good video! couple things that should also help in BMT. 1. When you roll your socks put one end in the wall locker door. it allows you to get them really hard. 2. even if you the fresh out of highschool guy like me with no hair on your face still shave. Shave against the grain because the peach fuss wont get cut if you dont. I know by experience. 3. Laundry sucks if youre in old dorms, it is nice in the new dorms. choose laundry crew wisely 4. try to be dayroom crew! 5. break in both pairs of boots! This is one of the most important. in your first week you will wear boots half and shoes half of the day. every day switch which boots you wear so they both break in. guys try to keep a pair nice and perfect but they never broke them in. then when they got wet or muddy they got blisters from having to march several miles in brand new boots. 6. be scared to go to sick call. dont be scared to go to the dispensery 7. dont be naive!
As an EC make sure you check the ID of an individual before letting them through the door. They will intimidate you, but take your time. This is huge security issues with the TI's.
This is hands down T H E most informative bmt video on the internet. It was actually short in time, considering all the broad areas you covered. You clearly carry yourself well and set the tone for others interested while remaining in a very professional manner. I appreciate you mentioning the small details like when an mti told you to stop doing "that." I will mention to other recruits DO NOT to tell your mti "sorry." The only critique I have is that you say "uhh" a lot. You are very well spoken and I reiterate that you are a solid public speaker however; that's something I always notice, filler words. I appreciate when older educated minds would remind me not to ummm. Otherwise, you're video is perfect!!! I highly recommend to others recruits watching. I do have one question/request: Could you briefly cover the volunteer topic? I"m big into volunteering; in general, I know it can make a significant dent in a career. What are some ways I can make some connections via volunteering in the AF, to strengthen myself not only in my field but my overall AF resume? If you are too busy I understand!! haha I know you juggle quite a lifestyle. Thanks Kyle!
U.S. Navy veteran here, Airman Lamb VFA-15 NAS Oceana, just watching your vids for entertainment, it's actually quite interesting the differences between the branches. It seems RTC (Recruit Training Command) was a completely different world from your MTI, but that's the nature of it right, well brother, keep up the good fight.
36 years ago on 26 September (1984) I went to basic training... retired SMSgt in march 2005... I miss the military an camaraderie. I punched out when I did because leadership sucked from the top down. Zero integrity! I salute you for serving your country. Make a difference during your enlistment set the example and lead with integrity!
I was in basic in 1968 at Amarillo AFB. I watched the video to see how it's done now. Some things have changed in 50-some years. Back then, the first word out of your mouth was always 'sir'. In basic, you saluted your TI and anyone else who was permanent party (although they told you it was only done for basic). You were indeed told to shave every day (whether you had facial hair at that tender young age, or not) and that included your neck too. Tattoo's were forbidden. Back then everyone smoked cigarettes. You absolutely didn't smoke until the TI said "light 'em up if you've got 'em". The rest was a trip down memory lane. Thanks!
I found this very interesting. I was in BMT in 1984, at that time a "sir sandwich" was mandatory, even to airmen outside of BMT. Also, EC was called "Dorm Guard". Telling them to salute anyone "with shiny things on their collar" was hilarious. We were told to look for shoulder boards, which got me caught on a Chief Master Sgt. I don't know if they still wear them.
Thank you for having such a straightforward answers for everything I'm only 16 but I'm strongly considering joining the Air Force my grandfather did and I think that it would be a really good opportunity for me. Being a girl and joining the Air Force is kind of scary and things could go wrong but I'm strongly considering anyways. I haven't told anybody that I am considering joining the Air Force because mainly they would probably try to talk me out of it and not have Faith in me and I'm very small person but other people's opinions doesn't really matter to me. As long as I have faith in myself I guess that's all that matters.
im 16 ( 17 in a month) and I'm also thinking of joining the Air Force because my dad was in operation dessert storm. and as well as i want to become a mechanic, and test scores of military branches to join have brought me to this. but i don't know if i should go in for mechanics or if a different branch would be better for me, but like you my friends are doubting me, they just laugh and say i wont make it as well that i haven't done well in school. and also need to lose 35-45 pounds to make weight, so i guess were in the same boat xD Good luck :)
Kortney Ames That's awesome that you're wanting to go into Air Force. I'm 17 and enlisting in Air Force at this moment(I just got cleared to start the processing). Personally if you want to go into Air Force, even if they try to convince you not to. It's all your choice, nobody can make that decision but yourself. You never know, they may encourage you for wanting to serve this country. I'm a girl as well, but don't let that stop you. Wish the best luck with you.
Bro thank you for the quick dos and don’ts and I like that u r just trying to help don’t try to entertain just try to help like u r doing brother thank you
I ship in 4 days basically going through all your video's making sure there's nothing I missed thank you for all the content you've created I do appreciate it.
DO's and Dont's DO: Respect EVERY branch of the military because they all work together in protecting out country. DON'T: Talk crap about any branches of the military because it's just childish and disrespectful. Specially if you are serving too because you are representing your branch. Anyone leaving for BMT on July 15??
Good video. I went through BMT back in 2004. I tried to stay under the radar and wound up as a chow runner. Having to deal with the snake pit three times a day was not fun, but looking back, it's good for a laugh or two. And band flight.... when you first arrive at BMT, when one of the MTIs asks who all plays a musical instrument, don't raise your hand unless you play the snare drum or a brass instrument like the trumpet. If you do, you'll wind up on a bass drum.
Kyle great video man, this is a huge help as I'm preparing to head to boot camp in Texas! I'm trying to mentally and physically prepare myself as much as I can and your videos are going to be a huge help! Keep'em coming and great job! (Sn: your doing these vids to help people learn and prepare so don't worry about if anyone thinks their "dry", they'll either utilize the info or they won't" thumbs up!
What?? Your voice is not annoying at all. Your videos are fantastic. Thank you for all of your AF videos. I would have never even thought to ask the majority of topics you cover. You're so helpful!
1] Do you get to pick your DORM job at BASIC TRAINING or a you assigned a job? 2] What is the best and worst DORM job to get in basic training? 3] Do you get to pick the top or bottom bunk?
I've learned wayyy more from Kyle than any recruiter would ever dare tell you. You always gotta make sure you are using the recruiter to get what you want, not the other way around.
Things that stood out for me were 1. get a short haircut and shave before you leave for basic, it keeps the TI's from singling you out when you arrive. 2. exercise - you can never exercise enough, run, do pushups and sit ups, don't have to be in super shape but it makes the initial PT sessions so much easier. 3. Learn how to spit shine shoes 4. Learn how to hem pants - they gave us a sewing kit and we had to hem our issued uniform pants which was a problem for those of us who never sewed anything before.
BMT MAY 1980 Sqd3708 flt 484 Sounds like great Advice,PREPARE .Think smart. LISTEN. Basic Training memories Will last a lifetime, good and bad. Good luck And enjoy AIRMAN. Always proud to have been called AIRMAN.
Wow, people jumping out naked from a wall locker? Times have changed. Our flight would have never even thought of it. We had people get recycled for sneaking candy into the dorm and for touching an officer. Jun 1995 is when I came in and proudly retired now!
I know! I'm also retired Air Force (23 years). I've watched some recent vids where some trainees were allowed to openly question their TIs in informal gripe (bitch) sessions; even being critical of them. Wow! I went to BMTS in 1985 and we never had ANY of that. If you questioned a TI, you were either recycled a few weeks or booted from the Air Force. I guess times have changed a bit.
anytime .glad I could help. I really enjoyed my time. Did drum n bugle at basic. then off to Boston for school then back to Germany. where I signed up at. military brat then become USAF Airman
remember kids, when you're outside and a plane flies over you, you have to salute it. the pilot is an officer. ALSO, if you walk by two officers you salute with your right AND left. The same applies for bigger planes like c5''s and c17's. Horde all your protein bars and play plenty of tic tac toe and hangman to help ec go by super fast.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! LEAVING FOR LACKLAND ON FEB.10 RECRUITER TOLD ME THAT I GOT A JOB IN AEROSPACIAL INTELLIGENCE, Should be an exciting job for me!!! I have not even gone to basic training and I already know my job...cool!!!
The trick is to be lazy. I was one of the hard workers of my flight, but after it was all said and done, I really didn't get anything out of working harder than I needed to. Unless there is a clear and present need to shift into high-gear, just get away with cruising through. Volunteer for Dayroom Crew (if you get to choose details). When your MTI stops coming in before reveille, start setting your watch to go off early in the morning, and start making your bed and shaving before everyone crowds the bathroom. Take your time when using the latrine; enjoy the couple of minutes you have to just sit and not get yelled at. Learn all the little tricks and tips before you go in, and write them down. Like I said, I worked hard. And I can tell you, there's no reason for it. To get recycled, you have to be doing something wrong. As long as you appear to be doing what you're told, you'll get by. Even if you aren't putting forth max effort.
Thank you for all this information, Kyle. I'm grateful for people in the military that take the time to let the people who really want to join know what they need to know. Thank you for your service. Can't wait to join this year!
I am a AFJROTC student, and I am an airman basic.the information you left was very helpful to me.I am joining th Air Force after High School, and becoming an airman.NOTE:the picture you see on this profile is my dad.I am his son leaving this comment.
I've always heard to get in great shape before going into BMT. Recently I had a revision in my mindset, I'm planning on signing on a 9T500 contract which will include additional PT and instruction in prep for SW Prep. The Ones Ready podcast said that so long as I can crush the PAST test any day of the week at least a month before shipping out to BMT, Thunderbolt or Warhawk shouldn't be a problem. The idea is that you're shooting for just above the minimum so the instructors at SW Prep and A&S can get you into shape so you have room to grow. Because otherwise, if you're in the best shape of your life, you're like a car already in the red zone and they're going to push you over which could potentially result in you self eliminating out of A&S.
What your recruiter didn't tell you is that there is an instant promotion system used during BMT. There is a car that drives around base that has a single star on the door, if you can hit the star on the car you get an instant promotion to the next higher rank!
This is definitely going to help me... I've been thinking about joining the Air Force for about 2 years now, and next year when I go into 9th grade I'm planning on joining the ROTC to get me "ready" for the Military. I get mocked a lot for already wanting to be in the Military at 13... but it's just something that really interests me. I'd really like to be able to work on any aircraft. My brother was in the Marines and before that my grandfather and my great grandfather were in the Air Force... so it basically runs in the family. I just want to say thank you for the advice, and also... thanks for inspiring me and making want to push myself harder to be able to achieve my goal and be in the USAF. (also... sorry for the random writing... I kind of just threw everything together haha)
I went 4 years in NJROTC and came out a platoon chief and c/Chief Petty Officer. I'm planning on joining the Air Force. I just need the recruiter to pick up his phone when I call him but when I'm at work busy he seems to call. I need to schedule my ASVAB.
Best of luck- I did not make the AF my career, but I have pretty much been in aircraft ever since I got out, including a 2-year lucrative stint in Saudi Arabia training their warrant officers to do the same job that I did (Weapons). I am now an aircraft flightline electrician with Lockheed-Martin on the C-5 modification program. It's been a good ride!
I've been looking to be a loadmaster(or anything dealing with planes for my love for them) or Security. But mostly loadmaster or planes. Cannot be a pilot cause of me not having 20/20 vision. But thanks for your support.
It's not that bad. They treat you well in Air Force BMT compared to the Army and Marines, which are good at making people dumb and insensitive. BUT, the Air Force sadly lacks in teaching personal accountability and initiative.
Dude, this is, by far, the most informational video I have watched about BMT. I am leaving in a few months to San Antonio. I guess I was looking for a female's perspective, but all of those videos are useless IMO. Yours was not dry; it was perfect! To the point, not a lot of hmming and hawing. Just right for me! It is much appreciated! Thanks!
Don't bring pocket knives to basic, don't bring rubbers (condoms) to basic, Don't bring transistor radios to basic, Do not bring tobacco to Basic, Do Not bring drugs to basic, Do not bring porn to Basic, Do not bring alcohol to basic!!!!
Oh sweet, just wondering (: I was a Bull dog in high school so I was hoping I wouldn't get that squadron. Haha. 64 days left on the countdown .. I'm so tired of waitingggg. I just want to start my journey.
Tom Camaj because if you mess up, ALL focus is on you. I had prior drill experience prior to basic in 90, so when they asked, I volunteered. I then became the guide..... Smh
can f Age 28 is not too old to join the AF Reserve. As long as you are physically fit, you can join and successfully complete basic training. You are set!
Thanks for the vid, I just entered the DEP and any advice is greatly appreciated. Keep it up you're helping lots of ppl. Poor Savannah Reaux, one old saying comes to mind. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...BY AN AIRMAN!"
Im 20 years old and I want to join the air Force soon. But I currently wiegh 265lbs and it's mostly muscle because I don't look like I wiegh that much at all. Is there anyway that I can get into the air Force being as big as I am.
I have the same problem, im roughly 179 or so and my max weight by their standard's is 175, but its not fat at all... i know its muscle because i workout and train in fighting. And its hard to lose those few pounds because its healthy weight.
Quick question. You had said about you have to shave every single day? What if we have mild breakouts and ingrown hairs when we shave ? Would you be able to get a shaving waiver?
+James Graves Hi James. just so that you know, a shaving waiver doesn't eliminate you needing to shave. You're just given an extra day to shave than everyone else. MTI's WILL come up to you at random and ask if you have one if they see that you have facial hair, so be prepared for that, and make sure your waiver is on you at all times.
So like...if you are asked something and you can reply with yes sir or no sir but then they ask something else that needs to be answered with more than yes sir/no sir you say your reporting statement then? IT just seems weird to say yes sir or no sir then say your reporting statement afterwards to answer another question.
It depends on your MTI. If it's a "yes" or "no" question usually you would be allowed to answer "yes sir or ma'am " but some MTI's will still yell at you just because.
Thanks for making these videos! My brother is joining to become an Aerial Gunner and these videos help out a lot with preparing him for what it will be like.
thank you, I'm going to air force basic in a few months. I'm the only one in my family that is going in as an enlisted. I'm nervous about being yelled at, but it helps to know what to do. Im actually just waiting for a job right now. my father went to the air force academy for four years and my mom was army for 7 years and transferred to the air force for the rest of her military career.
Thank you for providing some much needed information to be more prepared for the transition from being a civilian to joining a special organization which can forever change one's life for the better. I'm a retired Senior Non Commissioned Officer or SNCO and really enjoyed what you had to say to help others out. My advise to you is to complete at least an undergraduate degree in a career which pays well in civilian life and if possible strive to have your career mirror your degree because your training will be highly valued on the outside. This will give you more options regardless of your choice to make the AF a career or not. If your job is technical in nature, still pursue a degree and all of the certifications possible. There is life after the AF and I'm truly enjoying living a six-figure lifestyle which would not have been possible had I not served my country honorably. Future topics - how about weight standards, the value of being in shape prior to enlisting, acceptable hair styles, the party lifestyle - do's and dont's, drinking and drugging, the assignment system, how to pick the right people to hang with and salaries. Wishing you a very productive career!!!
Be outstanding, but don't stand out. Having facial hair makes you a target. When you show up, don't wear shirts with logos. Don't wear grilles or jewelry. Don't think you are a Marine or Special forces. Bring good running shoes, but not expensive or fancy ones. Run everyday in hot and cold weather. Etc.
Don't bring weapons to BMT. No knives or guns-people are stupid enough to do that. Don't be a leader for the first several weeks-you don't know what you are doing and the people you lead won't know any better-so you have to take all the crap that the stupid people are doing.
Forensource Take BMT seriously, but don't take it too seriously. The TI is going tell that you are shit or great depending on the day of the week-and how the other ncos are doing Basic is a mind game that you are meant to get through. The military doesn't want you to fail, you do that by your own actions.
Forensource Learn how to speak Air Force, not Army/Marines. The AF has doors and floors-not hatches and decks. You eat at the Dining Hall, not the Mess Hall. (Don't call it chow hall to someone who works there-dogs eat chow.)
Forensource Think about when you are going to Basic Training. San Antonio is crazy hot during the summer-trainees die from heat stroke every summer. It is cold in the mid winter. So think about the season...
I'm leaving in three months and this video helped me out a lot with what the recruiter didn't tell me. Thanks for the insight on this though, it's much appreciated man!
Thanks for all of the videos, Kyle. I ship out tomorrow, and watching all of your videos over the past few months have really helped. Looking forward to this new chapter in my life.
Robert Dabner When you first arrive at BMTS you spend some time waiting for the rest of the recruits to arrive that will be assigned to your training flight. You will also meet your training instructor and will be briefed on safety and receive other important information to orient you to basic training.
That first "do" I didn't get down sadly , thanks to my recruiter. Hard first week of basic for me. Nowadays with youtube videos like this and more online resources, there's no excuse to come in clueless. Even if your recruiter is a slacker like mine was. Great video
You Are Perfect! Keep going, these videos have truly been helpful to people like me that have been researching the air force and contemplating the options and reasons we may have for wanting to join. I hope that I can document my experience through this process and provide people with another perspective. Thanks for your service
Thanks for the tips, Gott. I've not been preparing much and leave in a month. Just started learning the creed, chain of command, &c. so this was helpful.
Thank you for your service, as well as making videos like this. My son is leaving this summer for basic training te tips you give will definitely be handy.
Kyle, Thank you for doing this. I think my daughter must have watched your video before she left for BMT. She is now in Week 3 and I know she is doing great because she is great at Simon Says, which she has already compared it to. I have been following along on the official website as far as what she is doing each week and really paying attention to all the details. I am looking forward to your folding clothes video.... I used to work in a laundromat and tried so hard to teach my daughter :)

Haha, that is to funny.
lmao i agree, had a good laugh too
I learned quickly that it was better to stand around the smoke bucket at ease than standing at parade rest with the non-smokers!

That is too funny

Don't accidentally call your female MTI Sir, that's reallllyyyy bad haha
I did that, week 3... She was pissed....
What if it’s a they/them 😂 ik this vid is pre woke era but I’m just curious

This is one of the most important. in your first week you will wear boots half and shoes half of the day. every day switch which boots you wear so they both break in. guys try to keep a pair nice and perfect but they never broke them in. then when they got wet or muddy they got blisters from having to march several miles in brand new boots.
6. be scared to go to sick call. dont be scared to go to the dispensery
7. dont be naive!
Really helpful, I leave for BMT in 3 months. Nervous but ready.
Good luck. !
+Arianna Peralta Its only as hard as you make it,,, Former USAF and also Military BRAT
how did it go
Good luck😂
I know this video was 8 years ago but are you still in the airfore
As an EC make sure you check the ID of an individual before letting them through the door. They will intimidate you, but take your time. This is huge security issues with the TI's.
we did the ET, point to the board to see if the were on authorized list posted at the door..
this is pretty accurate, i graduated bmt like a month ago
I agree, Kyle you're awesome dude! My son is joining the USAF in the coming months. We've learned so much from you man, thanks alot!
Screwed up the acronym, Air Force Basic is BMT
SellAqua red
36 years ago on 26 September (1984) I went to basic training... retired SMSgt in march 2005... I miss the military an camaraderie. I punched out when I did because leadership sucked from the top down. Zero integrity!
I salute you for serving your country. Make a difference during your enlistment set the example and lead with integrity!
This gave me an idea of what both my sons went through. Thank you. Appreciated the respectful language used on your clip. Good job and God bless you!
It's great that you're thinking about the Air Force instead of other branches.
Thank you.
im 16 ( 17 in a month) and I'm also thinking of joining the Air Force because my dad was in operation dessert storm. and as well as i want to become a mechanic, and test scores of military branches to join have brought me to this. but i don't know if i should go in for mechanics or if a different branch would be better for me, but like you my friends are doubting me, they just laugh and say i wont make it as well that i haven't done well in school. and also need to lose 35-45 pounds to make weight, so i guess were in the same boat xD Good luck :)
Thank you. Callie Cregger
Bro thank you for the quick dos and don’ts and I like that u r just trying to help don’t try to entertain just try to help like u r doing brother thank you
I ship in 4 days basically going through all your video's making sure there's nothing I missed thank you for all the content you've created I do appreciate it.
DO's and Dont's
DO: Respect EVERY branch of the military because they all work together in protecting out country.
DON'T: Talk crap about any branches of the military because it's just childish and disrespectful. Specially if you are serving too because you are representing your branch.
Anyone leaving for BMT on July 15??
Abegail Guzman how'd you do
You mean grunts and jarheads and seamen?
Or were you just referring to the chairforce?
Oh trust me...
We're gonna talk crap about you
-The Marines.
Branches of the military talk smack about each other all the time.
Is there a top and bottom in Air Force?
Kyle, I'm 62 and a Navy vet. Boot camp at the end of 1969. You sound like a great guy. I hope you have a great career and life. God Bless.
I just got back from BMT this Monday, everything you said it's so true and will help those going in. N one more thing....GATOR ROLL!
Gator roll? Like wrestling?
@@mathiasr806 there's a squadron who's mascot is a gator. Gator roll is a move alligators do
I've learned wayyy more from Kyle than any recruiter would ever dare tell you. You always gotta make sure you are using the recruiter to get what you want, not the other way around.
Thank you for this! I Just auditioned for one of the Air Force bands and am super excited! This video was very helpful.
Great video, you answered a lot of questions I had about BMT. I didn't think it was lengthy/boring.

Basic Training memories
Will last a lifetime, good and bad.
Good luck And enjoy AIRMAN.
Always proud to have been called
AIRMAN.
I guess times have changed a bit.
people would disappear in the night if they did that. 85-93
anytime .glad I could help.
I died laughing!
Great advice thank you so much!! Helped me through BMT
Also, in the defac, always double salute the cake.😀
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
LEAVING FOR LACKLAND ON FEB.10
RECRUITER TOLD ME THAT I GOT A JOB IN AEROSPACIAL INTELLIGENCE, Should be an exciting job for me!!!
Very Helpful. Thank you.
I am a AFJROTC student, and I am an airman basic.the information you left was very helpful to me.I am joining th Air Force after High School, and becoming an airman.NOTE:the picture you see on this profile is my dad.I am his son leaving this comment.
Thanks for this video! Leaving tomorrow, hope I can remember all of this.
They never answer
👀
I leave to basic Sep 3, this video has definitely helped. I took in as much as I could. My recruiter has given me no information. So thank you man.
When that one recruit says “Sir trainee Gott reports as ordered” because they never practiced with their last name
I graduated BMT in Jan 2012 and want to say your points are spot on. People going in would be well off taking your comments into account.
What are common fears people have to deal with in the airforce, and how do religious people adjust in this branch or may struggle with?
The airforce is very supportive of any religion. In bmt they even have an atheist service, i loved it.
@David Bush answered it for ya
AzianDragonz you just got so many people in trouble
I personally like longer videos because it seems like you can be more detailed with whatever you're explaining. No need to apologize for it!
I went through in 1983. The reporting statement hasn't changed. Do you still carry 341s in your pocket?
Yes
If you do 3+ years of ROTC you can get into the Military one Rank higher than the rest. That's what I heard.
oh cool! I was thinking about doing for all of high school cx thanks for the info though! makes me wanna be in ROTC even more haha
Thank you for that! I leave on the 25th I'm pretty excited. I appreciate you taking the time to inform fellow airman! FLY FIGHT WIN!
Oh sweet, just wondering (:
I was a Bull dog in high school so I was hoping I wouldn't get that squadron. Haha.
64 days left on the countdown .. I'm so tired of waitingggg. I just want to start my journey.
Going to BMT this summer. Haven't been too nervous but all uncertainty is being answered, love your videos, thank you.
do not volunteer for anything
why not? How bad can it be
Tom Camaj because chow runner gets ANNIHILATED especially if you don't know what you're doing
Tom Camaj because if you mess up, ALL focus is on you. I had prior drill experience prior to basic in 90, so when they asked, I volunteered. I then became the guide..... Smh
that was the first thing my dad told me, when I joined up. follow the "navy rule"
N ever
A gain
V olunteer
Y ourself
Actually the first advice my dad gave me was "not to join the Army". So I did join the Navy. 😅
Gracias sir. I'm going into basic soon, and i had no idea there were so many donts. I'm sure i would have been blown away. Keep the videos coming.
Do they still pull your form 341's?LOL!
Ric Gillis yes! I got one pulled for laughing while at attention
Your videos are by far the best prep for MFT on youtube.
is 28 too old to join the AF? is it a little embarrassed to show up in BMT at age 28?
I'm 27, about to give it a shot myself
can f Age 28 is not too old to join the AF Reserve. As long as you are physically fit, you can join and successfully complete basic training. You are set!
can f the other guys in your training flight will prob call you grandpa.
I turned 25 in basic, had no problem at all.
No
Thanks for the vid, I just entered the DEP and any advice is greatly appreciated.
Colby Williams
There are exemptions and exceptions to policy. Mainly if you bust the abdominal circumference standards you can have a BMI test done.
Leaving July 3rd, going to be my first time on a plane and out of state, huge life change that im excited for.
Quick question. You had said about you have to shave every single day? What if we have mild breakouts and ingrown hairs when we shave ? Would you be able to get a shaving waiver?
***** Thank you my man and god bless you
+James Graves Or you go and get a waiver.
+Kyle Gott what squadron were you in in CAP
+James graves what's a shaving waiver
i know this was 4 years ago but thanx for everything. I sent through basic last year and u are exactly right on everything
shipping out december 8th, anyone close to that?
I ship out that same day!
see you then!
+Alastor +Maria Rodriguez
I ship out then too!!! I guess I'll see you guys then, whats your last name Alastor, just out of curiosity, mine is Long.
+Alastor Me! Too! see you then!
I ship out Dec 2nd :)
Im leaving for BMT at the end of Nov.
The AF app has really helped me learn the ranks quickly!
Aim high?
I’m also glad I don’t grow facial hair fast.
Kyle Cott, I was also a part of the 320 training squadron back in BMT. Can't Stop The Rock!!
I ship out January 12th for BMT, anyone else?
Good luck.. Try to run a bit before you go!
I do tooo
+Calvin Small how much is a bit?
+Caitlin Smith Me too!!
+Drew Grimm my ship date got pushed back a week so I leave the 18th now, but follow me on Instagram!! @Caittlinsmith
thank you, I'm going to air force basic in a few months. I'm the only one in my family that is going in as an enlisted. I'm nervous about being yelled at, but it helps to know what to do. Im actually just waiting for a job right now. my father went to the air force academy for four years and my mom was army for 7 years and transferred to the air force for the rest of her military career.
I'm a 31 year old guy living in my parents' basement. Never served, never wanted to, but found this video interesting.
I feel bad for you. I'd rather serve at least for three years in the Navy Reserve.
You can still join at 31 I think
+cincycap You can join at 39, just changed it this year
hehe
cincycap still in the basement dude?
Wishing you a very productive career!!!
good thing im in rotc in high school they teach us all this stuff
It honest to god does next to nothing when you get there besides Chain of command and general orders.
I joined the AF in 1990, got out in 2000 as a Ssgt, great video, good advice.
***** Everybody calls it the chow hall, just don't call it that to the NCO working there-they get upset... Nobody calls it the "mess hall.'
I went through BMT 12 Dec 96, 320 TRS FLT079 HF, this is great advice, all of what was said was true back then. Good video!
Crazy how I was enlisting 5 years ago.. Never completed it and I have been trying to finish the job but with Trump as president I ain't going to
Iron Man it doesn’t matter who is president, I’m not a fan of trump and I’m enlisting now. You serve your country because you love it.
Iron Man
President Trump is great.

Great video
I love the dry and straight to the point. Thanks for making this!!
It's great man. I'm glad it's not all fake. The background of your room mate's desk is more than perfect :D
A week before I am going to MEPS to physical and i love your videos, very informative exactly what i need to know
You Are Perfect! Keep going, these videos have truly been helpful to people like me that have been researching the air force and contemplating the options and reasons we may have for wanting to join. I hope that I can document my experience through this process and provide people with another perspective.
Thanks for your service
Thanks for all the videos! It's nice having something so easy to access with a lot of answers to things most people I know can not answer.
Keep the videos coming. New recruits need to hear this. I'm making a list for the young'en who is trying to get in. Thank you for your service.
Thanks for the tips, Gott. I've not been preparing much and leave in a month. Just started learning the creed, chain of command, &c. so this was helpful.
5 years later... what are you up to now? Lol
@@wilson0027 I'm still in. I learned 2 languages in and recently made it to Japan. Probably get out at 8 years, we'll see. Funny seeing this video.
very helpful man, i leave in 2 months for basic. highly appreciate the knowledge
Thank you for your service, as well as making videos like this. My son is leaving this summer for basic training te tips you give will definitely be handy.
Leaving tomorrow for BMT for the Air Force! I have to say I've watched a few of your videos and they definitely eased my mind.
Graduated September 4th; BMT had its moments, but I'm glad it's over.
Kyle,
Thank you for doing this.
Hey man first off thank you for your service. I am 15 and plan on joing the air force as well. Im preping now cuz i wanna do BMT when im 17. But thank you for your videos they really took a whole load of stress off of me and it also imformed me on things i didn't know
