This presentation is a culmination of many years of deep involvement in all things E-Type. I think it will become the definitive explanation of the evolution of E-Types. if you are intrigued by Jaguar E-Types - this is the Cliff Notes of information. An unparalleled and enjoyable reference. Great job!

Fabulous cars, as a member of the Jaguar car club of Victoria Australia l was present at a meeting some years ago where the guest for the night was Bob Jane a very talented racing driver in the 1960 s in Australia. He raced a 3.8 ltr mk 2 in the early 60 s. He bored the engine out to 4.2 ltrs creating a very fast car. Lofty England, Jaguar Cars racing manager at the time heard about this car and rang Bob Jane directly to ask him what he had done to the mk 2. The 4.2 ltr was released was released by Jaguar not long after.

Really enjoyed this video, and to hear the American gentleman correctly call it a Jag-u-ar instead of Jagwaar was a novelty. Series 2 cars in the UK still retained the 3 SU HD8 Carburettors. Thank you.

Series 1 mate 100% people went mad for them looked so sexy good looking.
I was lucky enough as a young kid that my father and mother drove a Series 1 Roadster with our factory hardtop

Yes they’re talking about the triple wipers I thought when I first saw that as a kid on my father’s car, I thought wow never ever seen this before my father loved it. Raining he put them on they looked so cool

  • @lib556

Wonderful. I desperately want an E Type (any series). This was very informative in laying out the differences between the 3 series. Don brushed past the English terminology (tourer, sport, drop head, OTS, 2 + 2 etc) a bit too fast. I could do with an explanatory chart for this.
I love how the expert shares his love for each series and explains the differences and why they are improvements vice detriments. I thought Series 1 3.8 was the way to go, but, with the improvements, the Series 2 4.2 sounds like the more practical choice.
For now I'll just have to enjoy my XKR and keep dreaming of E Types. Come on lottery!

I still think a Series 1 Jaguar Roadster is the most beautiful car and engine that was ever put into production. I was a poor college student in 1963--1968, so I missed the opportunity to buy one new.

This guy Dean Cusano knows his E-types and in my experience one of the few people on that side of the pond or this that know what they are on about, particularly with the 1.5 nonsense. That my friends is what you call an expert.
    great an informative video.

One of the world’s most beautiful cars. I was 10 when these came out and the buzz they created, even for a kid in New Hampshire, was AMAZING! They looked like nothing else on the road and I mean that in a good way! Thank you, Donald for that trip back to an exciting time.

Hello Donald . Thanks to Dean for giving us a very accurate and passionate breakdown of the history of the "e"type . Your opening reference to Norman Dewis ' dash to Geneva had me head scratching . It was in fact the OTR "e"type that Norman drove 77 RW. Donald you're one of the few Americans who can pronounce Jaguar correctly .Thankyou ! And l'm still cross with myself for missing you at Goodwood ! 😠😠

When I was in college I saw an Etype on a used car lot at a remarkably low price. I stopped to check it out. When I tried to get in it the salesman said just to step over the door since they had lost the key. Having previously had a 63, I knew of the rust issues, and looked underneath. Sure enough the attachment point for the rear suspension was rusted through. The doors wouldn’t open because the monocoque was collapsing!

Outstanding job by both gentleman. I own 5 Jaguars, 1 of which is an E-Type, and I've been a certified JCNA judge for over 20 years. Normally I find the so-called experts on RUclips to being lacking in knowledge, especially about the V12 S3 Es. But I have to say, Dean really knows his stuff!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this video!
