Nah, he was pretty chill with Chronus. He just got annoyed at what he saw as needless dishonesty. He only really loses it near Zato-1. Even during the arcade fights, Faust snarls, "DIE!" at him. After performing his "This is Me?" instant kill, he remarks, "You haven't suffered enough" instead of his usual chipper requests to see the patient in a week or tells them that no insurance is necessary.
Looking back, what happened to Faust in Strive was a pretty logical way to continue his progression. He has been spending ages doing whatever he can to atone for his past. Effectively sacrificing himself to save someone who was similar to his lost patient is almost like a extreme finale for that arc. Especially since it lets us see that even when Faust becomes a husk of a person, he still tries to care for others. Next game he'll probably go through some form of recovery, but I feel like him saving Delilah was kind of the perfect way for him to finally prove that he's changed. Destroy himself to save another.
It's more of the opposite, actually. Ramlethal's words made him think about not just sacrificing himself in sake of others, but also to let himself be... alive rather than just a disposable tool to save other people. In Rev 2 he went trying to save the antimatter Gear even if that costed his life not only to help them, more of a form of pseudoaltruism (basically doing something apparently altruistic but with certain intention behind; in this case, trying to atone what he has done in the past), just as in Another Story he was willing to die to save Delilah. However, Ramlethal said "Do you wish to save that girl? Or to die a hero?", which basically translates to "Save her not because you feel the need of saving that girl once again and then continue hating on yourself because of your past, trying to separate who you once were, but do this because of who you truly are and what you truly care about." But yeah, 100% agree on everything else you wrote.
In XX, he cures Zappa, which might've caused the spirits to inhabit Faust instead which is why he's so spooky. However Xrd retconned that, but who knows if the Strive lore retcons the Xrd lore.
My personal theory is that he for some reason was killed and Cronus used Faust's own resurrection surgery to resurrect him (as they kinda became friends in the end of Xrd Rev and he owes Faust for making him go insane at first). But just like Zato-1 the resurrection isn't perfect but instead of losing his emotions Faust lost his sanity once more.
