I know I'm in a minority but I actually prefer the series 3. Still love the older ones but the series 3 sorted the weird skinny track of the previous cars. The coupe looks a bit ungainly but the roadster looks beautiful.

My British repairs mechanic has a handy formula: whatever an MGB costs to repair, multiply that by three for a TR6 or by five for a Jaguar. Watching this video has reminded me of it.

I considered a V12 until I watched Adam on 'Living with a Classic'. He advised that if you're going to change (just) the spark plugs you should allow 6-8 hours. 😧 Plumbers' nightmare indeed!

Actually the spark plugs on the E-Type V12 are more accessible than on the later HE V12 as in the XJ12 which are indeed laborious to change.

Good roundup of the S3. Marvelous drive when all is sorted - dreadful if not! Very true!
    I spend a 100k € to drive a 70k € car…..
All US spec manual cars have the short 3.54 diff. Swap it with the 2.88 if you can - it makes a huge difference and suites the V12 so well! ✌️👍

Great video with useful information for potential owners. As an ex V12 E Type owner I'll share the main thing about these and all E Types- they're absolutely rubbish to drive and are such an anti climax. Also, when stopping for fuel or a kebab the world and his wife will want to talk to you with offers of "...if you're ever selling..." and hold you up.

They are not “absolutely rubbish to drive”, you must have a had a very poorly maintained one. I had one for over 25 years, drove it all over France, Belgium and the mountains of Spain, even did several laps of the Le Mans circuit. It was a lovely thing to drive, sorry I sold it

At 6'3" this is my only option. But I like these with the V12. It's so much more fun replacing 12 spark plugs and wires than 8 !!

I couldnt afford any E type but am lucky enough to have actually driven two.A 5.3 V12 and 3.6 sraight six.My pick if I could own one would be the straight six.On carbs sound and feel far more exciting on the over run.Yes the V12 Lucas ignition was absolutley terrible.

How times have changed, those switches on the dashboard make it look almost kit car spec. Lovely but even if you are handy with a spanner (I'm not), you need a fortune to keep one as it should be. I'll pass on this one...I saw a smashing Mk 1 Fiesta on Twitter today though!

@@crissignori7482 There will be fossil fuel available for a very long time for anyone to buy. There are many bespoke companies converting fossil fuel vehicle to electric while not damaging them and leaving to possible of retro fitting the fossil fuel engines back if needed. The Financial Times reported short selling of fossil fuel shares as investors are beginning to see the first indications of EV vehicles cutting into fuel demand World wide. The cost of fossil fuel is dropping as demand is reducing especially in Asia.

What a ridiculous way to spend money on a sports car! Beautiful they are but trying to keep the rust at bay and keep them properly maintained is a nightmare. I have always loved the looks but no thanks. There are just too many other superb sports cars for a fraction of the price and a million fewer headaches.
