I'm a Ford guy, but I have to hand it to Dodge...they are making some absolute killer cars. This is how you keep a sedan alive. Ford couldn't do it with the Marauder. GM Couldn't do it with the GTO/G8/SS. Hats off to Dodge!
*I'm glad you keep it real and I'm glad you said "enjoy this sound while you can". People hate on dodge but let's not forget who is the only American car company on the reliable list on consumer reports (#8) actually and the only american brand doing stupid powerful, and loud, v8s in a sedan!*
@@amgdiablo There is no separate company for Italy and the US. It is one company. All FCA cars made are Italian. Fiat bought Chrysler and their quality went to 💩💩💩. I loved the older Dodge and Plymouth muscle but this new stuff is 💩.
Probably one of the best reviews I've seen. Awesome video. Was professional, didn't seem scripted, love the comparison to other vehicles, the stories and can see that you know what you are talking about. My v6 charger is supercharged but that is one thing you can't mimic, that true V8 Gurgle!
I have a Kia Stinger and the Scatpack was the car that I cross shopped against. Two years later I want to go back to a V8. It will be an IS500 or Scatpack
Thanks for the review. As an old-school muscle car fan (my first car was a 1968 Mustang 289) I've been very impressed with what Dodge has done with the Charger and Challenger. Seems like the Scat Pack Widebody Charger is the sweet spot for both lots of fun and lots of practicality.
Great review. So many (including myself) get distracted by the German super sedans when beautiful beasts like this are available for a fraction of the cost.
The current Chargers and Challengers are true American muscle. I also like how SRT and Dodge have kept the interiors a perfect combination of simple and techy. Many vehicles currently on the market have too much technology and the interiors are more complicating. The 8 speed transmission is fast and smooth. The 2 Dodges are fun machines vs the track-oriented Camaro and the current Mustang and the Dodges' higher trims have original American muscle exteriors vs all the crazy stuff the other 2 have added. I've always been very disappointed Mercury didn't make the Marauder a powerful car. I've seen videos of Marauders equipped with superchargers that the owners decided to install in order to make it a faster more powerful car. The last beastly muscle car to be made before Chrysler introduced the current RWD platform and V8 engines was the mid 90s Impala SS.
Agreed. I owned a 1995 Impala SS with the LT1. Kept it 100% stock and drove it daily. Sadly after having the interior door panels turn purple, all of the power windows crap out, the driver door hinge replaced twice, and other parts that I can't remember atm, I traded it in for a 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback, made in Japan that still is driving today. BTW, the Impala had only 110,000 miles on her when I got tired of the shoddy build quality and defective parts. I still miss the car, as there is nothing like a V8 powered RWD American muscle car built on a full frame.
Stinger gt and Charger scat pack are in a league of their own.. The only two sedans on the market that offer a good amount of horsepower and are both reasonably affordable. If only more companies started to compete...
I live in south Texas, and the last thing I need on a car is a black hood, roof, and trunk. The engine will overheat, the cabin will get hot, and the frozen food will melt before I leave the grocery store parking lot. I’d get this in white with the tan interior, perfect!
Agree with the cross shopping. This is a car that I am considering against a 540i. And truthfully the charger seems to be winning in my mind. That fun factor is a big part of it.
that specific Dodge charger is the one that i can't resist to have for real .. everything about it is how i do like it to be .. not a fan of the black hood though. mine will be Black all the way maybe dark cooper wheels to break the darkness .. but man well done dodge
Real performance number from a scat owner 4.2-4.0 0-60 1/4 12-12.3 @ 117 mph. These numbers they present are terrible. I got better numbers with the trashy 245s mine came with
Stupid question but at 1:54 there is a tall silver screw that is screwed into the frame in between the dipstick and suspension hat, what is that screw for?
Out in the southwest you guys are much more lucky than you realize. In the Northeast a widebody would be useless almost 6 months out of the year. We have to go with the narrowbody with the all season tires to be able to make it through the winter‘s. And driving a 2020 scat pack Challenger in the winter does take some level of skill.
Spot on review and one of the best reviews. I own a 2020 Scat Charger and he Talks about the car that matches my experience with it. Suspension/chassis feedback gives you your limits when you push the car and that inspires confidence.
Thanks for rocking the KEXP shirt! Listener-supported, non-commercial music station, which plays a huge variety of music. Great job with the review as well.
American motor, mated to a German transmission, with Italians running the show, equals automotive perfection. I agree that Ford & Chevy have made some leaps & bounds, producing their own products, but think how old the Chargers & Challengers are now & still competing..
I'm a German cars lover but let me tell you guys this car gives you whatever you want , and the sweet v8 sound But I love this car in Manuel transmission it'd be fun
As the owner of a 540i I can say that the BMW is comparable in speed, superior in refinement but lacks in the rugged good looks and SOUND. Also one big bummer with the BMW is the cost of maintenance, my 2018 540i with 80k miles has been an extremely reliable car but the cost of everything is double what a normal car would cost; brakes $2,200+ for example.
I’ve seen a lot of reviews for the Scat Pack Charger and this is the best. It reminds me of the reviews MotorTrend used to create before they put everything behind a paywall. My 2022 Dodge Charger Scat Pack arrives in a few months. 😊
Congratulations brother. Long love the dodge. The smile per mile is amazing. I love my HC WB and have no regrets. I’ve owned Corvettes Z and Porsche 911s and non out that smile like the Dodge.
Dodge is killing it. Their Scat Pack wide body is dreamy. If they could only update the inside with better quality materials it would be really good. But I'll probably get one anyway.
I love this car Sir , I been in love with the chargers since the original was created but this new style is my Dream car to obtain . God willing one day I’ll have my own.
Can you imagine this car with a Tremec 6spd manual. I'm not into this size of car but it's gorgeous in the wide body and a good colour. That hemi is music to my ears.
My comment is..late as I just found/watched this video. That said, I own one. I totally agree with all the reviewers comments except one. The throttle response is..perfect set in..track mode. In track mode, its linear, aggressive and completely controllable. Use the custom drive mode, set the transmission in "track mode". Drive the car. Auto mode is.terribly lethargic but comparison. Sport mode better but still. ..sleepy. Keep the transmission in track mode for anything but long highway trips (locks out 8th gear) and the scat drives like it..should. Completely managable, tossable and whatever you ask, it delivers. Did I mention garage burnouts..parking? No line lock..throttle control.
Hemi engines are great. I currently have a 2018 300s V8 very nice car but too quiet. So, I changed the exhaust for a MOPAR and put an Cold Air Intake too. Sounds way better. I also have a 2020 C8, great car, super fast and I may sell it to make some $$$$
The only thing I don't like is the interior, especially for the price. I just hope when the new one comes out that it still has this 6.4 V8. Besides that it would be my next vehicle.

Catholic Firefighter there’s an awd charger option. It costs less than your Kia.
Now THIS..THIS is how you market! lol
@Catholic Firefighter I guess "smart" is paying $50k for a pice of Korean junk that will break under 50k miles.
