I must say:the Instant Kills are still mesmerizing to view to this day. It's a real shame Strive had some cutbacks despite it being a graphical improvement towards it predecessor. Xrd has more vision and style overall. Strive leaves the aesthetic impression on it's audience and chooses to be less ambitious with it's presentation.
Correct. Imo Xrd has so much personality, Strive just feels a bit dull
@@Ricardo-fm5wt yeah, I know, right...
...? Gyro! Is that you?! Damn, good to see you! Can't wait for Part 6! I wanna see that Gyro Spin of yours so bad💪
I'd wager that we might have had a different end product had Happy Corona not terrorized the world by storm. We did sit through a few delays after all.
There must have been something better to replace Faust kancho cuz the wheel chair hitting on the shin just doesn't cut it really they should have kept the kancho.
honestly I prefer Xrd Rev2 overal looks and charachter designs more. Strive looks more sterile IMO.
like the next game, DNF DUEL. those game have Xrd character style and they look great
Top notch animation
I got Rev 2 because it really interested me and it was on a mega sale awhile back for 6 dollars! After putting in about 200ish hours this game is in my favorite fighting games hall of fame, all of the characters are unique and well designed. This game also taught me techniques that I never even heard of before, and the music is top notch. Strive is okay for me personally, I’m not a fan of the new designs for the most part, (besides maybe May and Ky) I’m also not a fan of the realistic art style, I feel like they went too bold with it and I think they realized that later on considering the fact that their later games use a similar style to XRD.
both are solid design
it's just a matter of preference
I liked May's XRD model more... But i really like what they did to her hair in this game.
Also, there's this bizarre looking filter in Strive that makes XRD looks more lively in comparison.
God, i miss the insta kills
(Not saying that its worse just because it don't have them, but i really liked them.)
yeah strive is more pretty with more detail but less lively even with more frames. i like the face and hair of may in strive, but ram was much prettier to me in Xrd (aside the outfit, the face too, in strive they tried too much to cutize her when in Xrd was perfect)
Her hair? Wdym?
@@tobasaful she has a different hair design in both games.
In XRD looks like she have something holding her hair, in strive her entire hair is down.
You can notice by looking at her XRD model from the front in her battle intro.
It's like she was younger? I don't know...
@@Anemonemonemona the back of her old hat has a hole for a ponytail
9:16 That is perfect
Still can't believe anime graphics (the real thing) are present in games like these now. It used to be only seen from movies and the likes but seeing them happening in real-time is ecstatic.
I love how strive, a slower game makes all their overdrives look wayy faster by comparison and there just overall better, like no competition
Tell that to soul. You can barely see his transformation in strive. And i like the way in xrd he stands still after transfirming before the overdrive actually starts, makes him look like a boss.
@@shirothegamer7574 just sol. I agree on that part. but everything else, strive
@@shirothegamer7574 not a fair comparison, dragon install is a super in strive, but an instant kill in Xrd
@@valentds DI is a full transformation, not an IK. They just transformed before IK for continuity with strive’s DI super event. You can super with DI in Xrd too.
if theres one thing i especially dislike in strive its the huge difference from "gameplay" to "cutscene". The characters look completely different sometimes.
I’ve never seen Millia do that in Strive. Is it a taunt or an idle?
I think its a respect
I forgot how dorky high pony Ky was, his glow up is astounding
I forgot how much hair Leo had lol
Hey until then it was probably his best fit
@@bruced09 idk I didn't like the long hair on Ky, I thought his XX look was his best.
@@synysterpain That’s fair!
Dorky? Ky looks better in Xrd than strive lol
I thought Faust was a creppy doctor guy. But after seeing his moves in the older games i am out of words
xrd looks more like a stylized Trigger anime, meanwhile Strive is more like a high-quality slighty more realistic anime akin to Violet Evergarden or Fate/Zero.
I remember an interview that confirms it's pretty much intentional, they got more inspiration from live-action movies for Strive and the vibe reflects a bit of that.
Have y’all seen the episode movie in the game Strive , is pretty neat , I wonder if there’s going to be more story , I enjoyed the episodes , I watch it all in a morning till afternoon .Happy Chaos.
I just finished the story yesterday, it was really good. Though it made me wonder where they could possibly go next
I think the DLC roadmap mentioned something about that.
Alright, I somehow didn't realize this is the end of the series, or at least Sol's story.
I want to watch it but Strive is my first Guilty gear game so I wouldn't understand the story. Does anyone know how I can get caught up so I can understand everything?
@@chadrone8552 Look up Heaven or Hell by WoolieVS. Explains everything up to Strive.
Strive Faust: looks like he came out of a horror comic, hits people's shins with a wheelchair at full power
Xrd Faust: looks like he came out of a weird comedy cartoon, "guess where the angel is or get a free prostate exam"
I prefer Potemkin's Xrd version since it gives a better close up at the opponent's face and their realization that "This is gonna hurt"
Who would know to just add a pair of black bar on top and bottom the screen will make it so much better.
Pls it's a joke, The strive overrides are the most beautiful Animations I've ever seen, but I think the camera movements and black bars have some work on building that movie feels
I prefer May's hair from Strive but I like her model from Xrd
Chipp's taunt is interesting in Strive. It looks like it makes him airborne? Imagine reading someone so hard you dodge a super by taunting lol.
It avoids anything below him, it's great
Using chipp's invisibility taunt in a match is so unpredictable because if he does another taunt rather than being invisible you are vulnerable to every forms of attacks but if you're lucky and perfectly execute the invisibility taunt, you can continue attacking your opponent by doing HS. This is an extremely high risk high reward thing to do ngl lmfao.
Besides the OST, the thing that I like the most is that every character seems different. Most of the anime fighting games all the characters look and feel the same, not to mention the Dragonball game where half of the fighters are Goku with different hair
Look? Yeah
But every Goku is dbfz plays differently, even the most alike ones like base-ss-ssb
To me this confirms that Xrd is still beautiful
I feel like Rev 2 Has better OG sound tracks to listen to while fighting, more mobility and I miss instakill ,Destroyed finish is something I’ll miss
im still think Strive have better soundtrack but the problems with vocal track is its getting boring real fast
Wish there were a dynamic soundtrack sytem like DMC , vocal only play when you achieved high combo count
@@beaver_eater2447 That sound like a very bad idea for and fighting game it's a 2 player game people can burst out combos
I mean Strive was always planned to be more neutral based, therefore slower. But yeah I mostly agree too, the soundtrack although great, is very hit or miss, and IKs were always dope
@@beaver_eater2447 you mean in DMC 5. That feature was only in DMC 5 it's predecessors didn't do that. The full song would just play out.
@@beaver_eater2447 dude so you not know about jukebox mode?
man, calvados look SO much better in Xrd. just look at her pose in each
the chad embrace vs the virgin resist
Looking the concept alone, it's not that obvious to notice Potemkin changes, but in play... DAAAANNNGG
Xrd looks that he was compressed to fit a box, like those chubby GBC sprites
I kinda prefer Xrd character designs overall. Wish the game didn't look low res tho.
The hell happened to Faust?
The characters that you haven't seen will come back to their seats, right?
Guilty Gear, all the early characters.
8:36 oh that explains all of the squatting Fraust does
I like the characters were they emote first before doing the ysuper skill
9:15 As a Walking Nightmare Fuel, that was Cute and Sad at the same time.
Heavenly potemkin has the biggest improvement
Yeah I was really confused on the line of action in Xrd, like did he do a flip or the camera just spin around, but in StrIVe he simply just rocket boosts you to heaven and pile drives you, it's more clear and impactful
Prefiro o Guilty Gear XRD, muito mais animação, o do Guilty Gear Strive é tão simples e menos emocionante nos especiais. O Guilty Gear XRD tem animações de tirar o fôlego.
Well title say "overdrive" but you show "instakill" too and in new game there is no instakill, so I think it may good to compare with just "old overdrive" with "new overdrive"
Faust was and is still the best character to this day. Which other fighting character has a super which is litterely mixing cups and punishing the enemy with anal stretching
I just miss May's pogo stick taunt
Guess I'm the only one that noticed Potempkin has the same idle in Xrd and X2/Accent Core
I wish I was into FGs sooner. I really missed out on XRD 😞
Well you missed horrible net play at least
Xrd is still great and I can’t reccomend Rev2 enough. The netplay was always rough and stilted, but if you can I’d still reccomend picking it up even for offline or local play. The gameplay is fast and energetic and the roster is really varied as well.
@@martmine4618 well well...
Is it normal to think Xrd is more beatiful than Strive?
May has a more suiting look in xrd
Nah, I'm glad we are past the Sakura syndrome and she actually looks older now.
Xrd Potemkin looks like he's waiting for his turn on the Xbox when compared to Strives Potemkin.
The glow up is crazy
6:05
OmG Dio?! Takasugi?! Shingo?! Is that you?!
No but seriously I think zato is neat character
Ever since his debut
Plus his badass themes
Damn, Chipp is really big change, looks so much better in strive
Strive looks better, but that's it.
Xrd is more fun in many ways.
I have noticed since Anji Mito was X and XX Accent Core Plus was there and since absent in XRD And I think Anji Gonna Compare From X/XX Accent Core Plus to Strive I hope will make as missing returning era.
Im sad they removed the stimulating fist move i would have loved to see the new girl get it
They probably want to make strive more pg
I prefer the xrd version for design and ultimate
Faust in Xrd: Goofy funny haha
Faust in Strive: "Emotional damage"
Why do i have a feeling that I'm gonna cry everytime i see faust's flower taunt...?
Some super in Strive feel so weak compare to Xrd , maybe because of speed and camera angle . But animation and movement , Strive look better than Xrd .
And those supers would be...?
Complete opposite for me. Both of chipp's supers, Zato's big eddie shark, and even the potemkin Aegis reflector have had substantial improvements. Ride the lightning especially has way more oomph in Strive than Xrd
so weak? you mean slower, but with bigger impact, look at the explosion of sol
It shocks me how both Millia and May look older in Strive.
6:06 Dio energy
Strive looks so different from xrd and I'm still debating on if I like it or not
Waited the whole video for Yamamada-san:)
All of them look sick...
I kinda prefer how xrd looks compared to strive tbh, the look is simpler and characters pop out of the environment more. The shading on strive is too complex for my taste
Why does I-no's face look so different in Rev 2? She looks like a cute anime girl, but in strive she looks completely different.
She's done being cute.
she figured out what a bra was for and decided to scrap her old look entirely
画質がまじ綺麗だね
Strive animation makes it hard to believe there was a point when everyone called Xrd animation extremely innovative
Arc systems can't stop improving
Fir me the cleaner the animation the more boring to lok at. I love it when there are minor imperfections in character animation, it adds more personality. That's why people still play games like samurai shodown 2 and mk3.
@@shirothegamer7574 to me, imperfections are merely imperfections that the creators obviously don't mean for them to look exactly like that (which is why I think they actually do lack personality). seeing the perfected forms in their beauty, as how the developers wish for them to really be, is the one I pay more attention to
Ngl, Strive looks better than Xrd, but I prefer Xrd's look as its much more cleaner with non intrusive/excessive VFX like the hit sparks, Particles and no Motion blur
Also the UI is better in Xrd. I know we all agree on that
Hmmmm. No
@@thisninja11 are you really going to say the ui is better in strive?
@@legoblozz idk man this is my first GG
Hope the next iteration improves Strive's bland ass, basic UI devoid of rock/metal aesthetics
I find the Strive's UI more pleasant to look tbh
Xrd aged really well visually… I’m thinking no other stylized 3d game will ever top Strive in a very long time. And it’ll probably be beat by another game from ArcSys.
i mean they still using it to this day like with dbfz, granblue vs and dnf duel
@@thanghoangsong6138 Yea none of them look better than Strive.
I'm amazed at how Strive Potemkin makes Xrd Potemkin look *small*
