Traction tracks are about 60 bucks for a pair on Amazon, cheap investment, even if you don't use them for years, it's peace of mind and an inexpensive out..Keep the videos coming, been a viewer from the van days.

Don't cheap out on the traction boards. The cheap ones break and WILL need replaced. Pony up for either MaxTrax or ActionTrax for about $300/pair. They don't break. Buy once, cry once.
But certainly get the traction boards for this kind of wet dirt, snow, sand, etc.

If you get them get at least two sets, 8 would be better but storage becomes a problem. A set for under tires and to place in front of them then leap frog them... 👍
It's been a long time since I've been to Green river KY.

Hey Eric, for now, just get some rubberized hose that fits around your downspouts that are about 30 feet long and expand when water runs through them to get the water flowing away from your house from the gutters. Otherwise, you can add downspout extensions.

Will not work the problem is the ground water. What he needs to do is to install a outdoor sump pit and sump pump. something like a zoller m53 or m98. Along with it you will have to install something like ads quick and easy flow perforated pipe. With a couple of 6 x 6 catch basins. Those will have to be piped into the sump pit. Along with the down spouts using 4 inch solid corrugated flex pipe with down spout adapters. The discharge line should be 1 1/2 pvc pipe going out to the street so the water can go down the storm drain. For more information in Eric's area contact Chris of Atlantic drains Columbus, Ohio. For online Skype consultations world wide. Contact Chris's brother Chuck at Apple Drains. Yard, basement, and crawl space drainage experts. Trusted and recommended by your neighbors.

Grass is bad, but what you were on is "flood plain silt" That is so finely ground clay that even a few drops of rain turn it into something slicker than grease gun grease. You cannot move even dead level without a winch. Remember that for river camping. I learned that lesson with an F150 pickup, so yeah that big RV ain't going anywhere on that stuff. My pickup truck was not sinking at all but that half inch layer of silt stopped me dead until I got winched out.

I carried a 5 pound bag of sand on my trucks and yep one is in Minnie for that JIC of getting stuck. Yes, sand is better than kitty litter which is clay and when clay gets wet it gets as slippery as that mud you're in! Lol But it works on mud,Snow and ice! I even sanded an exit off I70 in Indiana so I could get to the pilot! It helped a few drivers and a IHP officer get up to the road!

You might want to start thinking about having a foundation built under your base camp a few feet high. Yeah, you'll have to empty it for a while, but they can lift your house up and set it on the new, higher foundation. Having been flooded myself, even a few inches is no kind of fun, I promise you. Of course, ask your neighbors if it has flooded there, and your realtor should have access to flood zone maps. That's a good fall project.

Not to be a Monday morning quarter back- but that situation wouldn’t have been have as terrible if you had a good highlift jack, and a couple straps in the RV- or some straps and a good, heavy come-along. Don’t get me wrong, either situation would have taken hours, but if it came down to getting away from a rising river- I bet you’d have made it work. Good vid though, learned a lot watching this one.

Eric, suggestions ... 1) add permanent mount pads for your go pro and arms to specific locations on your rig. 2) get some single tire snow chains for your rig ... they work for snow and also mud ... they will increase your traction in mud too. you can mount them by using your leveling jacks to raise one dually set at a time off the ground to put on the chain ... another idea is carry some off road traction planks ... look for traction boards online or at an off road store /dealer. Also nect time you get tires get some ... at least for the rear ... all terrain tires with a slightly more aggressive and open tread pattern. check out "the Grabber" traction device too!

They are easily stowed And we'll always be there to save your azz when you need them.

Also, I wish that somehow you could filming your self, such that we would be shown all the aspects of what you do, such as how you place your camera along your route (like in the Florida kayak video) or fly the drone while you’re driving...please.

Always carry 2x5m of thick rope. When stuck in mud put the rope through the holes in the rim and around the tire and in the rim and around the tire. Then you have a mud chain rope. It worked for me many many times. As soon as you get out remove the rope. Be sure its not flapping around it can do a lot of damage.

Just an FYI the FCC is cracking down on RUclipsrs drones. They are claiming you need a commercial license if you post it on your channel that is monetized. It is 100% BS but that is what they are doing.

I live in that area man where you were stuck at to your left is a weather Tower is concrete with steps there's a gravel pull off right beside it just letting you know that away next time if you're in this area it's a safe spot to park a RV and there's a museum on the hill buy the damn part it's pretty cool to check out sometime

I've seen this happen at several large RV rally's, where the designated parking was in a big field of grass. Looked nice until the rains came, then multiple tow trucks spend days towing all the rigs off the muddy grass.

Ouch! This was an expensive video.
The one time I got my 40ft bus stuck I asked around and found a local farmer willing to pull me out with his tractor for $20. Those were the days.

Eric. Right now... check your propane lines and your propane regulator.
When I got stuck here in Florida, my class C RV sunk to its belly and 3 tow trucks later I was out. It kinked my propane line out of alignment and damaged my regulator.
It would be a good idea to climb under rv right now and inspect any issues before they become an issue.

Well, the good thing is --the river didn't flood up to the tires 💁🏻

TIP!!! Old school. Appling parking brakes lightly will make just about any kind of rear end differential act like a posi traction unit. Just don't apply them so hard the engine can not over come the brakes.

I agree entirely about parking an RV on grass. My RV sat in my yard on top of the hill for months without problems. Day we were planning to leave on vacation, it rained and it had to be towed out. Couldn't make it down the hill in the mud.
