Ive been watching your videos all year trying to pick up tips! Ive raced in the lightweight class slowly getting better! Managed to transition from being around 5 seconds a lap slower than pretty much everyone to having close racing in the middle of C finals!

To me it looks like the Gopro is just augmenting the shutter speed. It is not changing the frames per seconds but just opening the sensor for a longer time like if it was a slower fps but it is not. At least it should not be if you set it to 60fps.
All that talk of any race driver defending on the final lap sure is ironic coming from Albon, of all people.

What you were counting - The total number of frames the GoPro would be able to capture on the following race.

Nov 9 was my last race. 15 years of it and it's over. Gonna do 1 practice in 2020 and that's it😞. Had tons of fun and met tons of great people! Did 3.5 seasons as a track marshall . Lap 1 of a club race was never boring! Have seen my fair share of incidents! Flying a kart not bad until gravity takes over. My back was a mess for 6 months. Was racing in 2 series and never missed a race! That's advantage to Canadian winter we have a 5 month break. Mosport was my home track. People kept telling me to go. " No it's to far" 10 years and 50 thousand km later!! 🏁

Last Sunday i was at a indoor karting track and the Guy in front of me crashes at a flat-out corner. His rear came up and his kart hit my hand and collar bone..broke em both. But the weird thing is is that i cant Wait to jump into the kart again

The nighttime GoPro video looks like that because of the shutter speed(motion blur), not the frame rate.

Even though the frame rate definitely drops at low light, it's the struggling Hypersmooth that causes the stuttering. You should consider using a 3rd party app (Reelsteady) to smoothen the footage, that works better from my experience.

To me it looks just to be the shutter speed that gets above 180° (which it should be at for normal video look) and maybe close to 360°.
This means that the sensor is capturing light almost all of the time instead of just half of the time.
If you set the Gopro to 60fps, the video file should be 60fps.

I just thrash my local circuit in my CRG.. Going this weekend.. Those club 100 karts look tame on video. But I run Stretton which is bumpy and violent. That track looks heaven.

I like all your videos. Just one thing: Why keep referring to yourself as "we" or "us". Why not "I" or "Me"? Like many, you've adopted the F1 habit among drivers as quoting "we" when you mean "I". It might appear a small point but there is an undiscussed false or artificial modesty here. YOU came second in the championship and YOU have become a fast racer. You don't have a team and you are responsible for what you have achieved. So your achievements are "I" and "Me".
5:03 *Bitrate FPS is fine its the bitrate that drops due to lack of light or lots of particles like the new assetto corsa shader patch.... its makes everything blocky.
It's not a game tho.
What happens if I am not mistaken (I film with cameras often ;) ) is that the shutter speed gets closer to 360°. It should be closer to 180° for a normal video look.
Having closer to 360° shutter speed means that the sensor is capturing light almost the whole frame instead of half of the time until the next frame. This makes big trails of light and less precision in the image when there is movement.
When will the first one of 2020 be?

Im a racer myself i do dirt karting and about trying to pass and you gotta try that is all true but a big key in racing is consistency and sometimes say you are in second place and on your last lap unless there is a clear pass sometimes its best to just hold your position instead of making a mistake and getting a DNF, but that's just what i think. great vid keep up the awesome racing.
I might do club 100 juniors next year any tips when it comes to two stroke racing and the karts?
Daniel Watson I drive IAME cadets and the fastest way to drive a 2-stroke is keep the revs up. As soon as you roll and aren’t on throttle you have ruined your lap. So let’s so for a hairpin you would slam the breaks on late (might be a slide) and hold the brakes until mid apex and then feather in the juniors and seniors because of the wheel spin. 👍

great races man! love the buckmore circuit. btw it’s the shutter speed that changes not the fps 😅 a lower shutter lets in more light but makes things appear more blurry, hence the longer ‘motion blur’ on everything once it becomes night. but you’re still shooting at 60/30/24fps etc...
I didnt think a go pro has a shutter...
MadmanJnr shutter speed isn’t a physical thing in modern cameras, it’s how quickly the frame refreshes itself every second... for example 48 times for 24fps, 120 times for 60fps etc... i’m a cinematographer myself so knowing all this stuff is part of the trade haha.
MadmanJnr what’s happening here is as the gopro loses light it drops is shutter from 1/120 to 1/100 then 1/60 then 1/50 possibly down to 1/30 which means each image is on screen for longer, causing the lights to leave ‘trials’ and the road etc... too have more motion blur

You need K+ Shaders Patch. Latest version drops FPS too much so use version before last. Open config.ini and change "NightMode=BiQ" and "SpeedMode=Ram".
Next season he should get a GoPro look at back for us to see a rear view/proximity view

You should to a video on your sim rig and explain your settings. I was previously using t150 pro but I just bought a t300 Ferrari Alcantara edition with T3PA pro peddles and I'm still having trouble finding a good ffb and sensitivity setting. We'd like to see what yours are and what it was before
There's a running joke with 2nd place in racing, especially between friends... and I'm certain Super GT knows it. Not gonna share it as people would be butthurt :) He can if he feels like it.
Would you consider kart race next year in the U.S.? I don't recall you doing so, and a lot of U.S. fans would prolly love to see you kart/ race against you.

The reason the GoPro (or any camera for that matter) slows down at night is because you need light to get a clear picture. Seems logical. The camera is trying to compensate for low light by taking longer per frame to gather more light. In a still picture, that's no issue. In moving pictures, that can create a big issue. A $400 GoPro isn't going to have the same processing power as a $10000 camera used in television broadcasts, so the quality and frame rate go down.

If u were 1-4-1, the only better combo can be 2-1-2 and you can’t make another combo that would make a better average, so how come you have started third?
The best karting I've done is at an indoor track with electric karts. They were pretty fast and quick to respond. Is karting in general going to go full electric you think? Maybe even with some energy recovery in the braking.
