Using the Thread Cutting Attachment

yep. that's how we do it on our sherline lathe. but i rather do it without compound slide since i use hss (which is cheap and easy to sharpen) for the cutting unless i'm doing a bunch of threading.

Is this thread cutting attachment also used for power feeding while turning?

@worldcrafter Sorry, no. The screw cutting attachment is designed with the big 4" handwheel to drive everything. You are not going to be able to drive all of the gears etc. with power to the 3/8" diameter leadscrew.

If you are talking about using the engagement lever with a power feed, then no. We do have linear controllers that can act as a power feed on axes with a stepper motor. If you want more information, you can contact our customer service department ([e-mail])

@Feng Huang Yes, you can use this accessory to cut threads in wood. However, it should only be knot-free hardwood. You will need to play around with the depth per pass.

Of course.but you must pay attention 1-abaut depth of cut-2-tool.
Important of all is the tool.must be very sharp also correct.
