Its hard to explain but there is something symbolic about Jackie saying "Having My Brother-in-law arrested" Jackie not using Dan's name. Also when Dan said to roseanne "This is about me its not about anybody else lets leave it at that" when he is about to be arrested. Showing that despite their differences and being a thorn in each other's side they both loved one another.
@quarf53206: My own story of the use of the words 'brother-in-law: My twin sister had worked with a man for five years. They were just simply friends. She was in a somewhat abusive relationship during that time. She was finally done with the abusive guy and word got back to her co-worker that she was single and available. My sister intentionally caused the word to be spread, hoping that her co-worker would maybe ask her out. It worked! They went on their first date on May 11th, 2012 and they were married on September 1st, 2012 (do the math, not very long)! Not long after they were married, my husband and I was over there visiting and we got a pool game going, where we were in teams. My sister and husband were on a team. My brother-in-law and I was a team. He made an excellent shot during his turn and instead of a compliment using his name, I replied "Great shot Brother-in-Law!...I won't ever forget him stopping, looking at me & telling me, that those simple words meant so much to him! I get what you're saying about hard to explain, that Jackie telling Fisher he got her BIL arrested instead of using Dan's name was symbolic....it somehow, simply...means 'more'.
@Briana u know good and well nice guys finish last.. Jackie was a wack job who 9x out if 10 chose losers.. heck women like her are a dime a dozen, sure fisher was a slime ball but Jackie chose them left n right..
The part where Dan ask if Jackie if she’s ok and then pretty much sneaks out to go beat the shit out fisher…is just fucking awesome Dan awesome on this show anyways lol
I just found out that the actors that played Fisher and Jackie actually dated in real life and have kids. Weird to think they played an abusive relationship.
@@ThePAULAMICHELLE Yes, they met on the Roseanne show, became friends, Laurie got pregnant, they got married. Then they had a little girl that they named Zoey, who is also now an actress, like her mom! I believe Matt and Laurie divorced, many years later.
Jackie: You're right. Roseanne: God, do you know how much time we could save if you just keep that in your head as a given? I use that line on my husband often.
"I consider myself a pretty good judge of people that's why I don't like none of 'em." Roseanne wins the insult war AGAIN :D :D :D :D
"And I really hope that you get your life together. But if you don't, I hope the next brother-in-law kills ya". I love that line. ((Roseanne)).
Seeing how much Dan messed up his face is always a pleasure.
Was this shown in the episode?
Interesting how shows like this tackled realistic, uncomfortable issues.
Henrybuch0ltz 12345345henry yes happy to help me with the family of you guys that
OMG, i forgot about these. The episodes where Fisher beats up Jackie was the most eye opening craziest episode ever.
Roseanne's restaurant line was chilling. Loved it
Roseanne was so fkn sarcastic and its what made the show. Roseanne is funny
Roseanne I remember her. Since I was A child 🚸 watching it with my mum years ago.
"You know I consider myself a pretty good judge of people and that's why I dont like none of them." 🤣🤣
I concur with Roseanne.
My mom told me from a young age that if a man hit me even one time to walk away. I have kept that in mind throughout my life.
But women can’t hit men, either.
@@travisjames3517 I agree with that. That aligned with my being taught not to hit anyone.
hopefully your dad said the same thing~ Helps reinforce.
has it ever happened?
@@themadmallard He absolutely did. 👍🏻

Matt Roth (Fisher) Laurie Metcalf (Jackie) were actually MARRIED IRL from 1993-2014
How ironic. Was he violent in the marriage?

Jackie's non-verbals when Roseanne figures out this had happened before...
