Best theory: after stopping Chronos in The once and Future things they saved the present possibly altering the past specifically the origins of a few heroes, I call this timeline the Post Chronos timeline where we would have been able to have gotten other heroes, as well as reset their origin stories, in this timeline maybe the flash who raced superman was Barry Allen and the Green Lantern who got the Ring from Abin Surr was Hal Jordan, giving Kyle Rayner not only his original comic origin but also his classic GL uniform, maybe in this timeline there was already a team of heroes specifically The Seven Soldiers of Victory (or Five Soldiers of Victory since Speedy and Green Arrow weren't a part of the team) and Justice Society of America which could explain Jay Garrick's museum cameo, and Alan Scott's appearance in the comics, they probably weren't a part of the league because they retired leaving Dr Fate, Dr Midnight, (probably) HawkMan, (Hopefully) The Sandman, WildCat, Atom Smasher, Hour Man, The Vigilante, StarGirl, Stripe, Stinging Knight, Crimson Avenger, Citizen Steel, and Thunderbolt doing the rest of the work

There was a children's book I had when I was a kid back in the 90s that showed Wally West take up the mantle after Barry died. Same art style and everything. Maybe it was Barry in STAS, but he died not long after their partnership, and that's when Wally took over.
Awesome, it was on our radar but we don’t have a copy yet. Will check it out! We’re doing a video on Barry Allen in the DCAU to coincide with the Flash movie!
@Watchtower Database that's great! I'll look forward to watching it! I can't remember all of what happens in The True Story of The Flash. It would be amazing if you could do a "storytime" reading of it. I'd love to see that. Again, it is 100% a children's book, so that will probably feel silly, but it'd be awesome nonetheless.
Quite possible I can. I’ve done tons of comic book read-through livestreams where I read an issue and then take extensive canon/timeline notes on it! You can check out earlier streams of those on our Podtower channel. :)
I suppose. But could be it be that "Kid Flash" is actually Wally who turned into the flash we know now ? Does the writer specifically state that the "Flash and Kid Flash" is simply "Wally and some rando"?
How about doing a video on how old is Superman in Superman: The Animated Series or how old is Volcana by the time we first see her in the episode "Where There's Smoke" ?
Thank you for this video. I have seen some debates about this over the years, and from my viewing experience, the notes from the people behind the show, and the evidence you gave; I'm inclined to believe that Wally West was the only Flash in the DCAU. Nobody references any kind of legacy, nor shows any knowledge about any other Flash beyond Wally. Also, with the way Wally acts in Speed Demons and Justice League, he just doesn't seem like someone who ever had a mentor. One might bring up those other costumes in Flash and Substance, but for all we know they were initial costumes Flash had before settling on his iconic scarlet one. What was done to Wally West in the DCAU is the same thing that was done to the DCAU versions of Tim Drake and Kyle Rayner. All these characters were amalgamized with their predecessors to make a more easily digestible story for the audience. Also, I found an interesting thread on the DC animated forums that you might want to read. Here is the link: https : / / animesuperhero . com / forums / threads / the-lack-of-barry-allen-in-the-dcau . 5028871 / page-2 Here are some questions that a fan asked that were answered by Dwayne McDuffie that another fan reposted. JTMarsh said: Do you think it was just too difficult to put a little time travel story aside to let Barry have 15-20 minutes in the spotlight to show the differences between himself & his nephew/successor Wally West, or mayhap Bruce Timm and his colleagues just weren't all that interested in Barry, since just about everyone dismisses him as "the boring Flash" (except Alex Ross and apparently Geoff Johns as well). Or was this another one of those copyright issues, like the kind that eventually ruled out Aquaman, Batman's various rogues & extended allies, and the classic JSA characters, including of course the original Flash, Jay Garrick (look for his helmet in the Flash museum in 'Flash & Substance'). Or was there fear that such a storyline would simply put too much emphasis on the Flash and his supporting characters & predecessors? Dwayne McDuffie said: Oh, I can't answer those, because we never decided. Canon is what actually happens, or is referred to directly on screen, not what some guy who used to work on the show thinks. We can change our mind at any time, and write our way out of practically anything that was ever previously established, and *will* if we think it makes for a better story. QUESTION: Then doesn't that make Jay Garrick canon or at least a previous flash canon because his helmet was *on screen?* I don't see how you could have written that out. REPLY: *Many* ways. It's not Jay's helmet, it belongs to Hermes. It's from an old Wally Flash costume. It's a trophy from a completely unrelated adventure and has nothing to do with any Flash costume whatsoever, et cetera... The only reason you think it's Jay's is because you know about Jay. 95% of the audience have never heard of him, and don't care. If we wanted it to be Jays, it would be just as easy to bring into continuity, but we didn't say either way.
Another reason why it is Wally: DC Editorial had veto power when it came to character introductions in STAS, and they seemed to want to support what was current in the 90s in the comics. Like, DC said "no" when they wanted to make Supergirl Superman's cousin, because Superman was "The Last Son of Krypton", and there were no other Kryptonians around after John Byrne's revamp. So, they didn't really make her like the Matrix Supergirl (a protoplasmic entity from a parallel universe), but they had to come up with the idea of Argo being a different planet from Krypton. I'm pretty sure Timm and Dini wanted Hal Jordan, but DC said "no", and they made him into a Kyle Rayner... with Hal's origin. Aquaman in STAS may have looked like the silver age one, but his attitude was that from the surly King Arthur-like seen in the 90s. This makes me think that if Dini and Timm ever intended Flash to be Barry Allen, there's no way DC would've allow that.
I need a video about why General Zod wasn’t in Superman The Animated Series. Because i believe that he was in a few comic book tie ins as well as children’s books and toys. Would be awesome if you could look into if there is any reference to him (apart from Jax Ur and Mala) because i assume there has to be some sort of reference :)
If you want to dive into the Superman: The Animated Series cartoon, maybe a spotlight on Supergirl or other visiting Kryptonians in the series (this isn't Clark).
I've made it clear how much I love the specific character timeline stuff, so I'll say more Timeline Videos for Emil Hamilton, Perry White, Lex Luthor and Metallo. Why those four specifically?...I just like them. Yeah, it's that simple. However, if we were to ban character timelines from being suggested, I'd say that a tour through Lexcorp, its various connections and the people who work for it throughout the DCAU would be fun.
I like to think that DCAU Wally eventully married his Universe's Linda Park. Had Jai and Irey, lived a long and happy life because F*** you Heroes in Crisis!
There's also that while they had different voice actors, the Flash in Speed Demons acts pretty much the same as Wally in JL and JLU, without a shift or hint that these two may have been different people. It's hard to see Barry being a total flirt anyway.
I think they fused Wally West and Barry Allen. Since it is an alternate universe and I'm watching This is league brave and the bold and they showed his origin story yeah. My Assumption with Wayne mcduffie is that kid Flash is probably bart. But what if it was Barry? Crazy
I Love the new set! I think it would look a bit better if you put your camera lower and have it point at you straight on rather than looking down on you. Plus if you maybe get a new camera it would be better. But I still love your videos and I love the new set!
I like to think that Barry was the one to race Superman and Wally took over from kid flash to flash without informing the media, they think he’s the same as Barry. I think Jay is alive but Barry died. There’s a kid flash costume in the flash museum, I think that used to be Wally’s. And kid flash is probably Bart.
I'd like to think the even Crisis on Infinite earths occured and Barry died, so Wally took up the mantle and is now the Flash. I personally believe this series takes place before Infinite Crisis but just after Crisis on Infinite Earths.
I have a Theory: Wally West screwed up the Timeline with Speed Force in the Young Justice Season 2 Finale removing Barry Allen from the JLU universe, so he took it upon himself to become the Flash in this Universe while Barry Allen remains in The Young Justice Timeline.
I’d like to think it was Barry in Speed demons cuz of the voice actor change in justice league and cuz he’s Barry Allen in other media. Plus there’s a kid flash suit in a Justice league episode. Although it seems it is Wally.
@@tonyantonellis9983 don't doubt it. He's right. Barry was dead in the comics for like 15 years and wouldn't be resurrected until a good 8 or 9 years after Justice League premiered.
@@tonyantonellis9983 When he was seemingly killed by the Anti Monitor in Infinite Crisis, they claimed that he was instead sent away and got trapped in the speed force.
This might be a stretch and a bit of an overlap with the Justice Guild episodes of Justice League, but there was the episode "Unity" (if I recall correctly) that features Supergirl reading knock-off Marvel character comics. Maybe a Superman TAS video could go over existing fictional superheroes or comics with the DCAU? It might be hard to pull off, but the meta element might be worth looking into.
Is metamorpho the deadliest meta in the DC universe? He can become anything, turn his body into kryptonite, probably emulate the red sun, can kill batman by being a gaseous poison he can seep into batmans skin/lungs etc....
My head cannon is that Wally West Flash in Justice League is the Kid Flash from Young Justice, especially since in the Flash and Substance episode had a Kid Flash costume in one of the shots.
Like to think there secretly was a flash story happening during Superman TAS and Barry died sacrificing and Wally took the mantle and Kid Flash is either Bart Allen or Wallys cousin "Ace" West, though it being Ace is highly unlikely since the character wasn't created yet
Actually in the comics adaptation from the DCAU exists or existed Barry Allen as the second Flash (the first being Jay Garrick) and Wally West as kid Flash but something happened with Barry Allen, he disappeared or die time ago, and Wally toke the Mantle, also because in the DCAU comics exists Impulse as Bart Allen, the Grandson of Barry Allen. One one of make the difference was the mask, because Barry Allen mask had the eyes visible meanwhile Wally West Flash mask has white eyes that hide his real eyes, just like Batman. Barry Allen appears on Adventures of the DC universe #2.
I was boggled when I watched that one scene in Justice League where they revealed each others identities, and he was Wally West. I thought he was Barry Allen the whole time.
A video all about Hal has been on our radar for quite a while, but we'll probably wait until after a "Will It Canon?" episode on "Green Lantern: the Animated Series" just to be safe.
They show baby Kal-El playing with a white puppy on Krypton in the first episode of STAS. Also, Kal's son in "The Man Who Has Everything" has a puppy that is named Krypto. So, technically, yes, but we never get to see him in action.
Which canon experiences, events, successes and defeats in BTAS and STAS (Maybe Static too, for good measure) helped steer the future League away from becoming like the Lords? I posted about this in another video thread, but that was one amateur fanboy. The way you guys drill down, I think this could be something.
Hey can you do a video on Jax zur and mala and maybe tell us if Jax zur is dcau version of zod and mala is dcau version of Faora and why Bruce timm and company didn't use zod and Faora and if zod appeared in the dcau tie-in comics if possible?
I actually think what he meant by “Flash and Kid Flash” are Barry Allen and Wally West - Wally (initially Kid Flash) and Barry (Original Flash) being the first duo, and now Wally being the main Flash. That is why we don’t see Kid Flash in the show. The uniform was retired by Wally and put into the Flash museum when he became the normal Flash.
Hey guys, so this is a theory I’ve been thinking of for years, and I think y’all would be interested in and possibly do as a video. “Is the phantasm azrael?”
Yes, but the question was related to his appearance on the Superman cartoon. 😁 That being said, we have a much more detailed video now about whether Barry Allen is in the DCAU--go check it out!
my theory is that there is only flash wally west and that in the beginning he wore the kid flash costume in this universe and i think barry allen is just a normal person so i think jay garrick's thing was that the flash to earth 2 and i know jay garrick then he thought it was cool jay garrick's helmet decided to add it to the museum
Hi man, can you make a video about the existence of Jason Todd in the DCAU, because i remember there was an episode in the original Batman cartoon where before having an accident and being sent to Arkham for reabilitation, Batman mentioned the name of Jason and a bomb timer was heard in the background. I would apreciate very much if you could adress on that.
Either you’re misremembering or you heard wrong. “Jason” is not mentioned and there’s no bomb sound. It’s just Batman saying “Robin look out, Joker’s got a bomb!” Which may be a sly reference to Jason Todd’s comic history, but it also could mean absolutely nothing.
I feel so bad for missing this topic 😂😂 I think that it was like it in the Justice League mortal movie. Barry dies and then wally takes the helm and becomes the flash. Way before the justice league formed.

@@dcauwatchtower DC COMICS Story Book: The True Story of The Flash. Took me about 20 minutes to find it, but that's the one.
OH. YHA, IT IS THURSDAY thank Vanishing Point
"I have no idea who this is." - Lex
I mean Kyle Rayner is still Green Lantern, he just spends most of his time offscreen.
Idk, the writer said that the Flash and Kid Flash are the only ones that exist... then where does Jay Garrick fit in?
Here is the link:

Here are some questions that a fan asked that were answered by Dwayne McDuffie that another fan reposted.
JTMarsh said:
Do you think it was just too difficult to put a little time travel story aside to let Barry have 15-20 minutes in the spotlight to show the differences between himself & his nephew/successor Wally West, or mayhap Bruce Timm and his colleagues just weren't all that interested in Barry, since just about everyone dismisses him as "the boring Flash" (except Alex Ross and apparently Geoff Johns as well).
Dwayne McDuffie said:
Oh, I can't answer those, because we never decided.
I thought in the DCAU , Barry allen died after his sacrifice. Then thats how Wally replacement to him.
It would be awesome if you guys did an episode on Hal Jordan in DCAU!
I wanna know about Batman and Wonder Woman relationship in JLU! Was it just that kiss????? I mean... they flirted a lot
how funny is it that the dcau flash was voiced by smallville's lex luthor and then swapped bodies with the dcau lex luthor
I think they already did that.
DC wiki claims Barry Allen does exist in DCAU.
He only appeared in comics and died.
We’ll be doing a DCAU Barry Allen video pretty soon!
I would like to see a Brainiac Timeline video or how he kept returning in the universe.
If you want to dive into the Superman: The Animated Series cartoon, maybe a spotlight on Supergirl or other visiting Kryptonians in the series (this isn't Clark).
Lookin’ sharp today, Mattie!
It’s Wally. In Speed Demon Flash has Wally’s belt (Barry’s is a strait serrated line.)
I always headcanoned that the Flash in Superman the animated series is Barry but died off screen before Wally took the mantle in Justice League
I think they fused Wally West and Barry Allen. Since it is an alternate universe and I'm watching This is league brave and the bold and they showed his origin story yeah. My Assumption with Wayne mcduffie is that kid Flash is probably bart. But what if it was Barry? Crazy
The facts in this video upsetted alot of Barry Allen fans
Look out for our full DCAU Barry Allen video coming soon!
*laughter
Good to know now that its canonically Wally
We are overdue for a lot of Will it Canon videos. Just sayin'
I Love the new set! I think it would look a bit better if you put your camera lower and have it point at you straight on rather than looking down on you. Plus if you maybe get a new camera it would be better. But I still love your videos and I love the new set!
Love the red strings in the background
Bruh he’s literally Wally west he called himself that 😂
In the “Justice League” cartoon, yes. His secret identity is not revealed on the “Superman” cartoon.
The Flash is so fast, he can change his whole canon. Over..and over..and over...
0:33-0:34 why are the lightning bolts white and yellow? And not just yellow?
My guess is that’s just how the animation scan turned out and it’s supposed to be a very pale yellow. In darker shots they’re both yellow.
Diggin' the new set. Has that cozy, conspiracy theory/lack of sleep feel to it. Maybe Matt won't get bullied in the new set too (doubtful T_T).
Awesome video !
I'd like to think it's Barry. As much as it definitely isn't, it's still something cool to think about.
How Metallo got his skin back between "Action Figures" and "Heavy Metal". He mentions Intergang found him, but how'd they get his skin back?
I have a Theory: Wally West screwed up the Timeline with Speed Force in the Young Justice Season 2 Finale removing Barry Allen from the JLU universe, so he took it upon himself to become the Flash in this Universe while Barry Allen remains in The Young Justice Timeline.
Super informative!
I always thought that he was Wally in that episode.
I would love a video on Lobo, don't know what question to attach to it, I just know I would like it.
I’d like to think it was Barry in Speed demons cuz of the voice actor change in justice league and cuz he’s Barry Allen in other media. Plus there’s a kid flash suit in a Justice league episode. Although it seems it is Wally.
"Small tweaks of Aquaman". XD
Any vid on Aquaman is fine with me!
i wonder why they used Wally West as Flash instead of Barry Allen himself. The Justice league first happened while Wally was still kid flash
Probably because during those times Wally West was The Flash in the comics (I think).
@@voidlooksback I honestly doubt that
@@tonyantonellis9983 don't doubt it. He's right. Barry was dead in the comics for like 15 years and wouldn't be resurrected until a good 8 or 9 years after Justice League premiered.
@@maxalaintwo3578 how does Barry get resurrected
@@tonyantonellis9983 When he was seemingly killed by the Anti Monitor in Infinite Crisis, they claimed that he was instead sent away and got trapped in the speed force.
Here’s an idea how, strong is superman in the DCAU
*song plays* *head bangs* Me and Batman: Because its Thursday!
Touching on comic books within the DCAU has been on our list for a while!
Thought this was like a jehova witness channel at first was confused. Love this animated universe content glad i can obsess over it again.
Kinda funny, those guys. We'd always turn everything off and hide when they knocked at the door. Eventually they stopped coming. Ah memories...
If you get an early access to videos if you're a Patron, wouldn't that make it Trivia Mondays and 'because it's Wednesday'?
Check out our much more recent video on this subject!
When the justice league fights braniac/lex Wonder Woman and the rest of the league call out for Wally
Since you are doing a Superman animated series one I got a question, in the episode titled in Brightest Day where's Hal?
A video all about Hal has been on our radar for quite a while, but we'll probably wait until after a "Will It Canon?" episode on "Green Lantern: the Animated Series" just to be safe.
Here's a question- how did Skartaris get a giant chunk of kryptonite?
Here's one is bizarro the same clone throughout the DCEU or because he's a clone does he get replaced when he dies?
Is Krypto the superdog canon to the dcau
🤔
They show baby Kal-El playing with a white puppy on Krypton in the first episode of STAS. Also, Kal's son in "The Man Who Has Everything" has a puppy that is named Krypto. So, technically, yes, but we never get to see him in action.
he appears in the past, but he doesn't live to come to earth
Non-Ugandan Knuckles nah we know Bruce met ace in his elderly years
Which canon experiences, events, successes and defeats in BTAS and STAS (Maybe Static too, for good measure) helped steer the future League away from becoming like the Lords?
Barry actually wasn’t the Flash for 20 years in comics. He disappeared this is a timeline he didn’t exist.
Barry doesn’t exist as a hero in this universe, it’s as simple as that. Wally mentions an uncle once, but Barry was never the Flash.
We all know Bart is the only worthy of being kid flash
In one of the justice league episodes a blonde headed guy got struck by lightning in a lab during the Flash’s flashback.
Nope, that was Wally, and his hair was red.
Watchtower Database watch the flashback when he got shot by that gorilla gun in “The Brave & The Bold”
Yep.
Watchtower Database oops you’re right lol
Hey guys, so this is a theory I’ve been thinking of for years, and I think y’all would be interested in and possibly do as a video. “Is the phantasm azrael?”
It’s Wally West, there was an episode where Batman revealed all their identities
@@dcauwatchtower Oh yeah, that's what it was, i forgot. But it's definitely something.
TGIT. Thank god it's Thursday
I feel so bad for missing this topic 😂😂 I think that it was like it in the Justice League mortal movie. Barry dies and then wally takes the helm and becomes the flash. Way before the justice league formed.
Do you think we will get a new DCAU show on the DC universe streaming service eventually
I would hope at least a movie!
