    I was lucky to come across a little red octahedral spinel that fluoresces beautifully and it didn’t break the bank. Love this stone and how high on the mohs it sits. Great vid and lovely eye candy for people like me who can’t afford the gemmy faceted type!

    I was all excited when your segment was on spinels! I purchased an Art Deco ring with channel set green spinels last week, and anxiously waited for you to share some you had. Alas, I saw only one at the beginning in a still. I was so sad!

    Excellent explanation. I have started to collect rough and cut&polished spinel in Sri Lanka. So, I will be more motivated to find quality spinels and do business in Sri Lanka. And also Expecting to find good buyers from all around.

    I consider Spinels to be in the top tiers of gemstone with diamonds emeralds rubies and sapphires actually...when the most famous ruby in the world (black prince) turns out to be actually a Spinel - you know they're fit for royalty.....best secret gemstone ever

    Thankyou - excellent clear explanations. Does the black get misidentified in vintage jewelry. It seems like there are so many black stones and beads and cabochons. I always love the story of the red spinel in UK Crown Jewels was always thought to be a ruby. ❤💎😳

    • @DominiqueFlux
      @DominiqueFlux  7 месяцев назад

      Yes it's common in heritage jewels that they thought they were rubies! So cool.
      I'm not sure, they might, it xould also be Schorl

    Spinel is a great gem and it really felt like that secret stone with excellent physical properties that no one knew about. It's a bit sad that as it's becoming more popular it's also getting more expensive. I would love to put my hands on a nice jedi spinel one day, but with this pricing I probably won't 🙄

    • @jhowardsupporter
      @jhowardsupporter 5 месяцев назад

      There is probably man made Jedi Spinel. As a scientist I know people got tricked into thinking natural is better than man made which is crazy because people hate nature but now all of a sudden they want the natural stones.

    What about a ruby getting fauceted with a 10 diamond cutter? Will you please do a video on rubies and polish lines depending on the polish tool being used compared to curved striae lines please.

    I don't know why you say a budget under 6k to not look for this? I've found many beautifully faceted, unheated natural stones for under half of that number. The trick is to find dealers who specifically deal with natural gemstones, not a basic jewelry store. The sizes have all ranges.

    • @DominiqueFlux
      @DominiqueFlux  7 месяцев назад +4

      No no, sorry I think you misunderstood, we were talking about rubies. We were explaining that to find rubies of nice clarity (for engagement rings) you should have a budget of 6k+. That's why we were showing red spinels as a great alternative!
