why would you think that we actually believe that? You're taking this way too seriously. Is that because arguing against that is basically the easiest argument you can make, and those are the only kind of arguments you can make? Come on, man, try harder.
Dr King Schulz in Django Unchained!
Joel G He just couldnt resist
Rufio’s death broke my heart when I watched Hook as a kid. I literally cried but love his voice as Prince Zuko
Rorschach's death in Watchmen should've made the list.
Nah, I'm glad he died.
Where's Maximus from Gladiator?
+Danii Dee Pretty everyone of the good guys that died in Harry Potter was gut wrenchingly sad.
+Brittany Paulhus I agree but I'm comparing Dumbledore & Sirius and in MY opinion, Sirius was sadder
+Danii Dee Dobby > Snape > Sirius > Hedwig > Fred > Remus and Nymphadora > Cedric.... Hell even Bellatrix! > Dumbledore.
Jack from the Titanic
They must die forever
Puts Terminator on the list
Rebuilding or new one?
Stephy The Bride what
@@bl5533,as in,how can the Terminator make the list but not other film characters, like Mufasa from The Lion King?Like how can the Terminator come when he is rebuilt? They said no resurrections!
Swan Ronson But that Terminator did die forever.
Terminator didn't get rebuilt, he got replaced.
I thought that the death of Jack Nicholson's character from one flew over the cuckooos nest was pretty sad. The death of 2 socks the wolf from dances with Wolves really hurt.
+Lisa Edwards Agree about 2 Socks!
+Lisa Edwards one flew over the cuckoos nest was the first movie to make me cry
+Lisa Edwards Yea I just saw that movie for the first time a couple weeks ago and it was awesome and really sad in the end.
+Lisa Edwards Most animal deaths would fit. Two Socks. Hooch. Old Dan & Little Ann. Old Yeller. Draco.
I nearly lost it when Two Socks died. Same with Jack Nicholson. These two deserve to be top 10. Probably top 5 at least for Nicholson.
boromir's death was one of the saddest, especially since everything he talked about in lothlorien, about Gondor being restored etc all happened but he never lived to see it :(
Grace Arainai ik he was one of my favourites
hes an ass who wanted to look clean
SirEnneth Green lol ok
Grace Arainai Aragon wore his arm braces the rest of the series

Christopher Walken - "The Deer Hunter"
Killian Flaherty His acting was amazing, though. Maybe you're right.
Philip j Hoffman - Doubt
Johnny and Dally (Dallas) The Outsiders
No Maximus Decimus Meridius?!?!?!?
Yea wtf is up with that
The Laggy Gamer I know, I was thinking the same!
Dave Phillips me too and also the kid from Pay it forward.
The Laggy Gamer i think they have another top ten of the most honorable deaths for main characters. it might be why.
The Laggy Gamer i'm saying this cause he's number 1 on that list if i recall correctly
You forgot Dallas's death in The Outsiders
Stop the. Spoilers
The CrazyBossBoy - dude there is no such thing as spoilers for a book/movie that old
Damn I cried again from just watching the short clip of I am Legend, when Sam died.
Me too
Haven't even seen the movie but I was getting misty eyed
Me too
Will Smith had to Old Yeller His Dog sad shit main
What about han solo's death
This video came out before Star Wars: The Force Awakens was even out
jesus fucking crist your a very special kida stupid
+deamon nedula *you're
And you're talking.
movie wasnt out when this video was made
deamon nedula Very mature for your age aren't you...
Wash in Serenity. If you only saw the movie, this might be just like "whatever" but if you watched Firefly first, you know Wash was the sweetest guy in space and did not deserve to die the way he did.
And Wash's death was actually completely unexpected, unlike many of the characters featured on Mojo's list. So, so sad.
Wash :(
I'm a leaf on the...
Mufasa in the Lion King, Ray in the Princess and the Frog, Bambi's mother,
i think they don't cartoons in the list
Yeah for sure dude. Good call
Optimus Prime :(
lyhthegreat They are movies, and they have deaths.
I don't find the death of Bambi's mother sad because she provided the hunter with delicious venison. The film Bambi is just anti-hunting propaganda
THEY FINALLY PUT JOHNNY CADE AND ITS IN THE HONORABLE MENTIONS
IKR
#8 is Creed?
#8
is Apollo
FUCKING
CREED
WHY IS HE NOT WAY HIGHER
HE DESERVES TO BE WAY HIGHER
who?
Apollo Creed died in Rocky 4 and it was the worst thing ever, it deserves to be higher
He already is high. You mean lower
yeh
Lenny from Of Mice and Men anybody?
Walter Erenhouse book yes. Film no
If you've read the book you knew exactly what was coming, still sad though
Mickey from rocky3
Lenny had to die. Dude was too stupid to be trusted.
Tell me about the rabbits, George ;(
Jenny from Forrest Gump and Marley from Marley & Me should have been in this
Jenny was a horrible person, wasn't sad when she passed.
Chris Hernandez True, but she was Gump's best friend and girlfriend
Leijonafani And wife...
CB Money I was about to put wife instead of girlfriend but I wasn't sure did they get married
9:43 greatest scene in movie history cuz he died wdym
10:12 was sad af no cap
so was 10:40
Maximus in gladiator.
The only one I was interested in was Johnny Cade's Death from The Outsiders
And they should've put Dally's death too so sad 😢😢😭😭😭
Honestly same the outsiders is such a good movie
Johnny's death destroyed me😭 I had like a 2 month Emo phase after reading The Outsiders.
Eden.
That would be spoiler to the video itself
Ken Wong Yah, as I said, judgement call, either entertainment for 12 mins with a bit of a spolier to a documentative video, or none at all. I vote for the former.
Jake V Its a movie... People die... Usually around 12 main/onscreen characters. I wouldn't care if I found out accidentally that one may die; hell, especially if its an action film.
This is a very good list, even the honorable mentions. I don’t know what tugged at my heartstrings the most but I’m gonna have to go with Black Panther
How the hell is mufassa not on the list
What about brooks from shawshank redemption
Mkxgamer 1001 good one
Meh
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2
Oh please no I hated this scene with all the violins that lasted like 25 minutes. They really did everything they could to make this scene sad, but it was so artificial
I agree but you are late
@
Mary poppins yall
Honestly I fuckin forgot that guy existed. Shit felt so artificial.
Johnny Cade should have been one of the actual deaths instead of a honorable mention
WTF seriously Batman Vs Superman At 5.54 on I am legend. ???????
yeha, this scene is known, btw everyone knew that they would make a SvsB sometime
Yeah its fucking 2014
I saw that too!
Dude you know how late you are? People noticed that 7 years ago...
Actually you guys are wrong. That poster was for Batman/Superman Apocalypse not Batman vs Superman
Sam's death in I am Legend really stopped me from watching that film from that point.
The dog always dies in movies like that.
You did yourself a favor.
It's the sole reason why I never seen, nor want to see, said film.
I cried when Sam died 😭😪

hey wut about king in django unchained
and the church death in the kingsman secret service
Man appollo creed didn’t have to go man
Once again, like with tragic movie deaths, where the flying fluff is Leslie's death in Bridge to Terabithia? Is it because we don't see her die which makes it not count?
oh damn i forgot about that movie. she should have replaced gwen stacy or dumbledore
***** I'd say she should replace Dumbledore. Any movie that has Emma Stone dying should be depressing.
Her death make me cry, but without her death the movie wouldn't be so beautiful it is, because this movie isn't a kidsfilm
Ed Drow There are literally so many more to do. I think they should do another list :P
Ed Drow In my opinion, Bridge To Terabithia is wrongly branded as a kids film mainly because a lot of the themes that are in it would go straight over kids heads. I'd say it's more of a movie for mid teens like me.
you could have made the entire list out of HP characters
and it would have been a shitty list
Fred got me more than Dumbledore
urianthefatmansgreat YES BECAUSE GEORGE
SAME
And now I am back here to say that number one is definitely Tony Stark
I agree no one wanted iron man to die in endgame
John Coffe's death is still sadder
