Dark age tech Knights were the equivalent of excavators for colony worlds. Meaning theres a nonzero chance the STCs for some Knights may have a Caterpillar logo embedded in the data, or a few houses who's heraldry favor shades of green and running deer.
Imagine what the reaction of the knight operators of now would be if they were to discover that their first great grand ancestors (first colonizers) were OSHA certified heavy machine operators and mechanical engineers. That would be humbling to know they came from humble beginnings.
Bro, Acastus/Cerastus knights were NOT exclusive to the Great Crusade and the Heresy 💀 They’re rarer than Questoris, sure, but both chassis (especially Cerastus knights) are still very commonly produced the Mechanicus.
Maybe a stupid question: Is there a set number of Knight Households you can choose from? Like, if I get one and paint some Heraldry of a "made-up" House on it, is that fair game or will people ridicule me? I really don't know how strict people are when ot comes to making up some of your own lore. I've heard of people making up their own Space Marine Chapter, so a Knight Household should be fair game is my reasoning. Unless ofc I misunderstood that or am misinformed.
There’s a book called “shield of the emperor” a book comprised of multiple imperial guard short stories but the one that stands out the most to me is “death world “ which covers a group of catachan guardsmen being deployed to a world called “ Rogar III” a world which was mysteriously changed to a death world over night.. upon arrival they have to fight orks upon the planet but are constantly being attacked and stalked by the planets horrors! It’s something NOBODY talks about and it’s such a cool and awesome horror story! I’d love nothing more then to hear you cover this book and its awesomeness! I know that now it has been at least 20 years since GW decided that 40K and Fantasy are two separated universes, only linked by the Warp. But it would just make so damn sense if the Fantasy world was a knight world were, for some reason, all main xenos factions who were already there in the 20th millenium also has settled (plus the local ones : lizardemen and skavens), and then when the Human and Eldar empire fell together, at this point those provoked the Chaos engulfing into the Fantasy word with the fell of the Slans, and all factions here technologically downgraded, implying the Humans lost also their mechanical knights in the process. And than now, the Fantasy world is one the human worlds who are still isolated by a Warp storm. (Not to mention that the theory saying Sigmar was a lost Primarch would be totally possible in that case)
Wonderful video! I collect knights and spent a lot of time writing a backstory for the house. Wish this had been there when I had, would have saved a lot of time! Their a house who’s most talented pilots get recruited into the nearby forge worlds legio, I like to think of them forming bonds of family akin to space marines fighting alongside dreadnoughts, just at a bigger scale.

Let those who commit the mistake of challenging me, face the fury of strength incarnate. Let my footsteps be heard through the stars, so that the cowards may do what they do best. May every shell turn its hatred towards my armor, so that the noble and the innocent will be spared.
Thought I'd mention, if you read Assasinorum: Kingmaker (excellent book btw, would recommend), you'll notice a fairly even mix of male and female pilots, and the issue of gender never even comes up outside of having children. Additionally, when reading through the 9th edition codex, it makes mention of both male and female pilots, without insinuating that either gender was particularly exceptional or uncommon in the role. I suspect that even if it hasn't been retconned, GW considers patriarchal knight households a cultural thing decided by each world, as opposed to being a commonality between knight households.

This video made me wonder if Warhammer is just the miniature wargame? I had this on while I was cooking, and that thought popped in my head because you don't necessarily need lore this deep to play a game with miniatures or a given computer game. It adds to the games and justifies things that change with the models they sell and all that. But it just hit me in this video that with all of this lore, it would be a shame if they didn't offer an RPG version. I don't know how the game is played. I just enjoy the lore. With such lore and the passion people have for said lore, characters, factions, etcetera. It seems like it is something that bleeds that area. Do people include narrative in their games?
Oh they absolutely have RPGs ! A Whole bunch of them! there's rogue trader where you play as rogue traders, only war where you play as guardsmen, black crusade where you get to be chaos space Marines, dark heresy where you play as inquisitors, and wrath and glory, which is the most recent one and I think it lets you play a little bit of everything, but I haven't personally checked it out yet. Warhammer may have started as a tabletop miniatures game, but it has spiraled into an absolutely massive franchise. There are reportedly around 600 novels that have been published by the black library which is game's workshops in-house publisher. There are dozens of video games, audio dramas, animated shows on their streaming service, spin-off games like necromanda, imperialis, gothic, etc etc It's absolutely enormous. And with Henry cavill's new TV show that he's working on with Amazon, if that is well received, Warhammer is primed to reach an entirely new audience and get even bigger in the next couple of years.
@weshammer I knew most of that, but nothing about the RPG. It seemed like a huge waste if they didn't. I had no idea about audio dramas, animated shows, or a streaming service.

There are dozens of video games, audio dramas, animated shows on their streaming service, spin-off games like necromanda, imperialis, gothic, etc etc
It's absolutely enormous.
Wonderful Wes and exactly what I fell in love with when you started. The sisters soroitas was one of my favorites I’ve ever listened to about warhammer 40k. Deep dives into legion campaigns would be sweet
This was everything I hoped it would be. Excellent, excellent video!
Its weird that woodchipping equipment need such a procedure to be operated...
Remember, only *most* arrows bounced off of knights' armour. *cough* BODKIN *cough*
With how Knight Worlds are described, I’d imagine they look a lot like the setting of Nimona.
Imperial Knight: Tells all of its titles while epic music plays
Ork: "yawns"....*U WOT??*
I've been building a Hawkshroud army. They're lore makes them easy to integrate into a mixed army.
MOM GET THE CAMERA, IT HAPPENED AGAIN!
Perfect timing brother!!! Joytoy is about to release Imperial Knight figures so the hype is on. 🤘🤘
Feminist side shave is a red flag.
20:41 you know that hurt Wes in the rewatch
