  • In this episode I visit Classic Engine Workshop again to see the 4.2 litre XK straight six engine components just before the rebuild is about to start. Acid dipping and cleaning, detailed measurement and machining has all been completed. The parts are now freshly repainted and some upgraded components have been selected. It's great to see the level of finish and attention to detail Roger and his team have put into it. We discuss some important upgrades that will make this classic engine perform better and more reliably in future.

Thanks Richard, he really is! Nothing being left to chance with this engine. Leaves me a lot to live up to with the rest of the car! 😳😅

As a Canadian bombarded by butchered speech from closer to home, it's refreshing to hear proper English spoken. And this from "mechanics" no less 😊.
Great videos. Great results. Great series!

Thank you Randal, yes I’ve learned so much from Roger through this process, it’s very kind of him to give us this insight into what it takes to properly restore these engines.

The engine blocks were painted Low gloss black, not glossy. I have a NOS block and head.

Thanks Allen, you’re probably correct about the gloss level. Roger restores engines for some of the top E-Type restoration specialists and clients in the UK so I’m comfortable with having the same finish.

That engine is going to run great and look new. How much are they hosing you for this work if I might ask? I took my meds so I won't have a heart attack.

Hi, my brother is paying for it as it’s his car so I’m not really able to say other than it’s a substantial investment in an extremely well restored engine that will give him the best possible chance of reliable, leak free and enjoyable E-Type ownership for many years!
