This is not true!!! The question is are you married? If the answer is yes then you’ll be able enlist & have your husband AND child go. If you are not married, then you will have to LEGALLY give up custody of your child to join.

Please talk to a recruiter as they will be able to better assist in coordinating the Power of Attorneys and other legal paperwork required.
TIP: deposit the “food voucher” (really a check) into your bank account through your app. And just buy what you want to eat with you’re card and pocket the difference.

My first day at Lackland was on my 18th birthday. This was back in 1983. I did luck out though. We arrived at 1 am, got to bed around 2:30 and our TI let us sleep ‘til 10. No lie. That was the last break we got, lol. MSgt Prado and Tech Sgt Bassinger. I’ll never forget them, and I don’t miss them a bit! Worst thing about basic for me was the bats. I hate bats, lol. Advice: Retake ASVAB if need be to get the Job you really want! Pick list up to 10 but needs of the Air Force comes first! Get in shape don't wait for Basic (Big DUH) Week 0 is shock week, week 1 get your shit together, week two tighten up, week 3 you got this, week 4 Oh shit combat training, week 5 Lets have some fun!, week 6 down hill, week 7 Lets finish this shit already! 1st day is very long - when you get to Lackland you will be tired but time for shock and awe - first night 4-6 hours rest only and up 0 dark thirty hours and up and at them. We have a saying in the Air Force - Hurry up and wait! 2 reasons they rush you when you get to Base is a lot of processing to do and get you squared away by the TI's and the Shock factor to let you know your there and time to get with it! Mep's - Rest Rest Rest! Your going to need it!

Don't do what we did! We came in for the MEPS hotel bedcheck (9pm). We snuck out at 10pm and went to a local bar for a few last drinks. We crawled back in at 3am drunk as skunks. Making the 4:30am mandatory breakfast was a bitch. The rest of that flight and first day experience was PAINFUL!

And, looking out for our best interests, they'd caution us about the worst that was yet to come to them, so far: The VD inoculation. A square needle in the left nut. {The WHAT!?!} LOL
I ship out January 7th. Not looking forward to going back to MEPs again. I went to the MEPs at Fort Jackson in Columbia SC and those were the most dysfunctional and rude people I've ever encountered. The ladies at the desk were disrespectful and rude for no reason, same with the ladies in medical.

No need to be nervous, Be fit before you go. Be serious and think of it like this. It is BASIC not Advanced. Meet the minimum but strive for the top. key things to know- 1. Memorize reporting statement 2.when it comes to shower kit - two of everything - one for inspection the other to use! 3. Never ever take your security drawer key from your neck ever! Never leave that drawer unattended - this will get you washed back! 4.Remember to have fun doing all of this - only comes once so remember it - goes really fast.

They get to wait. It was a good thing for me that my mom was there cause they had an issue finding my birth county so I had to get my mom to show the meps people the area I was born (fort benning in GA in 85 they think the county line was changed).
When i was there we didn’t get 7 hrs of sleep but we did get a little extra. I got to my dorm at about 0600 and my MTI woke us up around 1045/1100 and I was in Disney land also.....maybe because I was in band flight but I know I had a little for then an hour of sleep.

I went through in 2003 and from what I hear about BMT have softened up a lot when the MTI's could really get in your shit and word if advice keep your head down in the chow hall and watch out for the snake pit and what ever you do do not volunteer for chow runner.

how was your airport experience? i'm on the east coast in SC, a whole timezone from Texas. i've never flown before, i've never been in an airport. it's the part i'm most nervous for, lmao.

No need to be nervous, Be fit before you go. Be serious and think of it like this. It is BASIC not Advanced. Meet the minimum but strive for the top.
key things to know-
1. Memorize reporting statement
2.when it comes to shower kit - two of everything - one for inspection the other to use!
3. Never ever take your security drawer key from your neck ever! Never leave that drawer
unattended - this will get you washed back!
4.Remember to have fun doing all of this - only comes once so remember it - goes really fast.
Bruh the only way you can fail any military basic training is if your literally a fucking moron or you simply quit. Other than that it’s near impossible to fail.
They did give us 7 hrs of sleep tho lmao i think it depends on your MTI. I was in Disney as well!

It was a good thing for me that my mom was there cause they had an issue finding my birth county so I had to get my mom to show the meps people the area I was born (fort benning in GA in 85 they think the county line was changed).

When i was there we didn’t get 7 hrs of sleep but we did get a little extra. I got to my dorm at about 0600 and my MTI woke us up around 1045/1100 and I was in Disney land also.....maybe because I was in band flight but I know I had a little for then an hour of sleep.

this video was super informative and helpful for mental preparation for basic. i have a question about graduation, though. Do you graduate after BEAST week or before like the old airman's week? And when you graduate are you done for good now or still have to go back to that final week?

I went through in 2003 and from what I hear about BMT have softened up a lot when the MTI's could really get in your shit and word if advice keep your head down in the chow hall and watch out for the snake pit and what ever you do do not volunteer for chow runner.
I'm watching this at tech school AT SHEPPARD. Crazy

I had to drop about 50lbs to make weight. If you're dedicated, you can do it man. Cut carbs, quit drinking, join a gym and grind my dude.
