Back in the sixties/early seventies a friend bought a 3.8 e type which he later swapped for a 4.2, I was lucky enough to have a drive of both. A dealer that we used to drive for asked us to deliver a 5.3 v12 to Preston so aged 22 I’d driven all three. Compared to Morris Minors, Ford Anglias etc it was like being in the Starship Enterprise. I’ve always considered myself to have been extremely fortunate to have those opportunities.

I can never forget an acquaintance in the early 70’s turning up in an E Type and taking me out for a spin…. That bonnet stretching out forever in front of us and performance that was interstellar in comparison to anything else at the time… a memory that has stuck with me ever since, just an achingly beautiful car 👍
I shall never forget nearing home from a holiday in Scotland in ' 61 , a long, tiring and arduous 350 mile journey when we were overtaken by a British racing green E-Type .My dad looked round at me and said , "there's one of those new Jags ".The first time I'd ever seen such an incredibly stylish car as if from another planet, I can still recall that sense of wonderment and remember exactly where it was . Many years later , helped a now late friend rewire a 2+2 model and being allowed to take the wheel .There is no question the car deserves its place in history as truly affordable excellence in automotive engineering.
That film took me back to my childhood when our neighbour who owned the local garage had an E Type which with that and his Lotus Cortina that I passed on my way to school probably sparked my interest in cars which has remained to this day. In my opinion one of the most iconic cars of my generation.

Great stuff. I love cars and watches, like so many of us do, so this was a fascinating episode and evolution for your channel, Pete. I’ve just added a Farer to my collection, so will be looking at Turismo closely. Cheers, Rich
I had the honour and privilege of access to drive a v12 EType coupe in our family and it was as nerve-wracking as wonderful to drive. The bonnet goes on forever but the torque is so good you hardly move above a couple of thousand revs. I drove it to my work for a charity event and was very glad to return it safely to its owner. What a nice video to watch, reminded me of that last drive a few years ago now. The Etype is a true classic and icon. (Plus no charging issues sith Teslas lol- joke😁)
Top notch video all around Sir Pete!! Those watches are great. The car is fantastic and definitely beautiful! Loved this video. Also the view of that huge front end from the drivers seat is one of a kind. Thanks for sharing that point of view with us!
Wonderful. I've had my 65 S1 4.2 E-type FHC for 23 years. Been over the Alps a few times. Very special. The E-Type club is also great. Lovely people and great events.
Fantastic video Peter. Great to see the guys and their stunning new watch brand, very nice indeed. The star of the video has to be the utterly stunning E-Type. What an amazing car, I’ve always loved them, one of my all time favourites. So glad you finally got to drive one and bring it to the channel 😉👌🏻👍🏻
Never had a Car and road suited each other more. I always think when driving through the like in North Yorkshire through the picturesque villages that a classic Car just would be brilliant. One of my favourite routes is from Sutton bank to Scarborough because we did it when I was young with my Mum and Dad on holiday from Scotland. Even driving thirty odd years now I still get goosebumps driving whatever my current car is at the time on that road as it brings back memories, but always promised myself if ever a I had a classic I’d do it. Brilliant the Car here has been with the owner twenty years, the type of car you pass and it gives you a smile.
I remember a friends father owned on of these when I was very young in the 1950 era and he once drove from North West London to Edinburgh for lunch before the 70mph limit and speed cameras
I’m glad you liked the E-Type and yes, that engine was super smooth in my XJ6…but if you lash out on one, please do not buy the 2+2…the looks are ruined! I also remember a dark blue one being driven rather gingerly by a somewhat “emotional” George Brown which I and other drivers had to keep well clear of as he meandered through the traffic! A friend bought a 1969 4.2 Coupe for £1000 when he was aged 21! That was 1984…he still has it of course! 😃😃😃😃
Jaguar E Type will always be the most beautiful car in the world for me nothing comes close, same as the Concorde will always be the most beautiful aircraft in the world. Anyone else agree?
I cant wait to see this new journey with the watches and the e type jag is georgeous and so is that d type which as you said is crazy money especially now today. Really enjoyed todays film.
Enjoyed the video! And as a priveliged caretaker of a 68 E type across the pond, I agree that while it definitely can go fast, a slow drive allows me to spread the joy to others. Cheers. PS. The F type R is where I go fast. 😊
I think its an absolutely beautiful car alongside some equally stunning Ferrari models. I think Enzo went a bit overboard as his company too has produced some of the most beautiful cars in history.
Hi Ped Best of luck to Andy & Quentin in new business venture, entering a very competitive market indeed. Credit to Andy the condition of the E Type VGC, have to say 2 plus 2 not my favourite model. My first drive in an E Type roadster dates back to 1966, when a very good friend allowed my to drive his new car, only 3 weeks old. It nearly ended in disaster when an elderly gent pulled out of a side road, without stoping or looking. I did miss him but it did show up the deficiencies in braking of the early cars😲
Not sure it's the most beautiful car but I can appreciate it's classic style and ambience. Well done and good luck with the watches. Cheers Dave from downunder 😎
E-Type one of my fave classics but never seen one of those higher roof line ones. Still looks great as do those watches. Good luck with the partnership!
Almost scrolled on through the watches but please I didn't. Love what's been produced so far but 42mm is plenty big enough for some of us so a plea for 40 and 38mm case sizes please. That E Type is super smooth, and love the colour too, what happened to coloured cars!
Love going there only 20 minutes from my home loving the watches Jag was lovely god you when down some of the narrowest roads I don't even take my Granada down them .
One of my childhood friends father had an E type 2+2 and in the days before the 70 mph limit a long, long time ago he did a journey from middx to Ednbur
Lovely looking watches which I will add one to my collection. Never been a fan of the E type but of course its in the eye of the beholder as with all things. great vid Ped.

I do agree that the E Type is quite beautiful but I prefer small classic cars like the original Fiat 500. I also have a soft spot for its modern equivalent which, for me, is aesthetically pleasing.
