Eric made a good point about the future of electric cars in the rust belt. How will they survive? As you know, it's hard to help viewers over the internet because there can be so many variables. Your ahead of the game when it comes to working on EMV's. Your channel continues to grow and it may take off as more people look into buying electric vehicles. Great subject!

Thanks Wyatt! And I am passionate about learning more about the EMV's so hopefully that will show in future videos and help folks learn about them. Thanks for all your support as usual Wyatt!

Very good introduction. Haven’t seen one yet but I work on hybrids from time to time but only the ICE portion. Wouldn’t even know what do do on an EV but I know I’ll need to!!!

Keep it up, looking forward to the diagnosis portion, especially given all the codes a volt can throw at you.

Oh yeah. It will take 1 whole video just to try an explain the codes it is giving!

Nice video Mike. I think that everyone in the business is going to struggle with the Hybrid/ EV. There is going to be a lot of additional schooling for sure. The volts and amps in the those cars and trucks is something not to take lightly . It will kill you.

You are correct Mike that working on hybrids and EVs are at the next level. Especially with the EVs which are totally electrical/electronics. As for the next level, I'm sure you remember when electronics first came out on ICEs such as solid-state ignition, electronic voltage regulators and throttle body injection, mechanics were at a lost in understanding them. And of course a lot of parts were changed on a guess. And here today, there's computer modules everywhere on vehicles. And even with training, there's mechanics/technicians who misdiagnose these systems and change parts on a guess. Now, we're at the next level of electronics troubleshooting and there's going to be more guesses at throwing parts at a vehicle which is going to be even more expensive.
I believe to work on these cars efficiently, one needs at least two years of electronics engineering to understand the basic electronics. I worry about the shortage of technicians to work on these cars and the ones who will work on them that will have the proper training to correctly diagnose them. Great topic Mike and wish you all the success in understanding these systems and working on them. Have a great day!

Thanks Terry! Well I guess my 1.05 GPA when I took electronics in college will put me at a disadvantage! I am still determined to work on Ev/Hybrids!

Yes, you are right. Face does not matter for a mechanic or individual interested in mechanics! For me, a talking face means mostly a dull video but an engine or something technical then the video video becomes interesting!

I need to show my son this as he is getting into auto mechanics and electrical studies. I will need this info also but at my age I will not experience what he has in store for him in his life. Not looking forward to the day when manufacturers do not make ICE vehicles anymore.
We do need more information on these hybrid and all electrical vehicles.

If there is interest shown I will make more videos like this. As far as getting older I am retired and this is my passion to learn as much as I can about electric/hybrids. I find it very fascinating! When you dive into this area it is amazing how much is happening when these vehicles are running and the number of things that can fail! Love it or hate, EV's are the future. As always, thanks for watching

Great Video Mike, I would love to see more. I have worked on a few Prius batts, without the proper equipment. I managed not to die, but I need to get some things to do it safely. I don't thing the rubber kitchen gloves were sufficient.

It will be interesting to see where this goes. To me it appears that electric and hybrid cars are very modular so once everything is isolated its safe (depending where the capacitors may be) . However some good aftermarket technicians will open things like batteries, that to me is a whole new world of possible dangers.

Yes the class I took on the batteries was fun and very interesting!! Taking them apart was a real experience.

Mike first thanks for sharing. Mike just a quick question if say one of the two modes say craps out does it disable the entire vehicle. For instance if the internal combustion engine develops a problem does it shut down the hybrid side of the vehicle or is the vehicle still useable. One other question I have is are there two separate electrical systems or do they share in some way? If you unplug the main electrical plug for safety reasons is the vehicle still usable? I’ll probably never get close to working on one but I’m still interested in how they function. Then again you never know. Mike is that a new shop. I thought you had mentioned you might build something new? Also how is the camper coming along? Hope you had an enjoyable HOT summer. I know here on Long Island it’s been hot humid and miserable. Mike you and your better half stay safe and well Artie 🇺🇸👍
