I remember seeing this performance live on tv, and my jaw literally dropped.. Unbelievably good, and although I'm a hunters and collectors fan, in my opinion this outshines the original.
My favourite bit is from 3:13 til 3:27. For a number of reasons. The beautiful harmony sends shivers down my spine. The low notes of Tim and Rich and the high note Paul hits, together sound angelic. But most heart-breakingly: The shot after of the three of them and the genuine smiles on their faces after performing together after so long. Tim has a stupid grin plastered on his face, Richard looks so pleased and Paul hides a little grin that you can just see. Makes me cry every time. xx
Three men of awesomeness talent, Richard fidlers interview show on radio national in Australia proves over and over again how rare a talent he is and as for Paul and Tim ...what can I say, simply brilliant

This absolutely made my year as a 16 year old when I saw them come back together! That said, the Live at the Nat 1990 version still has a special place in my heart, as it was the first I saw on VHS.
Seeing this happen on TV after loving DAAS as they were happening and always watching Good News Week and then... It doesn't survive time, you had to live it, it is good, it was beautiful... and then Frodo went into the west. A beautiful end.
I do love this song. It reminds me of the one I heard them sing live. That made me cry and so does this one. Only Holly could have got them to sing together again. What a life she had growing up on the set of The Big Gig and other shows her dad made.
All of the obvious DAAS fans who commented below, are absolutely fuken right! I adored their irreverance & hilarious wrongness. They were rampant funny bastards & I loved them. This clip makes me wanna go on the trawl for moreDAAS memories like this. Yayballs!
The harmonies are nice. They give the song a different feel. I love Hunters and Collectors and their various versions of the song, but this is good, too.
Hey I think the "longer video" you refer to was the one I uploaded. Thanks for linking back to my vid (even though it's now gone at Channel 10's request).
3 Men, 1 guitar and a little close harmony. Most modern "recording artists" would give both arms to be half as good. And would still fuck it up with autotune!
@kain50bc I also assumed this was an origonal song and only found the H&C version on YT a few years ago... It's not often that a cover blows the origonal away quite so much as this does...
@wefting Tim got sick with MS and they just couldn't do it any more. It was a sad time for all when they parted ways back in 1994/1995. "Doug Anthony Allstar Fan Club" a place on facebook I sent up for fans. Come join us if you like.
Yep. I remember when big Mikey introduced them, it was their first public reunion after DAAS ended, and that alone was huge. Then the perfect rendition, it was absolutely perfect. ❤
Back here in 2023, it never gets old!
I remember seeing this performance live on tv, and my jaw literally dropped.. Unbelievably good, and although I'm a hunters and collectors fan, in my opinion this outshines the original.
The best ever harmonies working magic on one of the greatest ever songs out of Australia. I never tire of listening to this.
There are not many covers that I like but just love the way they do this.
This is my all time favourite song .. paul's version simply shines above all! there is no equal... I have heard em all...
If this isn’t the greatest cover of all time I don’t know what is.
Oh God I'm crying that was beautiful.
Fabulous. Paul McDermot can really sing!
Great to see them again 😢😢😢
I miss these guys, so very underrated in their time.

Anybody else pretend they can sing and try to harmonize with the fellas when yer drunk. You're not alone, and you sing beautifully. God help us.

God, they were good!! Pure pleasure listening to this!
these guys were another of Australia's super talented and underrated performers
I'm glad that this has been reposted. It really is just beautiful to hear. Makes me want to sing and cry every time I listen to it. Truly beautiful.

can't believe I've looked for their rendition for years, yet this was posted 9 years ago! Wasn't searching with the acronym, silly me. Just love it!
The best version of this song.... of all time
Look around for a copy of the album Dead and Alive. It’s on there. Track 21 if memory serves.
Wow, what a lovely version. I'm a 100% fan of the original, but this is lovely.
This is and always will be my most favourite song in the universe
Great to see them again 😢😢😢
and I was in love from then and evermore….
absolutely beautiful.
His voice and there harmonies were just so effortless and pure. 3 men and one guitar and i still think its better than the original .
Wow these guys could really sing!

Thankyou, one of the better audio quality versions, I'd love to find one with studio-quality audio but it doesn't appear to exist.
Beaitiful harmonies
Love paul singing this .l could listen to paul all day
Wow...... Somehow this has even more emotion in it than their original version....gotta love the harmonies too, these lads were brilliant

Since moving to the USA 10 years ago, I'd forgotten about DAAS. Great rendition.

Without doubt one of my all time favourite songs. This version shines...
THE sweetest version of An Awesome song !!!!
Have been looking for this song for a very long time. Cheers mate.
Fabulous. Paul McDermot can really sing!
OMG, why isn't it Sir Paul, Sir Tim and Sir Richard. They deserve for the beauty of this and the joy of Dead Elvis
The harmonies are nice. They give the song a different feel. I love Hunters and Collectors and their various versions of the song, but this is good, too.
Always the best song ever.
It really does, sounds like a full choir
Superb ! 👌
Oh God I'm crying that was beautiful.
I'm crying its just so..... Words cannot express.
Mark Seymour can get stuffed, Eddie Vedder can get stuffed - this is the best version of this song.
GOOSEBUMPS !!!!
Love this song

shiver. Miss you Meghan.
Paul and tim....awesome
@JoanneKS69 You never really forget DAAS. They always seem to find away to come back.

Great song, last time I watched this it was out of sync but it's back in sync now which only makes it better

wow tim looks nice here. they all do
@kain50bc How could you not know H&C was the original? Guess you never saw them live.
@Pook365 This is so true...i do like this cover better than the original one too!
The acoustics would be helping that choir-like sound, must be an amazing place to perform.
Sydney Opera House man; you'd want it to sound pretty decent, eh?
@debmart81 You need to watch the video of Tim and Paul talking about it on GNW.
i never liked the show much, but i accept this is very, very amazing.
Was this recorded at the For Holly tribute concert in 2003?
Yep.
I remember when big Mikey introduced them, it was their first public reunion after DAAS ended, and that alone was huge. Then the perfect rendition, it was absolutely perfect. ❤
great cover. not comedy. dead serious, brilliant cover.
i loved Hunters, but DAAS/Pauls version redefines it.
@dylandunshea Tim got MS?
what about Richard?
what happened to the long version of this?
Who was Holly?
Sorry to say, but how can such a horrible little man have such a beautiful voice?
LOL
Hahaha he’s a deliciously deceiving man
How is he horrible?
@@teganboundy9263 He does like to be seen as being horrible, part of his DAAS act.
@@Bigweight66 I probably got a bit defensive there haha, the way you worded it sounded like it wasn't a good thing?
No sound
