You know the deal... 14 bolt shimming is similar to that diff. Test and tune at my local track tonight last time was a spin fest so ima turn it down an just try and hurt feels 😎
I'm swapping in a 9.25 in my 93 1/2 ton. Going to load it with 488's cant say I'm ready to go for it after watching this video, other people think it's great so it must be me, okay I know it's me it's always me, but I did find out I'm going to need a special tool for setting it, so glass-half-full, Dam it! I just bumped into the glass! My grilled cheese sandwich is sad now
Glad the stock/OEM shim worked out for ya. It's a shot in the dark but ya don't know til ya try! Good stuff; can see where it'd be very beneficial for (many) others! Be Safe Ummm, still --- ain't no turn down at the other end ya gotta make at speed with other cars around ya tryin' to do the same thing, then do it all over again ... better and faster each time --- just hopin' someone doesn't screw up ........... :) just sayin'!
Yeah, that’s kinda where we were with it. But not sure it was worth all the effort to shim it just another thou. Figured I would inspect it after a couple hundred miles and decide.
The diff? About 3 hours all together. Took about an hour to clean it up, an hour to assemble, and then like half an hour or so to get the backlash and preload perfect.
What’s brand of 4.11’s did you go with?
Thks for the tutorial n get r done
This is one of the better videos I have seen in the front diff. Are these the same or similar in the newer trucks?
They are almost identical in a gmt800. I am unsure beyond that.
Very educational 🤘

Excellent job. I would personally like that pinion to be in a little more. Not much bite on the inner edge of the gear. It should be fine. 🇺🇸🦅✌️

If you are new to this do not use this video as a guide, if you know how to set up gears then you are not watching this video🤣
PS, not one torque wrench was harmed in the making of this video lol
Only watching to see the inside, done many solid axles never ifs, will be doing 5.13 on my truck tomorrow
How long would you say it took you too build it
