Thank you for the video. Very helpful & encouraging. I just did my 7-day briefing a few hours ago. I will be in BMT on Feb. 21st. Possibly with the Raiders in Alcatraz. For sure, I'm super nervous & excited for the challenge. I see some people on the comments' section that could possibly be in the same squadron with me. See you all there. Good luck evryone.
You're leaving tomorrow!! Good luck, it might sound annoyingly peppy, but some say its the most fun they've ever had in their lives. I hope you enjoy your time there.
Graduated Jan. 5th. First class of 2023 lol. 320th Gators in Disneyland🐊Also was in band flight, which was nice since we didn't have to do nearly as much marching as everyone else :)
We didn’t even have a band flight in our squadron! I believe the cycle graduating after us had the band flight! I graduated on Jan 12th so not too long after you
I graduated on the week of thanksgiving, Alcatraz sucks for laundry crew I was a laundry crew too, but I do enjoy being a laundry crew just because we got away with so many shit, also the molds cause 80% of our dorm sick😂 but a recyclee from Disneyland said our food was bette tho.
Yeah I heard our food was better and it wasn’t horrible however we had a lot of roaches at 324 that would end up in our food. And you’re also right about laundry getting away with a lot we definitely did 😂
I couldn’t stop laughing when you said there was a divide between A bay and B bay! That brings back so many memories ! Our divide was between the hurrah people /kiss ass people , and those who didn’t want to do right! We called ourselves the resistance 😂! We were a bunch of F’up also, mostly because we were all 20y/o college flunkies, who were used to living on our own and didn’t want to conform Oh you went thought in winter with all that heat .I went through in may that year, we had to PT in the morning at 4am because at 10am it would be black flag. It was sooo cold at 4am and we all had to wear shorts
Yeah bmt was a time for me lol so much drama, and even though it was winter it would be 70-80 some days we only had one cold week but the heat in the dorms was miserable it could be a nice 68 outside but be 90 in the dorms which made it impossible to sleep
Honestly it’s gonna be easy for y’all MTIs can’t yell anymore so you don’t have to worry about that, just listen to what they tell you and you’ll be all good zero week and first week we’re the hardest week in my opinion cause you’re still learning everything but it goes up from there and just be nice to the people in your dorm you don’t have to like them but don’t start fights with them either lol I’ll do more videos on basic soon
I graduated the 9th this month, shipped out the day this video was released, honestly wish I would've found it that day haha, honestly a pretty useful heads-up
When i went thru in 2002 we had TIs yelling and banging the bathroom stall telling us hurry the piss off while we were trying to take a shit. Then push ups afterwards for taking too long. Good times 😁🍺
@@heyimreck Try open bay WW2 "temporary barracks". Lol. No insulation and the windows were open top and bottom 6" because of some virus earlier. Oh yeah, lest I forget, wooden foot lockers. In any case, thank you for being there and God bless you.
Thank you for the video, I'm shipping out on the 21st of February, going in as an Aircrew flight equipment technician, and I was wondering how much down time do you really get for studying? Again I appreciate the information and I wish you luck in your journey.
so of course it depends on your MTIs, and flight cycle my flight cycle was a pretty special case because we were there over thanksgiving christmas and new years so we had a lot of 4 day weekends (in which we literally did nothing but study or stare at a wall) but they will set aside times for you to study how much is depends on the above so dont worry about it too much your MTIs got you
Don’t be! Honestly BMT just got a lot easier MTIs aren’t allowed to yell anymore but even though you are nervous use that to hone your listening skills and do exactly what they say and you’ll be good, live chow to chow it makes the time go by faster
@@heyimreck When you say MTIs aren’t allowed to yell anymore, do you mean they aren’t allowed to single you out and yell at you? My two biggest fears about basic are getting yelled at 😂 and the peanut butter shot 😬
During the zero week when they do all the medical stuff they also take dental X-rays, they may or may not tell you about them, if they don’t bother you they won’t do anything about them but if they start to hurt you can tell and MTL and they will send you to Dental and they will probably fix it but try to fix it before if you can so you don’t run into any issues
i want to be a therapist/mental health counselor in the air force but idk how id start or get into that.. do you know if thats possible? also im an introvert and overthink instructions lol but i really wanna help those in the military and vets.
A therapist is a psychologist/psychiatrist. Unless you have a PHD, then I don’t think you’ll be a therapist. However, I know that there is an AFSC that works in the mental health building.
If you’re allergic to pencillian let your recruiter know make sure you have medical documentation saying that it’s true and that it doesn’t effect you, instead they’ll give you an alternative to the shot
@@heyimreck thank you! I will for sure have to do that! I’m still at the beginning steps of joining but have been watching soo many videos. Waiting on meps to get through my medical records.
@@katlyntruelove14 good luck! Sometimes Meps takes awhile but make sure you bring that up to your recruiter tho if Meps is going through your medical stuff they’ll probably find it but you don’t wanna have to go through it again
An MTI told me on ship out day that they would start a new program where they don’t yell for 0 week, then when 0 week ends, they would put the black hats back on and start yelling again
My MTIs told our cycle that we would be the last ones where they could yell it could be like the other comment where it’s just for zero week but they told us they weren’t allowed to yell at all
I’m not in basic? I’ve been out of basic since January… I filmed these all in tech school where we are allowed to have phones and computers it’s not that deep
I believe I got to make about 5 but I know normally it’s less then that but it depends on your MTIs we got more due to all the holidays I miss thanksgiving Christmas and new years and we were able to make a call on/for every holiday there are scheduled week calls without holidays as well I believe it’s your initial call, 2nd week, 5th week and then 7th week for graduation stuff but again it all depends
@@Shu1vx so he will probably get a call this coming week as his initial call, and I’m not going to lie it will probably be hard because there’s a potential that it could be a scripted call just giving basic information, I was lucky that I got to make a call 2 days after I got there because of thanksgiving so it was a special circumstance. But once you get their address write to them everyday if you’re able I know that got me through a lot at basic and it helps you too
The shots are strictly to put your brain (desensitize) where they want it to be for training. It wears off between 2 and 4 years and then you probably realize something.
I love how accurate this was! It's insane how it feels like just yesterday we were getting yelled at by Gil lol
I know it’s so crazy! But we’ve been gone for a month!

From what I've read and seen, today's BMT is a cake walk compared to the 60s. The quarters look like a resort.

A therapist is a psychologist/psychiatrist. Unless you have a PHD, then I don’t think you’ll be a therapist. However, I know that there is an AFSC that works in the mental health building.
If you mean a licensed counselor then you probably need to become an officer or become a GS.

Why do they do dental ex rays?
To make sure your wisdom teeth won’t be an issue while you’re there
So they can identify you if you die and get disfigured.
I had a childhood allergy to penicillin. idk if I'm still allergic because I haven't took it since. hopefully I am so I dont have to get the shot lmao

Just say your allergic when your about to get it. They don't make you take it.
