Some of us are fans for Eric and Jax, some come for the RV content. I’ve become a fan of Eric and I’d watch his channel no matter the content. Eric is such an amazing, funny and all around good guy!!! I’m now emotionally invested in Eric the person, not just the show. It feels like I’m keeping in touch with a friend vs watching a RUclipsr. Hi Eric .. 10 plus years full time so you likely have heard about the "Caster Wheels" for RVs... but for those who may not know about them.. They are wheels that are mounted to the RV main frame and can swivel and roll when the RV enters/exits a driveway or traveling off road where there may be dips or low spots that would cause the rear end of an RV to drag on the ground.
They come in different sizes and are built extremely tough to withstand the weight of the RV as they come in contact with the ground. The first time I saw them was about 30 years ago at an RV park I was at.. A class "C" came in for the night and I took time to look them over and talk to the driver about how they work.. He said he loved them and highly recommended all types of RVs have them installed.

Not into everything but, really like 'quirky' & the chance to see something irl through your lens. The craftsmanship in the vlogs is a subconscious benchmark while viewing other content, still need to check in on y'all to make sure your doing ok. The online folks are part of my life too.
It is a pleasure to share 'adventures' with someone doing it "My Way". Plus learning is something that goes both ways & is another experience you choose to share.
    Thanks for that too.

FYI on the RV steps. We have an old 2003 HR Admiral and I do most of the maintenance myself. Including the steps, annual greasing the steps, drivetrain, slide gears, and spring joints with the appropriate grease or lube is key to prevent or reduce premature component failure.

the more i study, the more i plan, the same answer returns to me...
    Simple is easy.
The minute you start adding "fancy stuff" like electric stairs, slideouts, etc...just one more future headache, just one more 'thing to do'.
My friends always say to me.."why do you focus only on the fundamentals?"
Because the fundamentals work, and require less upkeep and maintenance.
Once i get my rig, I'm removing or dsiabling all the "fancy"...let's go simple and straigtforward.

  • @IndianapolisGerry
    @IndianapolisGerry 3 года назад

I did't see the strair failure -- what happened/ If they just "got floppy" this is usually repairable ....
In many cases the gear box gets gummed up.
The way they work is there is a control board which senses when the steps are at the end of their travel (Fully out, fully in) by detecting amount of power pulled by the motor. When the gears get gummed up, it draws enough current the control board THINKS the stairs are fully retracted or extended.
The fix is simple...First, DISCONNECT ALL POWER and drop the steps. You do NOT want fingers involved with steps and moving, it will cut off digits!
Once you pull the gear box (You d on't even have to remove the stairs) simply open the gearbox and remove all the old grease and clean things thoroughly. Replace the grease (White lithium is what I used) and reinstall....
The stairs will work like new again.....
YES --- Lippert is bad news. No quality control at all. BUT -- a lot of things are fixable. Just remember, most of their stuff is designed to be worked on by low skilled labor on a manufacturing floor --- if they can build it...YOU can probably fix it.

You know the cool thing about your channel? I'm not a big RV guy but I come back to watch Nomadic Fanatic. I like Erik because he's a cool smart dude. You could literally do anything for RUclips at this point and as long as it's something you find interesting and fun and you want to do it then I think most people would keep watching. I enjoy Travel which is how I found your channel years ago but if you did anything else and I seen it show up on RUclips or a news feed I would be interested to figure out what this guys doing. So just something to think about dude, you have allot more pull than you think. You're flexible and you don't have to be stuck in one category. You can do many things I believe in you, as long as you personally find it fun and interesting to do.

Eric I have been following you for several years.I am a full timer too and have a coach very similar to yours. Mine is a 2016 Newmar Canyon Star. The truck parts are almost identical. Your coach is experiencing normal stuff. Unfortunately ours are getting up there in years and more importantly miles. Enjoy your videos a lot. My recommendation is just do your thing. The majority of people really like it. There will always be few “wing nuts!” The old saying applies for real. You can please some of the people some of the time but you cannot please all of the people all of the time.

I've had a auto-step failure and until I could get it fixed, I found an alternative to stepping out of the RV and stepping way down to the ground. If you step to the last step in the RV with the door open and then squat down, it is pretty easy just take one leg and step to the ground. Give it a try and you'll see what I mean.

My new coach has LCI products (2021 Thor Hurricane 34J) that I’m awaiting for in August, and I’m like Eric/many others having great concerns on the slides, leveling, and step mechanism’s?!🥺

The problem is Lippert seems to have a monopoly? RV Manufacturers need to have several companies competing for the business. It seems like Lippert is all that is used. We had a defective leaf spring - Lippert
    Alice

  • @MarkRVillano
    @MarkRVillano 3 года назад

If I were a big shot at Lippert, I would install an entirely new system on your rig, top to bottom. Jacks, slide, awning, steps ... all of it. For free! I'd do it just to avoid the bad publicity that all of these failures on Miranda generate.

Actually you are wrong here Eric. Your audience is not wrong. Your audience is doing what your audience is doing.
When you make content about arcade games, guess who that is going to attract? That’s right people who collect arcades. When you make like 15 of those videos one after another one, your audience (actual audience) might be saying “here he is with yet another video I am not interested” and so your viewership dips even if you create content that they actually wanted to watch in the first place.
RUclips retention is a significant issue here. For reference, I am on my 5th youtube channel. I used to have a drone modification channel 2010-2016 where average video view was 45,000. The second I stopped producing THAT content... and started adding other content... it went from 45,000 to basically zero. People come to see what they want to see and skip what they don’t.
The issue exacerbates itself when you intermingle content they are not interested in. Some people may go gaga over (insert here content), other’s will not... but for a channel to keep trucking along, you need to provide what brought them to you in the first place.
    Just my 0.02 cents.

I have Kwikee steps on my 04 Winnebago and have worked flawlessly till one day they didn't retract and I drove in to my MH garage and they hit the door jam of the garage and I really bent them. Took a come-along and pulled them back in place and lubed them. Now they are working again just fine. The reason they didn't retract was they needed lube, my fault.

We have been stuck in South Texas for the past month because of LCI. We bought a brand new 2021 Aspen Trail 1950bh and the frame failed on it less than a month after owning it. We had to get them to send a tech out to us in a walmart parking lot which took 3 weeks. It was almost 2 weeks just to Send the parts and another week of waiting for them to come install them and than another week trying to figure out what to do with the trailer now. which we have decided to sell. So we dropped it off at a consignment lot and now finally can leave south Texas. We will not be buying anything brand new again.

Ive never heard of any praise for Lippert. Even in tech school they said Lippert is problematic. Kwikee is a good step. Id rather reinstall anti wobbler the same way and hear when i scrape so no real damage is done. Hug catman Jax for me.

I enjoy all the videos! They all show how life "turns" and you are honest about Miranda and her evolving issues; which can and do happen! There is no perfect rv....if they "move" they develope issues. Did you hear about General Rv opening an "Rv Inspection Center"? All new rv's will go there syraight from each manufscturer to be Inspected BEFORE going the Dealer! Sounds good to me......something to follow; it should be interesting!! Would like to be a fly on the wall there!!

That's also the company that made the ramp on my toy hauler that was folding in half which from what I read is pretty standard with their ramps.

Good move with the Kwikee steps. Mine are 22 years old and they work great.

Good update, learned a lot of different info concerning the day to day issues that you face. BTW cool detailing on the vehicle.
Too bad those slides are such a pain. There is an RV forum that may address the issue just Google RV forum.😁

A lot of R.V. parts are very low quality. My 1987 Prowler ruined the carpet in the bedroom because the hot water heater was made out of aluminum. The original one leaked. I changed it Myself and the 2nd and 3rd one leaked. I finally found one in Lowe's Hardware with a Steel tank and it lasted for at least 5 or 6 years until I sold My camper.

Anti wobble?! Now why didn't the trailer hitch place I went to for a riser not suggest that? He just told me it would wobble, so I didn't buy the riser. Cargo rack is getting beat. He could have up saled, but ended up with no sale; now that I know this, he lost a customer that would have returned...
    Thanks for showing that!
